I have a newer (2022) 4Runner 4WD, and while it's a good SUV, functionally speaking...just not loving it. I bought it because I live in Colorado and have a slanted driveway that gets tons of snow during winter.

I was thinking of swapping it out for the 2025 Santa Fe XRT to save a few bucks and have a car with an interior that isn't retarded. Does anyone here have a Santa Fe? Do they like it? Do you live anywhere near snow?

Have you ever driven a Hyundai? They are a HUGE downgrade from a Toyota or Honda. If you really don't like the 4Runner, I'd definitely check out something else besides a Hyundai

Why the fuck would anyone want to buy a High'n'Dry? They're cars for people who are basically saying "my life is over, please kill me".

And if any of you doll fuckers have bought, or even thought about, a Genesis I will personally track you down and have you committed.

My buddy bought a Genesis Coupe for 18k about 6 years ago. Ended up with some engine issue and need around 7k worth of repairs this past year. Fuck that.

I’ve owned in my 18 years as a legal driver:

1999 Hyundai Accent 1.4 (my first car)
1999 Hyundai Lantra 2.0 (3rd car)
2000 Hyundai Coupe Mk2 2.0
2005 Hyundai Coupe Mk3 V6 2.7
1999 Hyundai Coupe Mk1 F2 Evo 2.0
And very briefly a 2000 Hyundai Coupe Mk1 SE 2.0 until a lady drove into the side of it.

I love them for bang for buck. I would praise their reliability too, as apart from rust with age they are pretty much as reliable as Toyotas of which I’ve had a couple (Avensis, SC430) as well.

I would never, ever consider buying one brand new as depreciation is too steep. Get one 5 years old with a good service history and you should be good for many miles. My Mk3 Hyundai Coupe V6 lived to 168,000 miles.

All this information is however pretty much useless to you as I haven’t driven any of the newer models. But to parry the Hyundai hate here from people that never owned one, they are reliable (if a tad boring) motors.

Have you have issues with the automatic door locks and windows?
My neighbor and coworkers seem to have that issue on their Hyundais.

I know three people who got the engine replaced on their hyundais. It was covered by Hyundai so that was a good thing.

My 2006 Infiniti had its engine replaced at 26k miles so I guess it can happen to all companies.

Oh, and if you can get a good price on a used model then it can be worthwhile.
Goodluck on your car search.

What do you think of the new Landcruisers?

No, but I have had the ECU fail on my Lantra and on one of the Coupes. Thankfully they are easy enough to swap from a scrapped car but the key barrel needed swapped too as the key talks to the ECU.

Newer Turbo Petrol engines no matter if they are from Ford, Hyundai or Honda all seem less reliable at higher mileages than the naturally aspirated units. It’s a known weakness in newer cars.

Most mid range cars are much of muchness these days if you're pointing them in a straight line on a big standard road. If you've got something specific you want it to do, time and again, that's out of the norm - something like hill starts on snow - and what you have is doing it well, I'd just stick with it.

Edit - fuck around with what you have. Put a massive sub in the boot and make people hate you, it's awesome fun.

Stick with a Toyota either. A 4 runner … or a highlander ( the highlander is more comfortable ride )

What do you think of the new Landcruisers?

Aesthetically I think the new Landcruiser is awesome but it has 2 big drawbacks.

1. That twin turbo 4 cylinder engine. I guess time will tell how good it is, but definitely raises some questions. Looks like Toyota is going to use that in their new 4Runners and Tacomas as wel…

2. If you go with a higher level trim LC it’s getting into the same price range as the Lexus GX550. I think the LC looks better than the 550, but the 550 has a v6 at least.

I would personally stick with the 4Runner but if you're not happy with it, consider trading for another Toyota or Lexus model. A friend of mine just traded his for a Land Cruiser and the dealership gave him around what he paid for the 4Runner new for trade in value.

Toyotas and Hondas are just workhorses -- Reasonably priced and run forever. The same can't be said for Hyundai.

For what it's worth I ran a 1990 Toyota Corolla with almost no engine oil for a month and it didn't blow up.
