There's nothing to rationalize. I wanted a US AES. That is what they sell for. If you think people should only buy Japanese AES to save money, you're welcome to your opinion. I wanted a US AES though.

To some it's a lot, to some it's not a lot.

You're also easily looking at $100 in tax and shipping buying a US AES on ebay. So to save money, I would need to find one for under $900. Any US AES on ebay for under $900 has serious damage.

Well then you could say, well if you wait months for the right auction to come along and you get lucky, maybe you can save a hundred bucks. Maybe not.

Why waste the time and energy over the price of a sushi lunch when I had the opportunity to support a local business that has been very good to me, could play immediately while I was in the mood, not to mention the peace of mind of testing and inspecting in person, plus a 90 day warranty from a place I trust.

If you are willing to go through a ton of effort and inconvenience to maybe save a hundred bucks, awesome! You do you boo boo.

Of course it's a better value. Nobody said it wasn't.

But it wasn't what I wanted. I can't force myself to want something just because it's a better value.

The problem is that you want everyone to
want what you want. You should accept that different people have different preferences for different reasons.

Stop replying; you'll be fine. You're far from the first to pay extra to get a US system, and given what they go for, it makes sense to leave it stock. At this point the people are taking issue with your defensiveness, not the purchase itself.

Why would I stop replying when I'm enjoying myself?

Everyone keeps giving me advice on what is best, but I am happy with no complaints doing things how I'm doing them.

I haven't been defensive at all. Just answering questions and comments as they come.

If it makes you guys feel any better, I just ordered a Japanese AES with unibios to give to my neighbor as a birthday present. He's enjoyed playing Neo Geo with me and I'd like him to have his own.

Let's all spread the love.
