Current human nature does not allow for the possibility of actual communism on a wide scale. Certainly not on the national level. The people drawn to power and other psychopaths will always subvert it and turn it into what the Soviets had. Maybe someday we'll get to some kind of society like in Star Trek, but it's going to take a hell of a lot longer than a couple hundred years.

dunno how anyone on this forum can't believe communism is possible after seeing the history of proto hunters and their selfless efforts to preserve video gaming history. KPJ is also a shining example of the altruism.

That's why you need to foster an ethical society with strong leaders like President Tak and General Secretary Cory.

I know you're joking here but tangent:

No matter who is leading, even the best and most moral of societies eventually fall.

We are the problem. We look to other flawed people (which all people are) to blame and to save us. Very few of us make an earnest effort to be 'good' people, labor to understand what that even means and don't act out when we're told we're doing it wrong. And we all display the worst traits that humans are capable of, even on this site (this includes me). And then we dismiss that behavior through some nihilistic, meaningless hand waving that doesn't absolve us of anything but we so desperately want it to.

Even the best leaders are flawed. Look within. Strive to cleave to some meaningful moral principles. People haven't 'lost' meaning. You can't lose something that is inherently within you. They've forgotten that they have it and should strive for it.

I dunno, I might prefer president Sylvie and general secretary beff to make the forum great again

I know you're joking (I hope you're joking) but giving Sylvie or I any authority is going to end poorly. :lolz:

I do miss that bitch though.

This version of communism would be doomed to failure due to excessive purges, maybe even worse than Pol Rot and Chairman Charlie.

I still have faith in people and feel positive about the future. There is no perfect utopia but we can do our best to improve things for ourselves and others. Considering what you've been through recently, you could have easily given up but instead you are moving forward. Never stop fighting.

September at the soonest.
I can't even imagine the pressure for Harris, suddenly having to learn all this stuff in a couple months after mindlessly coasting for four years. Like having to take a final exam the next day for a class you only showed up for once and have never even cracked any of the textbooks. I wish her well.

Didn't the opinion polls put Michelle Obama head and shoulders above anyone else? I don't know why, but voters don't seem to care that candidates know anything at all, or that they are even vaguely interested in politics anymore.

Looking at all the polls that cover the span from after Biden dropped out to now

Ipsos 1018 registered voters Trump vs Harris
Harris - 44%
Trump - 42%

Same poll with third parties
Harris - 42%
Trump - 32%
Kennedy - 8%

Ipsos 1241 adults Trump vs Harris
Harris - 39%
Trump - 39%

Same poll with third parties
Harris - 37%
Trump - 34%
Kennedy - 10%

Marist 1117 registered voters Trump vs Harris
Trump - 46%
Harris - 45%

Same poll with third parties
Trump - 42%
Harris - 42%
Kennedy - 7%
Stein - 1%
West - 1%
Oliver - <1%

Morning consult 4001 registered voters Trump vs Harris
Trump - 47%
Harris - 45%

Kennedy is siphoning off a big chunk of the idiot vote from Trump. I wonder if he'll stay in the race or if Trump will promise him something to drop out.

Also what type of person is energized by the thought of voting for Harris but wasn’t for Biden?
I actually made it a point to do more digging into her as my knowledge of her was surface level at best and after reading up some more and watching many speeches I can definitely say not me.

We help others when we help ourselves become better people that recognize objective moral principles exist. That is the first step. Even before I read The Abolition of Man, I believed that.

I think most excitement people feel is over Biden dropping out. He was kind of a metaphor for a lot of things: party leadership, government, history, whatever you'd like, sailing into the side of a mountain on autopilot.

I mean, say what you want about this all being manufactured by elites, or Nancy Pelosi making a phone call, or whatever. The screams appear to have provoked a response from the machinery, for once.

We help others when we help ourselves become better people that recognize objective moral principles exist. That is the first step. Even before I read The Abolition of Man, I believed that.
Finding principles that survive inconvenience would seem to be the first step, along the lines of what you wrote in post 731.
