Well that's really the issue here. A bunch of people who haven't been keeping up with these crazy prices anymore have been arguing with someone who has been keeping up with these crazy prices very very closely.
The only difference is the bios and it mentioning the FCC on the bottom. That's why everyone is ragging on you. Like Alec said, the real draw of a US system is the box.

Do you not plan to swap in a unibios? Green blood and still boobs will get old after a while.

Anyway enjoy it. Pretty impressive to find one locally.

I'm not interested in having my Neo Geo modded and I want to play in English, so I wanted a US system. Also, I prefer to use the proper voltage.

Most of the games that I want that are censored have a blood code.

My local shop has an incredible inventory. The owner is a fan of mine and has been extremely generous with the amount he's given me whenever I've traded something in over the years. I wasn't going to beat him up on price on the AES when $999 after tax was right in line with the cheapest US AES on ebay at the time after shipping/tax and the one on ebay was in way worse condition. Not to mention the convenience of testing the system & stick in person before deciding to buy and being able to play at home that night without waiting.

I think it's awesome Japanese AES is so affordable. I think it's awesome that modding is so easy for those interested in that. I'm very happy that's an option for those looking to save some cash.

I was looking to get exactly what I wanted.

You still keep missing the point. There's hardly anything special or unique about a USA AES system. All the collector attraction is in the cardboard box for it, which you don't have.

It smacks of people going nuts over Myriad 6-in-1 carts for the NES, when literally all that makes it different from the Caltron 6-in-1 original is a cheap paper label over the Caltron label. That is one expensive label.

The regional voltage difference is the AC adapter, not the console. Neo Geo consoles run on DC power. Just get a different AC adapter.

As we discussed previously, I strongly prefer to use the original power supply that came with the system. So one of the minor reasons I prefer the US system is the correct voltage with the included power supply. But the main reason I prefer the US is to play in English.

Hey buddy! How ya been? Good to hear from you.

No interest in the box. If it had come with the box, I would have thrown it away.

What's unique about the US AES is that the games play in English without modding.

You still keep missing the point. Some people in the world have preferences that are different from your preferences and that is okay. Everyone can spend their money how they see fit.

Compared to what buddy? That's what US AES goes for.
They're right. You paid way too much for that. I think you should take it as a lesson learned and be more patient when shopping around.

Also..

I'm not interested in having my Neo Geo modded and I want to play in English, so I wanted a US system.

You really should look into what the Unibios actually does instead of dismissing it so easily. Also not all games have codes to unlock censors. Outside of Samurai Shodown II I have zero idea what codes are out that you could access on a non-modded system. Someone who knows can correct me by all means. It's been years since I fucked around with an unmodded system.

If this dude came in here was like “I just bought a US Neo geo for $1000 I think I got ripped off” no one would have given it a second thought…

But the fact he is in such hard denial and tries to rationalize it with the most retarded logic is beyond hilarious.

Can you imagine interacting with this guy in real life, lmbo

This. I don't even watch wrasslin' but based off that one clip I don't think anything that anyone here says or does is going to shame him.

The good news is that there are still plenty of goobs in dire need of humbling around here.

You won't last long here with that attitude.

Anyway, the price seems a bit high to me for one without the most important part of a US console: The box. But what do I know? I'm not keeping up with these crazy prices anymore. As long as you're happy. I think you probably paid a bit of a premium to buy it locally.
Man listen, there's a town called Lockport about 2 hrs away from me. There is only one sole game shop there and I went to visit, I had to laugh at a lot of the prices there. This guy had sega saturns console only for..$299! LOL I asked him why jack up these prices so high? and he said that its worth warranting due to it being a local business. He pushes to customer that they are genuine and that its there in their faces without the hassle for online shopping. At the same time he is always defending himself on social media but limits comments, so there's that.

Paid too much compared to what though? How close have you been following US AES sales lately? I've been following very closely. Why should I take financial lessons from you? What are your qualifications?

I know very well what unibios does. I have zero interest in a modified system. In addition to Samurai Shodown II, there are codes for KOF '94 & '95 as well. Very few games I want have censorship and most of the ones that do have codes that get around it.

Not only has it been years since you fucked around with an unmodded system, but it's clearly also been years since you've tracked prices of US systems.
