That was awesome. Reminded me of a much more specialized Pinball Hall of Fame.

(“The mouse took hold of the cat, the cat took hold of the dog, the dog took hold of the granddaughter, the granddaughter took hold of the old woman, the old woman took hold of the old man, the old man took hold of the turnip, they pulled and pulled–and finally–out came the turnip!”)

HOLY SHIT.

We used to sing this as a song in Serbian school. I had no idea it was adapted into a fucking arcade game.

Jesus. Fucking. Christ. Balls.

That was a nice read. That torpedo game sounds like a blast (no pun intended.)

It never really occurred to me that the Soviets would have even had video games. Really interesting article.

I think we had an old thread about the Wired article. These four Moscow tech institute friends refurbished old broken down Soviet arcade games and opened up a museum for them. Here is the link to the original article:

That was the first arcade game I ever played. I completely forgot about it until I saw the pic. The next one after that was Pitfall II in Austria.

The only references for dates I could find in that article for the age of those games was
Since I wasn’t sure how rough one should be with a 20 year old video game,

either the writer just doesn't really know, or the games were made in the late 1980's early 1990's? That's makes this dungeon even creepier, highlighting a disconnect with the rest of the world.

The soda machine is crazy. Everyone using the same glass? That's some fucked up shit.

No Tetris? (this is not sarcastic)

That was a computer-only game. Popular among people in academia with access to computers. I know a guy who was a prof in the Soviet Union who actually smashed a computer because his students kept using it for Tetris.

That place looks incredible! I imagine it was a little creepy though before it started to fill up.

Looks like a right shithole, once the pics had the people playing the games though it looked pretty decent.

I would change them green brick walls in to something tetris themed.
