I must be the only one who is INTRIGUED by the idea, but not necessarily PUMPED UP about going to a convention at the same time. Las Vegas being cheapest to get to or not. I'm trying to see where leaving the Hundredaire mode to floss in the thousands (at least) to go to another state, another city, to meet a bunch of others (mostly dudes) is going to provide me this illustrious never ending story of a time? SRSLY?

I've long wanted to meet a good portion of this site after 8 years, due to curiosity of E persona meets OFFLINE Reality... but at the same time? Is it guaranteed we'll have anything that is even remotely like "The Hangover" ??? We gonna all roll out like Optimus Prime to a Bunny Ranch and gang bang some Porn Hos and film that shit proper. Neo Geo Invades Las Vegas City... Invades the state, Invades some poontang... drunk as fuck... dance ontop of buildings... tailgate police officers with a tourist bus?

I somehow doubt it'll be anything like that. The reality would be a bunch of near middle age to middle age dorks paying thousands to link up, talk shit (we do this here), play games with one another (why travel for this?)... drink some beer, maybe hit up a strip bar, I mean who'd have the courage to blitzkreig a fucking whore house? This whole idea reminds me of all the parties "the cool kids" thought they had back in High School until they wanted to know why I never attended but one (strangely enough I was invited usually even though I wasn't in THE IN crowd, with hind sight I realize I'd have been some form of entertainment) and I said:

"If ya'll are just going to sit around drinking, and trying to best the other with wardrobe, and play fucking video games (if that), and dance, hoping to score, then really now? What's the point? Now if you've got all of that AND A ROMAN ORGY going around the pool, ppl shooting guns off into the air, fireworks and some street racing... now we're getting somewhere." And they all felt like shit because they realized I was right.

I still think it be neat, but burning money for something that may end up lame is something I'm weighing on the balance scale and using a ven diagram up in my head for.

I'm fine with that, because that there is no guarantee that the stars will align for a con in 2010, since this is still in the pre-planning stage.

This is probably more realistic, since some sort of "success" (defined as a fun outing with a shit-ton of pictures) would probably be needed to prove there is some legit interest before attempting something larger scale.

Late summer in Vegas would be a good time, being the dead season, before the academic calendar gets rolling again.

I agree with this idea in principal, since I know that I'll be there and a lot of the other Neo folks will be there too...

However, I personally, won't be able to enjoy it then.
Typically, during EVO world, I'm usually tired, sore, and in an extreme bad mood, because I just spent the previous three days with no sleep working my ass off getting cabs and hamaba-chans into a working state.
... which is followed by the mad rush to move those heavy fuckers to the event, having to set them up, deal with whatever weird problem EVO throws at us, then after two days reverse the whole procedure, and finally go home and sleep.
(also, I always somehow manage to fucking injure myself just before evo EVERY. FUCKING. YEAR.)

Shit would drive a man to drink... but I can't even do THAT, because in my advanced old-age, NO SLEEP + HANGOVER = NONFUNCTIONING

...and chances are, whith the (planned) fabrication of the Hamaba-chan red unit, the yellow/green unit, and the gold/white/pink unit, thereby completing the CHO-SUPER-SENTAI HAMABA FORCE (H-Force), all at the last-minute, this year will probably be no different.




Although, if we go with the attitiude that this is a "Neo Geo Year-Zero, convention/get-together: 'Video-Gaming For Grown-Ups!'" EVO World guerilla-event, with "AGAIN IN 2011! BIGGER! LONGER! HARDER! MORE MERC!!!", would be rad.

That's the genius behind piggybacking onto another convention, most of the heavy-lifting here has already been done by the host-event organizers. The only thing that the (sub-)event organizer would have to seriously sweat is making sure all the paperwork is in order and that the bills get paid on time.
However, again, the trade-off is no flexibility: the venue, the event date, the hall fee, the hotel, the room rates, and other fees, are all take-it-or-leave-it fixed, based on the host event.






I'm not sure that sponsorship would be in the cards here (or is even appropriate at this stage), but is it possible to contact SNKP-USA to have a booth set up, if they even DO that anymore, and/or have his Shawn-ness attend?
Permission to use the "Neo Geo" mark would be nice too.

I talked with the (possible) host-event organizer yesterday, I can't say what I know ATM since he isn't ready to make his own public announcement yet, but what he told me was promising: basicly all the figures I hedging about quoting above, fucking forget them; the actual cash lay-out would be a fraction, 1/3 or 1/4, of what I was saying.

#1> Without being drunk I could probably match you for "shenanigans" but all the same we'd probably end up in a holding tank by LVPD, and I'm not about to do that at almost 32 years old (will be next month). Come to far to get in a pinch over bullshit.
