You know I’ve thought about posting this before as well. We always said cane, but I swear in KOF MI Reg A or something the that the announcer pronounced it Kahn, so I’ve aleays accepted that as the correct pronunciation after that.

Heads up, but a line over a vowel indicates the long sound of that vowel. So ā is pronounced like the 'a' in cake. Which I'm assuming is the opposite of what you wanted to say.

Kaan, heh. Sounds good.

Just like one of the best movies ever, Citizen Kaan. Great acting by Orson Wells (who gets pronounced "Gunther Schmitt").

No, they don't. You're projecting. They pronounce it ネオジオ. Nay-oh Gee-oh.

EDIT: You ファブ.

OK, no more "Last Resort", you have to say "Rasutorizōto" like a super weeb.
The difference is that's them attempting to say "Last Resort." It's just Last Resort in a Japanese accent. But they're perfectly capable of pronouncing Caine if that's what their intent was.

^^^

There was nothing stopping SNK from naming him "ケーン" instead of "カーン" if that was their intent.

As for becoming "Kane", that can likely be chocked up to SNK being spectacularly bad at English localization.

This debate reminds me of someone I used to work with who had a bug up his ass about English loanwords and their pronounciation. For instance Grand Prix, he was saying Prix as "Pricks" I mean whatever but you're sounding like one lol. Also tortilla as "tor-tillah" haha and lets not forget Jalapeno as "Jalap-eno" oh god

lololol muthafuckas defending "Kane like pain" magically forgetting SNK was the king of 90's Engrish game translations.
