Ive got a physical copy of wing warriors and it wont function properly with my modded GB. Works fine on my modded GBC though. I reported it to incube8 and they then told the creator who then did nothing to address the issue. Lol.

Ugh. That sucks. I plan on playing these on an FPGBC (out of town and don't have on me sadly) so we'll see if I am also fucked to some degree. I'll be sure to post my experience.

Homebrew gonna homebrew.

Would you consider Deja Vu I & II: The Casebooks of Ace Harding a hidden gem?

I enjoyed the NES version, so I picked this up to play the first one again and to play Deja Vu II.

Enjoyable experience if you like point and click adventure games.

Sure. This thread really started as a spoof on the term, but that definitely counts.

Another game down. This time it is Castlevania The Adventure. I finished it on the Mister (via CRT) instead of handheld since it was taking me too long to get to stage 4 without save state (ED GB X7's save state doesn't work on Chromatic GB). The precision platforming still drives me crazy as I cannot get lazy, especially on stage 3. I still enjoy it quite a bit as the music is great and really force the player to concentrate. One wrong move and you are dead and might as well start over. I think I will try the GBC version and maybe even the hacked versions with faster walking speed and better whip!

I haven't told any of you boys about this, but starting from late September to New Year's Day, I played Castlevania: The Adventure almost every work day. Yeah, I know it sounds crazy when you think about it. I don't know WTF possessed me but every morning on my subway commute I'd play it.

I eventually got so good at playing it I could consistently one-life it. At that point I could beat it in under 25 minutes, just never stopping and not wasting a second. It is easily the closest I have ever come to feeling like some kind of speedrunner.

The game design is pure genius. It was made by a small team of real aces - Masato Maegawa, Nobuya Nakazato, and maybe another Treasure boy or two. I hated this game as a kid. Love it now. Close to perfect for me.

Anyways, just think about how damned insane it is to literally play this almost every Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, and Saturday morning from late September to early January. It is easily the goobiest thing I have ever done in terms of playing video games. And I don't regret it. I'm just waiting for my high school fantasy of a group of terrorists announcing they're going to blow up the world unless someone can one life Castlevania: The Adventure in under half an hour. Whoo lad then that'll be my time to shine.

That is awesome! I kinda lost patience to retread 1-3 and die stupidly in 4, but maybe I should stick with it!

If you want to try again, mastering the pixel perfect jump without stopping walking is necessary to mastering the game.

For example, in the first level at the very end right before the boss, there is a section of floating bricks. Don't stop after jumping each time to adjust your character's position, just keep walking and jumping while simultaneously hitting the two bats and you'll find the rhythm.

Interesting sidenote as well, since the entire game is in slowdown, the last section before the boss, kill the bat and hit all the candles and items. Going back up and jumping across the bricks will show you the game's true speed without slowdown, which feels awkwardly fast. It makes me wonder if the game entirely being in a state of slowdown was an intentional design choice.
