I think if local people have legitimate concerns it shouldn’t be political but that is the world we live in.
Yep. It doesn't seem like those people in the city council meeting just made shit up, so it's unfortunate people are latching onto the "immigrants eat your pets" angle and hand waving any legitimate concerns about poor immigrant integration as racist.

Was relocating 20,000 Haitian refugees in a town with a 60,000 population the best idea? Did the people that live in Springfield vote that in? Maybe none of those 20,000 ever ate someones pet, but if you were eating dirt cookies the week before a cat probably looks fine. Looks like they are pretty good at crashing cars.

I agree as far as immigrants eating “non traditional foods.” One of the women at the end said she witnessed people eating roadkill. The report I saw earlier said a woman ate a cat in Canton which was a whole other town, I don’t know if that was an immigrant or not.

It seems like the news reported this and then Trump said it in the debate now it’s fact checked wrong.

I think if local people have legitimate concerns it shouldn’t be political but that is the world we live in.

I live in a suburb of Canton, OH. That woman is a local resident/U.S. citizen and pled not guilty by reason of insanity. I assume she's a crackhead due to the nature of the crime and her criminal history of petty crime and child neglect/abuse.

For context, Canton is 175 miles away from Springfield -- basically a different world, but they're both small, dying cities doing what they can to stay relevant while trying to control their populations of poor, dysfunctional addicts living on the fringe of society.

I mean I don't really believe the whole eating cats, dogs, and fowls thing. I do however believe it about that hilariously bad driving since it's been documented all over the place. These fucking people shouldn't be on the roads if they can't obey basic traffic laws.

They are traffic suggestions.

I watched this. It was pretty much a 3 on 1 debate. Trump was fact checked several times. Harris wasn't even fact checked once.

They both lie; she doesn’t lie as yugely? don has the *best* lies. People are gonna love ‘em!

I am always astonished by US politics tbh.....

If the US didn't have the dollar and such a big military complex most countries would probably laugh at all that while reading about it on the last page of the newspaper inbetween nude neighbour ads and local cricket club news...

then again it seems that 2/3 of the human population wants exactly just that.... a dystopian dictatorship shithole...

I wonder why

"very fine people" and "bloodbath" are two widely fact-checked items even among friendly media. Trump had his fair share of nonsense no doubt, but to pretend like the instant rebuttals to candidate statements was just one sided because just one side was lying is retarded.

Those two stories (there was a third one now too that I'm not remembering the details) play well into the white elite liberal portrayal of Trump as a vehement racist while his support among all minority groups is at all time highs, so jokes on them I guess.

Trump did middling to poor last night, took too much bait on personal items and didn't hammer home the message that he should have been focused on all night until his closing statement.

Harris had a terrible opening answer, with a swerve and immediate dodge of the "are people better now than 4 years ago" question, but overall recovered and while her body language performance was off putting to me (the hand under chin bemusement thing looked particularly juvenile), I guess we will see how that plays among the entire electorate.

All in all, seems like it won't move the needle much. Latest polling seems to be showing Trump trending upward, we will see if this debate slows or halts the momentum. I seriously doubt it will reverse much of it.

Seems like no more debates will happen except for the VP one which doesn't take place until after early voting begins in several states, so take your pick America. This is as good as you got.

Are you implying this debate is what a dictatorshithole looks like? My guy, it is the absolute opposite.

Dictatorships don't look like this. What America is, is freedom. What you saw is what you get.

You know what they do in dictatorships? They rehearse the hell out of these kinds of things. My god, what am I even saying, they don't even have fucking debates in dictatorships.

What dictatorships do is put on an illusion, to make themselves seem stronger and more competent than what they really are. They make the decisions before they even vote on whatever it is they vote, the vote itself is a goddamn pony show to, once again, show the masses an image of how they want to be portrayed. It's all so damn fake it makes me wanna puke.

Nah, God Bless My Motherland, with zero sarcasm. God bless America. You goddamn better believe the two of them weren't told what the questions were beforehand.

I'd give anyone cart blanche to dine on guinea pigs.

Biggest wastes of space in the entire animal kingdom. Constantly pooping, pissing, and looking like they'll spontaneously combust if they so much as hear a door close. Guinea pig hamberders for everyone!

you believe that will stay that way IF Trump wins?

maybe I also wrote it a bit unclear - I meant that 2/3 of the world prefer dictatorship and a heavy handed "great guy" leadershop instead of a real democracy..

which makes a lot of countries including the US open for that development.

Hey fuck you. I love guinea pigs. You're the biggest waste of space on this planet, bucko. Free 2Heed hamberders for everyone!

Anyway, I had my Tuesday night D&D game so I didn't watch any of the debate.

If I didn't have something else to do, I'd have found something else to do.

Also: we are not a serious country and this is not a serious thread.

To wit: No more politics for me online. Even being a lurker is just too frustrating. Gonna stick to games, the occasional review of something I like and failing to be funny in the War Room.

AFAIK, spit roast guinea pigs are quite popular food items in Peru and adjacent countries. The little rodents are very productive and easy to keep from what I've read.

Bon appetit then, eh.

I like guinea pigs, sure they shit a lot but it's the most inoffensive shit you could ever encounter. It's just the grass that they eat, squeezed into a different shape. I don't know how they survive.

Trump had a very solid first four minutes of the debate, but then he raised his voice and started yelling defensively for the rest of it, as usual. One of the keys to winning an argument is not appearing rattled and raising your voice, but Trump has the emotional capacity of a 4-year-old.

They poo a lot because they eat it.
It's something to do with a vitamin their body only produces like that.
Rabbits are the same IIRC.
It's kinda gross but the fuzzy potato is still a great pet.
