I think I got like 40 hours into Starfield when I realized that I was forcing myself to find good things about it.

It has some decent things going for it, but I'll even take Fallout 4 over it any day.

I lost my save file the other day. The game was constantly crashing on Xbox Series S after fast travel for me, so I deleted all my local save data. I synced up cloud saves for all my games and all were fine except for Starfield. It effectively wiped my data, and the option to "load game" was greyed out.
When I got home, I checked on Xbox Series X - the cloud save was fucked there too.
My character was level 107.

I just started playing it. Is the space travel super immersive or just meh?

Space travel is just warping to Points of Interest. At the POI there are several things you can fly to usually.

to be fair, that is space travel in almost any Space game.

Are there any intelligent alien life species in this game and I just didn't get far enough to meet them yet?
Seems like something missing to me. Part of what makes Mass Effect a better game.

I picked up The Outer Worlds for $7.50 on Steam and it made me think of Starfield.

Not in any real direct way, but simply due to the fact that after 3 hours of playing this I am finding it instantly fun/engaging which was the exact opposite of Starfield after that same amount of time spent.

I mostly wanted to talk about The Outer Worlds without making a thread about it...

Also, fairly funny that this game is being really heavy-handed with the anti-Capitalism angle and the sequel was already announced to be $80.

Jokes write themselves sometimes.

I’m looking forward to Outer Worlds 2. Will play via game pass which I can only assume is the reason the game is $80.

First game I played maybe a dozen hours but it didn’t really stick for whatever reason. Felt pretty clunky and dated, but a lot of these first person RPGs lately have. Avowed was a nice change of pace but I sort of lost interest in that too.

I tried Avowed and hated the gameplay.

I kept getting my ass kicked by loads of enemies I couldn't even see most of the time. I wasn't sure if I was doing something wrong, but regardless, I was not having fun and was playing it on Gamepass for a month so my time ran out anyway.

I thought the combat was pretty fun. I did one hand and pistol, primarily, and pretended it was bloodborne :emb:

Enemy variety was definitely lacking. Some good movement based exploration though.

On a whim I finally decided to try No Man’s Sky.

Got about a dozen hours in so far. This game in many ways is the game Starfield wanted to be. At least with respect to the gameplay centered on procedural generation.

At it’s core the game is just a time sink/casual play thing but man it’s pretty impressive and cool in it’s scope at this point with 10 years of continual development.
