One of the best things about this game, imo, is that they're still using the MD hardware instead of some weird chip boost to make the console do things it otherwise couldn't.

Shame some of the so called neo-geo indie devs can't achieve this.

I think the weird chips are mainly done for copyright protection. So nobody can make a copy. At least that is what the NGDev Guys once told me. They were pissed about all the bootleg mvs games of last hope.

I think some of them maybe for copy protection, but carts like Paprium for MD are not standard, and I'm pretty sure the carts for Vengeance Hunters and Final Vendetta aren't using a proper SNK designation either.

Yuzo Koshiro really stepped up his game after years of not developing a Mega Drive game since Beyond Oasis... holy hell, 30 years has passed since that game's release 0_o'

I love that some of these older, established platforms have become artistically niche to the point that their limitations are a positive.

I hate Analogue but they've been a big push in new Gameboy development as well.

Hopefully we'll see more of this.

Well said. I've been thinking it for years. Retro-inspired stuff on modern platforms can be good, but they just aren't technically as interesting when there aren't any limitations.

It’s insane the sheer amount of quality releases. So much you can’t buy em all. It is like being in the 1990ties again .
The Homebrew gaming scene has come a long way since its early days in the 1990s
