That's probably the main reason I'm looking forward to these remasters. I want to see the new localization absent the embarrassing translation. It wasn't funny, it was terribly dated and it made it borderline unplayable at some points. I never finished the second game for that very reason.
Refreshing to hear, because on Twitter they're acting like they're going to raise hell if the WD performances aren't somehow brought back. 😆

I didn't realize the translation was getting redone nor that it's a new VA crew, so that might push me to get this.

I guess I can kind of understand people not wanting anything to change as nostalgia can blind one at times, but English voice acting has come a LONG way since this release and it doubt it would be anything but leagues better.

The acting and the script could both use a serious upograde.

Seriously fuck those people too. The jokes were just a product of the time but nobody now would get the Clinton references today.

I met an Albanian today who told me some people named their children Bill or Clinton because of what he did for them during the war.

On the new translation, they have already made two remakes of the 1st Lunar (one for GBA and the other for PSP). The world didn't end, people need to get over it.

Just another reminder that I have these and really should figure out what I'm going to do with them.

Send them to me in appreciation for all the giveaways I did at this site over the years.

AI upscaling with all-new bad English voice acting? I'm gonna pass.

It still has Japanese voices in it with subs so unless the upscaling is the larger issue for you, it's not a big deal.

The larger issue is I already have the originals. No need to play again on a doctored up version of the original graphics.

Yes, this is mostly so a younger generation can experience these games. I know. Not for me.

If @HellioN does the right thing, I won't have to buy this collection either.

EDIT: I probably still will because I kind of hate the old localization.

Was the translation redone? I know the voice acting is new, but a lot of the dialogue in the trailers seems straight out of the PlayStation releases, and one of localizers even recognized it as his work.

I believe that Victor Ireland owns the rights to the voice acting in the Working Designs releases of Lunar, but the actual game scripts were sold back to GameArts. They might just use the WD translations and change a few lines.

I hope it's more extensive than that. The WD localizations ate dirty ass.

I guess I'll be waiting for a sale (and hopefully a mod) for that one...

Fuck Vic "the dick" Ireland. Hopefully's he's not being compensated in any way.

I started playing the PSP version and I had no idea that it wasn't just a straight port.

It's looking more and more like this is a lazy shit port of a lazy shit translation.

This is either a sale item or someone will have to gift it to me. If I pay top dollar for this remaster, I'm just going to be angry and I really don't have time for it anymore.

Is there going to be a PS4 version? Just tried searching in the store, and nothing.

PS4 is the native Sony platform for this title. There is no PS5 version as far as I know.
