I’m currently watching Reign of the 7 Spell Blades. It has a similar vibe to Wistoria, if you like that one, you may like Spell Blades.

Watched a couple of ”classic” OVAs recently.

Ninja Gaiden- First time watching this and I found it a little disappointing. The story was bad and dumb but not in a fun way and it didn’t have anything to make up for it. The side stuff with the supporting characters was probably the best stuff actually. There was a decent amount of action but no style and the animation quality was mostly pretty low. Everything about it was just very mid.

Baoh- This is more like it, some of that peak ultra violent and stylish 80’s stuff. Also super cliched and dumb as hell but that works in its favor. Looks great as well with some excellent animation and overall style. Lots of action and gore of course. While not up to the level of Kawajiri’s work at the time it’s still pretty enjoyable as far as this type of stuff goes. It definitely has the feel/badass quality that Ninja Gaiden was lacking.

I started watching Macross from the beginning and didn't realize how much of this series was put out there.

It sort of follows the same path of Gundam for me, where I really like the initial seasons of it, but I never put the time into the majority of the rest.

@terry.330 review request for the first two Devilman OVAs. I think the first is called Devilman: The Birth and the second is Devilman: The Demon Bird.

There are literally 10 songs that would have worked better for the intro than fucking Limp Bizkit.

Well, I'll still watch it of course. I am a super fan of the franchise.

But I don't think Dante would be a fan of lol Limp Bizkit.

Just finished watching Dead Dead Demon's DeDeDeDe Destruction, which is the most irritating title to type out of all-time. I had been reading the comic, but fell off somewhere around vol. 7 or so, for whatever reason. I'll pick up the rest at some point.

Anyway, the animation was great. Captured the style of the comic very well. Story is interesting, worth checking out.

I'd put off watching Seed and Destiny for years, due to the unbelievable amount of shit talked about them, especially Destiny. But when I finally said fuck it and watched them for myself, I found Seed was decent for the most part, and I actually liked Destiny a lot.

Anyhow, I just got done watching Casshern Sins, and I loved it. I'm a fan of all the 1970s Tatsunoko superhero series, but this wasn't a sequel or even an adaptation. They took everything in a completely different direction and actually might as well have called it something else. But it was very good. And unusual for a cartoon. The entire series was about the characters (and the viewers) coming to terms with the idea of their own death.
I watched this because of STK’s post on page one and I liked it and I’m not sure I’ve checked this thread or watched an anime series since.

This song literally exists and could have been used.

And it's better than anything Limp Faggors have ever done.

Appropriate lol.

Been watching Paranoia Agent. Watched it years ago but really don’t remember any of it. I’m enjoying it quite a bit now that I’m a few episodes in. It’s funnier than I remember but still pretty dark and fucked up. I’ll hold of judgement until I finish but I will say I hate the intro.

Orb: On the Movements of the Earth continues to be this year's Frieren for me. A story that transcends its chosen medium because of its humanity.

Anybody not watching Orb or Frieren is disinvited from my Neo gathering and is certifiably gay.

I'd buy a Berserk cane if it was moderately based on Guts' Dragonslayer.

And I'd proudly display it on the wall with my other fake swords.

Today I was flipping through a Tiktok-esque app and discovered the existence of a Ghibli short called On Your Mark.

It's not gonna live in my head rent free like DAICOV III & IV did when I was a teenager, but yeah, that was a nice way to spend seven minutes. Honestly very surprised I had never heard of this before in my entire life considering how great it is. Maybe you boys can youtube it, I'm sure it must be on there.

Animeigo had a live stream yesterday the most i'm interested in are the bluray for black jack and vampire princess miyu. They were asked about macross II and the answer was it's still being remastered. For that matter i still need to import the macross dyrl 4k set still.

Been going through the Slayers OAVs since I haven't seen them in forever and only ever saw shitty quality torrents of them ages ago.

Slayers is still one of my favorites and seeing these again are nice since it's been so long that they practically feel new compared to the series, which I have seen countless times over.

"Video unavailable"

By the way, I'm also enjoying Orb. This latest arc more than the previous arcs, for some reason.

The anime is called 'Maquia: When the Promised Flower Blooms'

Looks like a 'Final Fantasy Tactics'-esque story with political drama. I don't know if that's the case but that was the impression I got.

I'm glad you're enjoying Orb. When I accepted that the research was the main character all of the characters are supporting characters (if that makes any sense), I felt as though I understood it on the intended level.
