I've seen Ray Young's Neo Geo collection on sale in the store, and I noticed there are two versions of Metal Slug 1 available: Metal Slug Camo and Metal Slug Black. I thought there were only two versions: Japanese and International. Could someone please provide more details on these?

I'm not sure I trust anything in that listing.

It's right there in the listing:

"This collection once belonged to Ray Young, founder of !Arcade! of Canada that produced the Phantom-1 converter and high quality AES conversions."

"All carts have the custom made blue !A! program board."

The last legit US Metal Slug homecart sold for $59k on the neostore. This whole collection of 12 games is $62k. To think that there's even one single real game in there is crazy. 10 of them don't even have an official homecart release at all. As if that wasn't enough, no AES Slug was ever released in an old style case, only snaplock ones. Those are just expensive bootlegs, nothing more.

Legend has it that those particular Slugs were hand made in a closet and have never been out of said closet, making them probably the only pair of Slugs that have never been exposed to unstable air. In fact, Ray Young is still in the closet with those carts.

You should buy them. Go nicely with your closet full of uncracked neo stick balls.

People were always trying to push this "Arcade!" stuff as collector pieces. They are boots and no one cares about Arcades! historical significance in the Neo Geo scene. It's like saying TimeWalk games has historical significance regarding the history of the Super Nintendo.

It's just "High End Game Room" shit that maybe only 3 people care about because they think it's an investment. Which it's not.

Careful... you've just upset the OP.

Next you'll be saying that "unstable air" isn't a thing.

BTW... who are the other two people?

I just don't understand the bootleg collector market that has sprung up for the Neo over the last decade. Some NCI repro "limited" pieces are absolutely bonkers in price right now.

What I REALLY don't understand is that you can get literally any AES repro (very good quality too) from NeoOldStore for $275 or so (adjusted for EU value) making this entire scene absolutely superfluous - a bootleg is a bootleg no matter how you shake it. Value is a subjective, made-up concept anyway - this just grids my gears for some reason. 🤷‍♂️

I don't like bootleg AES games. They add confusion to the market, where you don't know if the game you're buying is real.
I can't see why there's such a market for them- there's other ways to play most Neo Geo games, if you just want to play them.
And they sacrifice original AES games (Fatal Fury 3, etc) to make them.

Wow Tarma you have a memory! common let the old traumas be bygones man, after all, English isn't my first language... for what is worth, I apologise if my previous "balls in a closet" post did offend your fragile masculinity :p

Too bad on the Metal Slugs, still unclear why the collection commands such a high price then. Is Neo Store setting up the price or it is the seller that does so? I'm considering buying Sengoku 3 from the store, I presume they check authenticity on what they sell right?

Absolute trash. No rhyme or reason. Maybe it’s idiots. Maybe it’s market manipulation. Probably the first one.

The only thing you offend is the intelligence of most other users of this forum.

Pro Tip - take your cracked unstable balls and fucking do one. Please. Collectards are not welcome here.
