This will likely turn into one of those 'list these things' threads that I hate, but it might spark something of interest for me so I'm making it anyway.

This is something I was curious about. I find myself sitting online and often pretty bored. There are only a handful of websites that I visit, most update just once a day so once they've been read, I sit there refreshing forums waiting for something to happen.

I feel like I should be more productive online, maybe accomplishing something, maybe learning something, but certainly not trolling neo-geo forums 9 times out of 10.

Some of the daily visit websites for me:

E-Mail
Check accounts, update stock prices, financials, etc.
Uni-watch.com
Ratebeer and Neo-Geo.com for forum banter
MSNBC to make sure the world didn't end
During the day I'll think of something random and usually end up on wikipedia for at least a little while.

That's about it.

dailykos.com
sensibleerection.com (10+ year co-op blog with hysterical comments. reminds me of ng.com sort of)
front page of reddit.com
mountainweather.com (JH valley forecasts for low and upper mountain elevations)
noaa.gov (more weather. typically only visit this site in winter)

Like you I end up on wiki tangents and also end up on unofficialnetworks.com some times as well.

If I truly get bored, I hit the button and it brings me something I like. *shrugs* It takes a bit before it starts to catch on to your likes, but once it does it really does work. Pretty cool stuff.

Reddit, mostly via the Alien Blue app on my phone during downtime (I have about 6 or 7 subs I read regularly)
YouTube to watch Russian drivers try to kills themselves in new and creative ways
HauteLook/RueLala/Gilt to browse the flash sales at their scheduled times

If it's college football season, then I add a few more.

it's sad that most of my time is reddit and subreddits. The scientific subreddits are sometimes a good read.

I also browse amazon prime for random junk to buy/try.

Ebay for the occasional impulse buy. I like using the "best offer" feature to lowball the shit out of people.

then i refresh ng.com unrelated and marketplace threads for random crap to do.

I used to have a long list of sites i would check. I rarely even check gadget blogs anymore. It's mostly expensive junk and phone wars.

youku.com (chinese youtube)
sometimes i google ideas for TEFL games but that never helps because most of them are worthless.

the only reason i have facebook now is to show my family pictures. i've gradually defriended just about everyone i knew in america. my facebook is lonely now. the only people who seem to post daily now are spinmaster and merc. i feel weird for knowing so much about them. maybe the only thing left to do is defriend them too :(

Most of the time it's Ebay as I sell a lot and YouTube. Occasionally I watch a few videos on best gore and crazyshit.com and check the online news.

my surfing usually goes like this:

check new uploads for my subscriptions at youtube
check new posts at ng.com
check facebook for new posts
check ng.com again

rinse repeat, etc.

if it's really slow I'll get into trouble by checking Amazon and/or eBay and buy something else I don't need

then later on, for porn I choose youporn

Pretty much exact same things as everyone else here, but one other thing I look at every now and again is isstracker.com - it shows you where the international space station is over earth, and you get an idea of how fast it moves.

Far better than that though, is you can see it with the naked eye, no need for a microscope or anything, if you look in the sky at the right time. This website shows you when to look: http://www.heavens-above.com/SelectTown.aspx

If you have got a pair of binoculars you can even see the solar sails on it, it's pretty amazing really, there's people living up in it looking down over earth from space and you can see their ship with your own eyes. Have a few beers beforehand and you can get pretty caught up in it all.

If you're in to this kind of thing that is, otherwise it's just a moving light in the sky really.

Other than here?

Facebook (I'm on it all the time, even though I don't really do anything on it- I really need to clean up my Friends List).

Mentalfloss
Cracked
MSN & Yahoo (I love punishing myself and reading the comments on both sites)
The A.V. Club
Mymedicare.gov (work)
MSPRP (work)
Healthgrades (work)
CMS ICD 09 Database (work)
Nextiva (work)
Gmail

That's pretty much everyday.

I have Spotify Premium for radio, and like others have mentioned I love going on Wikipedia rampages from time to time. I do it sometimes on TV Tropes, too.
