This doesn't really look bad, looks like a neat GBC clone, but the price and Christoph marketing are LOL. Except, Christoph made a much better Gameboy for close to the same price.

Oh shit, it's heirloom quality! So when you prematurely drop dead and your family is cleaning out your storage unit hoardings, at least they will have this timeless artifact to pass on to future generations!

LOL I guess bootleg plastic parts for Koss headphones? But the product description is just selling them as standard issue Koss units?

You know what I've always wanted? An artisanally crafted, bespoke, heirloom quality hand crafted FPGA GBC, just like our ancestors used to make them, in the before times of the 1990's.

$200 is about twice as much as I would pay for this.
I like the idea, but I'd rather see some other people review it first.

The FunnyPlaying offering is less than half the price at $70 bucks. I've had it since early in its release, and it works great.

I mean, it doesn't have a magnesium alloy shell, but, y'know, it somehow manages to get the job done.

Who are these products for?

Old goobs getting high on nostalgia or younger goobs who grew up in a DLC/Digital/No Physical media era?

Both?

The younger goobs who long for an era they weren't a part of and watch too much Youtube seem to be the more likely candidate for something like this.
This for sure

I'm sure it's also for the snobs who need to over pay/think things in order to 'enjoy' the games.

Guys!, it uses a special LCD screen that is only found in aircraft, typically. O m g

Saw an article about this online this morning, and apparently it's been designed by the same dude who invented the oculus vr goggles.

I read an article about this yesterday. The screen has a more accurate color depth than the analogue. They did a comparison of a pokemon game in which lapras looked more color accurate which looked more yellow on analogue.

Claiming accuracy to match an inferior screen experience is retarded. Both GBC and GBA colors were over-saturated because the screens were shit back then. Emulating that aspect is a step backwards. But as @GohanX mentioned these are people seeking to emulate something specific in terms of experience that those of us who had it originally probably have no desire to revisit or sense of nostalgia about at all.

Looks like Palmer Luckey (the founder of Oculus VR) is behind this, and he put a lot of emphasis on doing a native resolution screen.
