Looking for your thoughts. I know fuck all about Switch, save that Virtua Racing is the game *i’m* most excited to play on it.

Santa needs suggestions for a 4th and a 6th grader to jam on.

Is Switch region free?

Thanks in advance!

Switch is region free.

Kirby, Link's Awakening, and the DKC Returns game are fun and both Kirby and DKC Returns are co-op, with DKC having an easy mode. Mario Kart is a must as well.

Overcooked 2 is kid friendly and hectic co-op as well.

Smash is unexpectedly popular among kids that age (I thought it would be too complicated for them).

Castle Crashers
Riverbond
Mario Odessey
Wonder Boy Dragon's Trap
Kirby
Sonic Mania
Towerfall
Nidhogg 2

This is what my nephews mostly play.

Overcooked.... but don't play with your kids because you will end up cursing them out.

There's nothing kids of that age won't be able to cope with from a complexity perspective so really it comes down to what is and isn't suitable for them regarding content.

My kids still play a lot of minecraft and the endless lego games but they're a bit younger.

How about Sonic Team Racing?
Not as good as All Stars, but its still a lot of fun.

I think Sonic Forces is a little more kid friendly than Sonic Mania. That last stage in Mania is a bitch.

I have a videogame club at work (middle school) and Smash and Mario Kart still get the most play. Additionally, Super Mario Party, Mario Maker , and Mario Deluxe is pretty popular too.

The boys in the club love playing SFII, FIFA, and Fornite on it also.

I was very surprised so many kids have Mario games in middle school, but a good game will get played.

Yeah Overcook is like the 2-player version of Contra NES experience.

I dont know how many times i screamed at my kids & they scream back at me. We actually were able to beat the game. We bought Overcook 2 last year right after we beat the first one but haven't opened it yet. Probably play during Christmas break haha.

Mario Odyssey
Luigi's Mansion 3
Super Bomberman R
Yoshi's Crafted World
DCK Tropical Freeze
Mario Maker 2
Mario Kart 8 Deluxe
Super Mario Party (not the best in the series but I mean kids wont know that)

Those are all games I've played and kids would love

I have a 4th, 6th, 9th, and 11th. Switch has become console of choice for all of them. The boys still prefer Overwatch and Rocket League on xbox, though both are now on Switch as well.

Most played games for them:
Death Squared
Lumo
Snipperclips
Overcooked 2
Project Highrise
Cities Skylines
Puyo Tetris
Tetris 99
Yooka Laylee
Yonder the Cloud Catcher
Schlag Den Star (German)
Fishing Spirits (Japanese)
Mario v Rabbids Kingdom Battle

Can't wait till Animal Crossing comes out. Haven't played one since the Game Cube version but really looking forward to it. It's just so chill. No stress just mindless fun and the whole family can enjoy it. It's gonna be great for the kids.

This game was almost the end of my family.

It's a co-op game, but I want to split myself into 4, you know, to DO IT RIGHT and GET IT DONE, because, WHY CAN'T YOU JUST TURN 9 DEGREES INSTEAD of 12!

Also - the Labo stuff: expensive cardboard...yeah. I mean, it is good quality, not incredible. Step on it and it is done. It doesn't really store easily. It's a gimmick for sure. It's somewhat fun (for kids) to put together. We paid $70 for the one kit with the elephant, bird, and others. They liked it. I probably would value it closer to $50.

Overcooked is good, as above.

Worth looking at Lovers in a Dangerous Spacetime for more coop fun too.
