Thunder Rosa should have gone old school here. The chair is going to swing, if you want to stand there and be an unprofessional idiot you're going to get your eggs scrambled.

*edit* Stevie Richards said the same thing, :fedora:

While that's probably what they deserved, in a sense, for being unprofessional, them not selling the chair shots would have made TR look even worse.

This was, to me, a moment where the heels went into business for themselves. TR has heat backstage for whatever reason, or so I understand.

Feel bad for Kris. She had to lay there through it all.

James Romero is too young to rub elbows on the same level as some of his hosts…that said, I’m *loving* the Stevie Richards Show podcast. Where else are you going to get stories about running into Dory Funk Jr. at Olive Garden in Ocalla, Florida?

I'm on board with all the love for Stevie. Anybody that entrenched in ECW during its hottest period is bound to understand how the business really works on a personal and worker psychology level.

JBL deserved his receipt.

WWE Elimination Chamber PLE Results: 3-1-25

Results courtesy of PWTorch.com (complete link to Keller's report).

(1) WOMEN’S ELIMINATION CHAMBER: Bianca Belair vs. Naomi vs. Alexa Bliss vs. Roxanne Perez vs. Bayley vs. Liv Morgan

Ring entrances for each of the women took place in this order: Alexa Bliss, Bayley, Roxanne Perez, Bayley, Liv Morgan, and Naomi. Liv laughed at Bianca Belair in her Chamber pod. Naomi then made her entrance. Cole said Naomi and Liv would start the match and then he explained the format and rules. As soon as the bell rang, Jade Cargill’s theme unexpectedly played and Liv went from joyous to panicked. She insisted she didn’t do it. She entered the ring and moved past Liv and attacked Naomi. Pat McAfee said, “What the?!” Belair was locked in the cell and pounded on it. Fans chanted, “Holy shit!” McAfee said he didn’t want to make any assumptions. Cole wondered if Jade believed it was Naomi who attacked her. Wade Barrett asked what else would justify this attack. Security pulled her off. Fans chanted, “Let them fight!” Cargil kicked the door into Naomi. Medics determined Naomi couldn’t continue and was therefore eliminated.

ELIMINATION #1: Naomi via medical stoppage at 1:00.
Liv gloated in relief as Belair kneeled in her pod. Belair’s pod opened and she went over to the chain Chamber wall to check on Naomi. Liv attacked Belair from behind. McAfee said he can’t imagine the mental state of Belair. They showed Naomi being rolled to the back on a gurney. Cole said the assumption now could be that Naomi attacked Cargill. McAfee said the crowd was stunned from what happened. Cole said, “It’s almost like the air came out of the balloon.”

Roxanne entered fourth. She went after both Liv and Belair right away. Liv got in some offense against Roxanne.

Bayley entered fifth. Bayley went after Perez at first. Cole said Bayley and Belair have seemed to mend fences after having issues in the past. Bayley gave Belair a sunset bomb into the corner. Perez powerbombed Bayley off the top rope to stop her momentum.

Finally, Alexa entered. Cole talked about her trance-like expression and that she won the Chamber in 2018. Liv waited mid-ring for her as the wrestlers were down on the mat in the background recovering. Bliss fended off Perez and mounted her with a barrage of punches. Liv attacked both, then took a swing at Bayley. Perez took over against Alexa. The crowd was pretty quiet for this. Liv leaped off the top rope at a standing Belair and Bayley, who caught her and slammed her. Bayley then snapped Belair over the middle rope and dove onto both Belair and Bliss. Perez put Bayley in a crossface. They rolled to the platform at ringside. Bayley escaped.

When Perez went for a moonsault, Bayley lifted her knee. Bayley dumped Perez over the top rope. Liv caught Bayley with Oblivion for the elimination.

ELIMINATION #2: Bayley in 19:00.

Liv battled Belair on the roof of one of the pods. Belair whipped Liv with her pony tail and then knocked her to the floor. Belair whipped around her pony tail and then elaped off the pod onto Liv, Perez, and Bliss. All four were down and slow to get up as the crowd chanted, “Holy shit!” Belair scored a two count on Liv. She turned to Morgan. Perez and Liv went over there and executed a tower suplex/powerbomb spot.

When Liv went for Oblivion, Perez kicked her and then set up Pop Rocks on Belair. Liv hit a Code Breaker on Perez. Bliss landed a Twisted Bliss on Perez for a three count.
ELIMINATION #3: Perez in 23:00.

Liv, Morgan, and Belair stood and eyed each other. Belair gave Liv a KOD right into Bliss’s arms, and Liv took Bliss down with a head scissors. Bliss then stomped away at Belair’s head. Liv gave Belair three suplexes.Liv went for a 619 against Belair, but Bliss intercepted her and set up Sister Abigail. Liv escaped and rolled her for a two count. Belair then set up a KOD on Liv, but shifted into a roll-up. Liv kicked out and then Bliss gave Belair a Sister Abigail. Liv jacknife covered Bliss to eliminate her. Fans rooting for Bliss groaned and then booed.

ELIMINATION #4: Morgan in 26:00.

Morgan and Belair were the final two. Liv used Belair’s braided hair to shove her back and forth between the ropes and the Chamber chain wall and then scored a two count. Fans chanted, “EST!” Liv landed a Code Breaker. Belair came back with a spear. Barrett said both women were running on fumes and it’s come down to how badly they want to go on to WrestleMania. Belair swung Liv by her legs into the pod wall and chain wall over and over. She followed with a powerbomb over the top rope into the ring. Belair went for a top rope 450, but Liv lifted her knees. Belair recovered quickly and went for a KOD, but Liv slipped free and landed a Code Breaker. When she went for Oblivion, Belair countered into a KOD for the eliminated and the win.

ELIMINATION #5: Liv Morgan in 29:00.

WINNER: Belair in 29:00 to earn the match against Rhea Ripley at WrestleMania.

(A good chamber match. The crowd enthusiasm took a dip after the Cargill angle, and it ebbed and flowed from there. The Belair pick was always the most logical if the assumption was she was part of the attack on Jade Cargill. I’m interested to hear Cargill explain how she knows it was Naomi, whether Belair was part of it too, and why she waited all this time to reveal she knew or that she just found out somehow recently.)

(2) TIFFANY STRATTON & TRISH STRATUS vs. NIA JAX & CANDICE LERAE

Cole said this is the first time Trish’s kids have ever witnessed her wrestle in person. The bell rang 4 minutes into the second hour with Trish landing a Thesz Press on LeRae. Tiffany and Trish dropkicked Jax out of the ring. Jax beat up Tiffany for a while. Trish hot-tagged in, but Jax went on the attack for a while including applying a stretch muffler. LeRae tagged in against Trish at 6:00 and scored a two count.

A “We Want Tiffy” chant started as Jax rubbed her butt against Trish in the corner. Tiffany hot-tagged in and went after LeRae in the ring and took a shot at Jax on the ring apron. Tiffany slammed LeRae to the mat with an Alabama Slam. She then delivered a spinebuster on an interfering Jax. She stomped both and then scored a two count on LeRae. LeRae shoved Tiffany as she went for a jump move off the top rope. Tiffany took a scary fall that made it seem like she wasn’t prepared for that spot.

Tiffany delivered a back suplex to Jax a minute later and then leaped over to her corner to tag in Trish. Trish head scissored LeRae off the top rope. Jax broke up the pin attempt. Trish took Jax to the mat with a top rope Stratusfaction bulldog. LeRae moonsault toward Trish but landed on Jax. Tiffany tagged in and backdropped a charging LeRae and then double-jump moonsaulted Jax for a three count.

WINNERS: Trish & Tiffany in 11:00.

(Pretty straight forward tag match that felt more like filler or padding than a necessary match on a PLE, but it did give them a chance to give Tiffany a win on a PLE and, of course, give Toronto a chance to see hometown veteran star Trish in action.)

WWE Elimination Chamber PLE Results: 3-1-25

(3) SAMI ZAYN vs. KEVIN OWENS – Unsanctioned match

Ring announcer Alicia Taylor stood mid-ring and explained what “unsanctioned” entails. She said there are no countouts, DQs, or rules and the referee is only there to count pinfalls or submissions. She said WWE is absolved of all responsibility. Sami came out first. Cole said he wasn’t medically cleared for a regular match. KO’s t-shirt said “KO” but a Maple Leaf represented the “O.” The bell rang 36 minutes into the hour.

After early KO offense, Sami took control. Fans chanted for tales. Sami threw three chairs into the ring. KO recovered during that time and bashed Sami with the chair in the gut and then the back. The ref was dressed in all black rather than traditional referee attire and also wore black gloves, implying blood was expected. Sami fought back. Cole said they were at each other’s weddings and it was such a shame its come to this. Sami got a big pop when he pulled out a hockey stick.

Sami set up a table at ringside. Owens meanwhile recovered and rammed Sami into a ringpost. He took the hockey stick and pulled across Sami’s mouth and then hit at his forehead. “What a sicko!” exclaimed Cole. (So AEW books for Owens?) Cole said he’s nuts and he’s been trying to convince everyone of that. Owens stacked a table on top of another. Fans cheered. Owens dragged Sami into the crowd. Sami fought back. Sami back suplexed Owens onto a table that wasoddly covered with empty cans and cups. He did it to a second one. (Seriously, why were there tables set up in the crowd next to trash cans covered in empty cans and cups? Fans who watched empty cans meticulously placed upright on the table earlier had to wondering what the heck was going on.) Fans chanted, “This is awesome!” A spotlight shined on them as they fought in the crowd.

Owens hit Sami with hte ringside bell and the bashed him with Barrett’s monitor. Sami battled back, but KO shoved Sami off the top rope and Sami flipped onto the stacked tables at ringside. Fans chanted, “Holy shit!” Cole observed that Sami was holding his neck after the fall. KO then gave Sami a Fisherman’s buster onto a chair. He scored a near fall after a casual cover. Sami gave KO two suplexed onto his head including one on a chair. Fans chanted, “Holy shit!” KO pulled the ref into the path of a Helluva Kick. Charles Robinson ran to the ring and counted KO’s cover on Sami. Sami kicked out at two. KO clotheslined Robinson who took a hell of a bump. They replayed Robinson’s bump and the terrified facial expression before impact.

Sami set up a superplex, but KO blocked it and drove Sami to the mat with a Fisherman’s buster. Fans chanted “Holy shit!” KO scored a two count at 18:00. Cole begged Sami to “just stay down.” Producer Pete Williams came to ringside and told KO that Sami has had enough. KO cornered Sami and yelled, “It’s all your fault.” As KO seemed ready to set up a Cannonball in the corner, Sami charged at him with a Helluva Kick, good for a two count. Barrett said even the fans have seen enough and want it to end because it’s been so sickening. Sami threw some chairs into the ring and then pulled a chair out from under the ring that was wrapped in barbed wire. An “ECW” chant broke out.

Sami bashed KO across his back twice with the chair. Cole said, “Stop this madness!” Sami gave KO a drop toe hold into the barbed wire. KO cried out in agony. Sami gave KO a Blue Thunder Bomb onto the barbed wire chair bridged over two other chairs. He scored a two count. Cole was angry at KO for kicking out. “This is sickening,” Cole said in response to a “This is awesome” chant. KO countered a Helluva kick with a Pop-up Powerbomb. KO put a chair around Sami’s neck and then rammed him into the ringpost. Fans gasped. He did it a second time as a ref yelled that he has done enough.

KO gave Sami a powerbomb onto the ring apron. “You suck bastard!” yelled Cole. Cole noted that Jason Jordan and Shane Helms were also at ringside. (Ken Doane was, too.) KO powerbombed Sami two more times on the ring apron. KO rolled Sami into the ring and scored a three count. Cole said, “I hope you’re happy, you ruined a friendship.” He said Sami might have ruined Sami’s livelihood. Barrett said it was awful and no one wanted what they got. McAFee said it was awful.

WINNER: Kevin Owens in 26:00.

– KO was escorted toward the back, but he ended up shoving security aside Cole suggested they put handcuffs on him. When Owens went back after Sami, Randy Orton’s music played. KO rolled into the ring. Orton walked out. Cole said WWE’s Apex Predator was looking for revenge. Barrett told KO this was his worst nightmare. Owens encouraged him to enter the ring, but appeared to be an emotional wreck. Orton went after KO in the ring and delivered an RKO. He yelled at KO that he deserved it for trying to break his neck.

Orton stood over KO with a chair, but then tossed the chair aside and signaled for punt kick. Officials intervened and pulled Owens to ringside and then held Orton back. Orton then gave four security guys RKOs and played to the crowd as his music played.

(That didn’t feel like a match setting up a rematch at WrestleMania, but rather a final match. The angle with Orton seemed to pivot to an Orton vs. Owens match instead, obviously.

(4) MEN’S ELIMINATION CHAMBER: Drew McIntyre vs. C.M. Punk vs. John Cena vs. Logan Paul vs. Seth Rollins vs. Damien Priest

It makes sense the Cody Rhodes-Rock segment would go on last if the Chamber outcome will factor into it, including perhaps the Chamber winner accepting Rock’s offer if Cody turns it down.

When John Cena made his entrance, Cole said he has ten months left in his career. Drew McIntyre and Seth Rollins were the final two to enter. The bell rang 38 minutes into the hour. Seth bashed Drew’s head into the pod right in front of Punk.

Priest was released from his pod to be the third entrant. He and Priest chopped each other. Priest gave a Razor’s Edge toss of Drew onto Seth outside the ring. Drew powerbombed Seth onto Priest a minute later.

Logan was released next, becoming the fourth entrance. Priest held onto Drew’s hand and walked the top rope and came off with a huracanrana. Cole said Undertaker never did that. Seth kicked a charging Logan.

Cena’s pod entered next. He delivered a series of AA’s and then stood and raised his arm over Logan. He waved his hand and dropped the Five Knuckle Shuffle. (You gotta give it to him. He can still pull off the Five Knuckle Shuffle.) Drew caught Cena with a Claymore. He made the cover, but Priest rolled up Drew for a three count. Drew looked up at the WrestleMania sign and fumed. He delivered a Claymore to Priest. Cole asked who he’s going to blame now.

ELIMINATION #1: McIntyre in 12:00.

Logan stood on top of Punk’s pod and then leaped down with a frog splash onto Priest for a three count.

ELIMINATION #2: Priest in 13:00.

Logan stood and waited for Punk’s pod to open. Punk charged out after Logan and they swung away at each other. Punk rammed Logan into the cage wall of the Chamber. Punk turned back to Cena standing mid-ring. Cole talked about them having one of the most amazing rivalries in WWE history. Seth caught Punk with a running boot. Cena pulled Seth off of Punk. Seth shoved Cena. Seth yelled at Cena that Punk’s ass is his and he should stay out of it. He said he knows he’s been making movies a long time. Seth and Cena battled. Logan then clotheslined Cena. Fans booed. Cole said Logan is “wise beyond his years.”

Punk ducked a Logan clothesline and delivered a GTS for a three count.

ELIMINATION #3: Logan Paul in 18:00.

Cena, Seth, and Punk were in the ring. Cole said there were 26 world titles among them. He said all three will be inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame when all is said and done. A dueling chant of “Let’s Go Cena / C.M. Punk!” broke out. Cena lifted Seth for a running Hart Attack clothesline on Seth. Cole said it was an homage to Canada. Punk told Cena that now they can to fighting. Cena offered a handshake. Punk moved in and hugged him instead. They exchanged some words, then threw a barrage of wild swings at each other. Cena took Punk down and set up You Can’t See Me. Punk countered and set up a GTS. Cena countered that and applied an STF. He actually kinda had a tight grip on this one. Punk cried out in pain and teased tapping. Punk countered with a swinging neckbreaker.

Punk stood on the top rope and leaped onto Seth at ringside. He then climbed back to the top and landed a crossbody press. Cena rolled through and lifted Punk and tossed him over his head onto his shoulders for an AA for a near fall.

Seth went after Cena and gave him a bucklebomb into the chain Chamber wall. He followed by tossing Cena through the plexiglass wall of the pod. Cole said Seth could focus on Punk now that Cena was out of the picture. He delivered a Pedigree for a near fall at 26:00. Seth set up another Pedigree, but Punk backdropped out of it. Punk came back and landed a top rope elbow. He signaled for a GTS. He then lifted Seth, gut Seth slipped free and bucklebombed him and then landed a Stomp for a near fall.

Cena lifted Seth for an AA, but Seth slipped out. Punk gave Seth a GTS and then Cena delivered an AA. Punk scored a three count. Cole said Seth could’ve pinned Cena earlier, but his obsession with Punk cost him.

ELIMINATION #4: Seth Rollins in 29:00.

Fans chanted, “Let’s Go Cena! / Cena sucks!” Cena offered a handshake. Punk yanked him into a GTS and scored a believable near fall. Cena then gave Punk an AA for a near fall. As Seth was leaving the ring, he stomped Punk on the platform at ringside. Cena seized the moment and applied an STF mid-ring. Seth watched as Punk faded and eventually passed out. Cole said Seth just screwed Punk.

ELIMINATION #5: C.M. Punk in 32:00.

WINNER: Cena in 30:00.

-Cody Rhodes made his entrance. Cena was still standing in the ring. They had a few words and looked at the WrestleMania sign. Cole said the faces of two generations will battle at WrestleMania. Travis Scott came out. Then Rock made his entrance with Scott. Rock stared down both Cena and Cody. Barrett talked up the star power of The Rock. Cole said Cena has a big decision to make.

Rock put his hand on the side of Cody’s neck and face. He told Cody that the moment has arrived and he will embrace him as his brother and he would embrace Cody as his champion. “I want it all, Cody,” he said. “I want your mind, I want your soul. God have mercy, I need your soul!” He said if the answer is yes, the American Nightmare will live forever. He told Cody to look him in the eyes. He said if his answer is no, “then tonight the dream dies (pause) again.” Rock held his arms out.

Cody said: “I want it all, Rock. My soul no longer belongs to me. You know why, because I gave my soul to this ring and these people a long time ago.” Cena enthusiastically clapped in the background. Cody said, “Hey Rock, go fuck yourself!” Fans popped big for that. McAfee said, “What?!” Cena couldn’t stop celebrating in the background with a big smile on his face. McAfee said it was “one of the most shocking things ever said in the history of saying things.” Cena hugged Cody and then eyed Rock with a sinister look. Rock told him to take out Cena. Cena then kicked Cody in the crotch. “What the?” said McAfee. Cena looked down at Cody, then put on brass knuckles and punched him. “The Final Boss always has a plan,” McAfee said. He punched Cena in the forehead with the knux over and over. Cena hit Cody with a mic and then with the belt. Boos rang out. Cole asked, “Why does he need to sell out?” Cena held up the WWE Title belt. Cody stood, bleeding from the forehead. Cena rammed Cody with the belt. “After everything he has accomplished in his career, Cena had to stoop to this shit?” Some fans chanted, “You sold out!” It wasn’t nuclear heat.

Cena, Rock, and Scott left the ring as Cody was bleeding in the ring. Cole entered the ring to check on Cody.

(So if Cena didn’t win the Chamber, then what? I suppose if Cody had said yes, we could believe Rock and Cena planned to humiliate him by turning on him anyway. This helps explain why babyface wrestlers were critical of Cena not showing up for his retirement tour. This just doesn’t ring believable to me, and I don’t know if the majority of fans are going to buy in. I think they were trying recreate the magic of Hulk Hogan’s turn. This will generate a buzz, I suppose.)

So....what the fuck is the favor Punk wants of Heyman? Seemed like this would have been the time to call it in.

Overall, the PLE was fine. Zayn-Owens was the best match of the night.

(1) “HANGMAN” ADAM PAGE vs. MJF

When MJF made his entrance, actor Ken Jeong was shown giving him a thumbs down. Fans chanted “Cowboy Shit!” early. MJF gloated after some early offense and was booed. MJF made a comeback and then yelled that Hangman isn’t a main event personality and yelled, “My company!” MJF avoided a Buckshot Lariat and then landed an Alabama Slam and a guillotine DDT for a near fall.

Hamgman spit in MJF’s face and landed a short-arm lariat. When he set up the Buckshot Lariat, MJF rolled to the floor. MJF praised MJF’s smarts. MJF then applied a crossface back in the ring. He shifted into an armbreaker mid-ring. Hangman draped his boot over the bottom rope to force a break.

MJF took it to Hangman at ringside, then grabbed Schiavone’s headset and said he’s “the f—ing man around here.” Hangman and MJF countered each other at ringside in setting up tombstones. MJF eventually landed a leaping tombstone onto an unfolded chair at ringside. Taz said he had never seen that done before that way. Schiavone said Hangman’s neck had to break. The doc came over to check on Hangman. MJF entered the ring and began to hope for a countout win. Hangman beat the count so the match continued. MJF began to cry. MJF yelled, “Why you? Why not me?!” Taz said MJF was showing insecurity and jealousy.

Hangman countered MJF and delivered a Dead Eye and then landed Angel’s Wings. Hangman then waited for MJF to stand so he could hit a Buckshot. MJF sat up, looking dazed. Hangman landed the Buckshot for the clean win. Taz said Hangman and MJF were with AEW at the start of AEW and they delivered a great opening PPV match in Los Angeles. Excalibur agreed they were foundations of the company and also all of pro wrestling.

WINNER: Hangman in 19:00.

(Good to see a clean, decisive win in the PPV opener to set the tone. Overall, an intense battle that knew its place on the card and didn’t spam finishers or kickouts or violence. The key story of MJF avoiding Hangman’s Buckshot and the biggest spots of the match really stood out.)

(2) MERCEDES MONE vs. MOMO WATANABE – AEW TBS Title match

The bell rang 30 minutes into the hour. They battled back and forth early. Mercedes landed a powerbomb off the ring apron onto the floor at 5:00. An actual “CEO!” chant rang out.

When Watanabe took over, she mocked some of Mercedes’s mannerisms and then applied a chicken wing submission. Mercedes rolled Watanabe into a leverage two count. Mercedes then landed a backstabber. She followed up with a Meteora for a near fall. Mercedes looked frustrated afterward. Watanabe avoided a double-knees charge in the corner and took control. Watanabe landed a leaping double-knee drop onto Mercedes on the ring apron and then scored a two count.

Mercedes came back quickly and applied a crossface center-ring. Dueling chants of “Let’s Go Momo / CEO!” rang out as they battled mid-ring. Mercedes came out on top with a powerbomb for a near fall. Watanabe landed a top rope uranage for a near fall at 16:00. She followed with double underhook suplex for a two count. Watanabe landed several round kicks to Mercedes’s chest and head for a two count.

Mercedes avoided a top rope leap by Watanabe and then landed the Moné Maker followed by her submission finisher for a clean tapout win.

WINNER: Mercedes in 18:00.

(Another good match. Maybe a bit long given the crowd’s lack of investment in Watanabe, but they filled their time nicely. Another clean finish.)

(3) RICOCHET vs. SWERVE STRICKLAND (w/Prince Nana)

They fought back and forth early. When the action went to ringside at 4:00 with Swerve on the attack, Nana got in Swerve’s face about keeping it in the ring. Swerve shoved Nana down. Nigel had just been talking about Nana’s ultimatum. Swerve looked regretful immediately. Nana wasn’t accepting any explanation. He dismissively waved his arms and said he was done and walked to the back. Fans booed. Nigel said Nana showed his true colors. Ricochet then kicked a distracted Swerve and took over.

The commentators acknowledged Leslie Jones from “Saturday Night Live” was yelling at Ricochet in the front row. Ricochet yelled back at her. Ricochet landed a turning powerslam at 11:00 for a near fall. Ricochet came back with a huracanrana off the ring apron. Both tumbled to the floor. Ricochet stood first and threw Swerve onto the Spanish announce desk. He then stood on it and set up a move. Swerve countered and drove Ricochet’s shoulder and neck back onto the table.

Swerve threw Ricochet into the ring and then climbed to the top rope and landed a Swerve Stomp for a two count at 14:00. Ricochet rallied. Nana ran back to ringside and grabbed his robe back. Ricochet leaped through the ropes and landed on Nana. He then took the robe back and put it on. Swerve then leaped through the ropes at Ricochet. They adjusted mid-move and Ricochet reversed Swerve who landed almost head-first onto the ringside mat. Ricochet threw Swerve back into the ring.

Ricochet then gave Swerve the Vertigo for a near fall while still wearing the robe. Swerve kicked out at two. Nana entered the ring and took back the robe. Ricochet rolled up Swerve for a two count during the chaos. Swerve then landed two House Calls for a near fall. Swerve then landed another and scored a three count.

Excalibur said they have crowned a new top contender. Swerve picked up the robe and folded it up. He limped over to Nana and kneeled in respect as he handed it back to him. Nana hugg3ed Swerve and then broke into his dance. Fans popped and danced.

WINNER: Swerve in 19:00.

(Another good match with a raised energy level from the prior match. This sets up Swerve to face the Jon Moxley-Adam Copeland winner. The Nana drama ultimately felt weird, but the crowd loved the reconciliation and dance party.)

(4) KAZUCHIKA OKADA vs. BRODY KING – Continental Title match

The bell rang 19 minutes into the hour. The crowd popped for Okada getting chopped early. Brody dropped Okada with two clotheslines and a big backdrop. Brody leaped onto Okada at ringside. He played to the crowd, then charged Okada with a crossbody against the ringside barricade as Okada was sitting on a chair. Back in the ring he crashed into Okada in the corner with a cannonball and scored a two count at 9:00.

When Okada made a comeback, he brought a chair into the ring. As the ref got rid of the chair, Okada hit Brody with his belt. The ref scored a two count. Schiavone said Okada’s chair diversion didn’t work. Brody countered a Rainmaker attempt. Okada, though, came back and landed a Rainmaker for the win.

WINNER: Okada in 12:00 to retain the International Title.

(Given King’s level of push, it made sense this was the shortest match of the night. The finish wasn’t a surprise. Okada continues to be solid for the most part in the ring, but also coasting a bit. I wouldn’t have at all minded an upset here to give Brody a boost and spark something that jostles Okada out of the nonchalance of his current zone.)

(5) HURT SYNDICATE (Bobby Lashley & Shelton Benjamin w/MVP) vs. THE OUTRUNNERS (Turbo Floyd & Truth Magnum) – AEW Tag Team Title match

Lashley dominated early. Turbo hot-tagged in a few minutes in and stumbled as he went after Shelton. The crowd reacted. Truth knocked Lashley off the ring apron. They had Shelton down and did their bit playing to the crowd before dropping stereo elbows. Lashley entered the ring and took over. Truth threw Lashley into the ringside steps. Turbo and Shelton, meanwhile, exchanged strikes mid-ring. A minute later Shelton finished Turbo for the expected clean win. They showed Action Andretti & Lio Rush smiling at ringside.

WINNER: Hurt Syndicate to retain the AEW Tag Team Titles.

(If there was ever a gimmick that excused being clunky and somewhat awful at pro wrestling, it the mega-wound-up retro act of the Outrunners. That said, they shouldn’t get anywhere near a serious act or championship match in pro wrestling again.)

(6) “TIMELESS” TONI STORM (w/Luther) vs. MARIAH MAY – Falls Count Anywhere match for the AEW Women’s Title

Jim Ross joined in on commentary. Mariah came out first. When Toni came out, Mariab attacked her on the stage. Excalibur said this is the third match in the trilogy. Mariah took a swing at Luther. When she held up a zapper, Luther tried to take it. She dropkicked him into a table and he took a nasty bump backwards. Fans chanted “Holy shit!” and then “Let’s Go Toni!” Toni powerbombed Mariah off the stage through a table. Another “Holy shit!” chant broke out.

As they fought at ringside, Ross said he’s never seen a women’s match so hard-hitting and violent. Toni ended up bleeding heavily from her forehead. When they showed a close-up of the bloodflow on the big screen, fans gasped. Mariah then hung Toni upside down in the corner and charged at her and knocked a chair into her. When Toni sat up, she couldn’t see well from the blood.

Toni and Mariah each brought metal buckets into the ring. They each had a roll of white athletic tape and wrapped and then tipped their fists in broken glass that was in their buckets. Ross said the fans were emotionally invested. Toni landed the first punch. She then poured the broken glass out of the buckets. Toni then used the broken neck of the champaign bottle. Mariah came back with a low blow. Excalibur said it was rapidly becoming a horror film.

Mariah took Toni out of the corner with a huracanrana onto the glass. She followed up and scored a two count. Mariah was now bleeding heavily. An overhead cam showed Toni’s face a crimson mask. An “AEW!” chant broke out. Toni landed a Storm Zero for a near fall next. Ross wondered how much more they can could take. Nigel said this was for the sickos.

Toni grabbed her shoe from ringside. Mariah ran to the stage. Toni whipped her with her belt several times. Mariah took over. Fans stood and chanted, “This is awesome!” Ross said they are showing their respect and appreciation for what they are seeing. Nigel said they were sickos. Storm bashed Mariah with her shoe over and over and then leaped off of a storage crate onto a table with a piledriver for the win. “Thank god it’s over!” exclaimed Ross. “Thank god it’s over.” Schiavone said he has now seen it all. Ross called it a Hollywood ending.

WINNER: Storm in 13:00 to retain the AEW Women’s Title.

(This got a great response for the crowd who ate up the horror movie violence. Ross is right that images of this match will live on for a long time in the minds of fans. On balance, I’m not sure if they gain more than they lose from matches that go that far in terms of turning off more fans than what they gain from those they’re super-serving.)

(7) KONOSUKE TAKESHITA (w/Don Callis) vs. KENNY OMEGA – International Title match

Taz replaced Nigel on commentary. The bell rang 10 minutes into the third hour. Omega launched himself onto Takeshita at ringside a couple minutes in. Callis suggested Omega’s ticking time bomb intestines might explode during this match. Callis took some cheap shots at Omega at ringside, then sold that he broke his hand hitting him. Takeshita threw Omega back into the ring and mounted him with punches. He settled into a chinlock at 6:00. Fans were chanting “Kenny! Kenny!”

Omega leaped off the ring apron and drove Takeshita’s head into the ring apron. He then leaped onto the ringside barricade for a springboard move, but Takeshita shoved him down. He landed on his ribs against the ringside barricade. He clutched his abdomen afterward. Back in the ring, Takeshita caught Omega with a punch and then a brainbuster suplex for a two count at 11:00.

Omega came back with a springboard moonsault for a two count at 14:00. Takeshita rolled to the floor. Fans stood and clapped with Omega who ran teh ropes. Callis grabbed Omega’s boot. Takeshita returned to the ring and charged at Omega, sending him over the top rope with a clothesline.

Omega set up a table, then turned it over. Fans turned on Kenny and booed. He looked a bit put off by their reaction. He went for a brainbuster onto the table, but instead, Takeshita dropped him abdomen-first onto the tabletop that was flush on the mat. Takeshita turned the table sideways and then dropped Omega abdomen-first onto the table. Callis leaped up and down with excitement.

Back in the ring, Takeshita landed two leaping sentons onto Omega’s torso. He went for a third, but Omega lifted his knees. They stood and exchanged strikes. Omega delivered a snap dragon suplex at 21:00. Takeshita elbowed Omega in the gut. Omega fired back with a high knee and a powerbomb followed by a knee strike for a near fall. Takeshita came back with a Blue Thunder Bomb.

Takeshita knocked Omega off the top rope and he landed on his head on the ring apron. Fans with a view of the impact looked worried. The ref checked on him. He appeared fine and ended up sunset bombing Takeshita for a two count. They countered each other’s big moves. Takeshita landed a tombstone, then stood and delivered a leaping turning piledriver for a near fall at 25:00. Takeshita landed a running knee for a two count. He hit another for a one count. The crowd exploded with cheers at the one count kickout. Omega sat up and showed fire as a “Kenny! Kenny!” chant broke out.

Omega landed a ripcord knee and a leaping piledriver for a two count at 27:00. Fans chanted “Fight forever!” They stood and exchanges strikes. Omega drove Takeshita’s head into the mat with a rana. Callis stood. Omega landed a running V-Trigger. Callis held onto Omega’s arms to slow his momentum. Omega leveraged Takeshita’s shoulders down for a near fall. Takeshita escaped, but Omega scored a leverage three count right afterward for the clean win. Callis looked distressed afterward and accompanied a dejected Takeshita to the back.

WINNER: Omega in 29:00 to capture the International Title.

(Easily the best match of the night to that point with the most crowd investment.)

(8) KYLE FLETCHER vs. WILL OSPREAY – Cage match

Fletcher came out first. He eyed the cage and then climbed the side. He stood on the top of the cage and extended his arms, looking at the entrance stage. Omega made his entrance with the video ribbons around the arena adding to the atmosphere.

The bell rang 52 minutes into the third hour. Ospreay got in the first dose of offense, but Fletcher soon took over. Ospreay came back with a Stun Dog Milliionaire. Fletcher blocked an OsCutter and tossed Ospreay head-first into the side of the cage. Ospreay came up bleeding. Fletcher licked the blood from the side of the cage. Fans chanted, “You sick f—!”

Fletcher suplexed Ospreay onto the back of his head and neck. Ospreay sold it very well, cringing and freezing. Blood poured out of his cut as he kneeled. Fletcher tore off the top turnbuckle pad. Ospreay fought back, but Fletcher brushed him off and then went for top rope move. Ospreay knocked Fletcher off the ropes and Fletcher’s head hit the exposed turnbuckle. Ospreay threw Fletcher over the ropes and into the cage.

Ospreay landed a tornado dive off the top rope mid-ring for a near fall at 13:00. Ospreay said he was concerned for Fletcher. Fletcher blocked Ospreay’s next move, then crotched him on the top rope. Fletcher landed a powerbomb for a near fall. Both were bloodied and both were slow to sit up.

They exchanged various strikes mid-ring. A series of counters and rapid-fire exchanges led to a DDT by Ospreay. Fletcher then came back with a brainbuster suplex for a two count at 17:00.

mark Davis walked out and carried with him a black bag with apparatus. He threw it into the cage. Ospreay kicked the cage door into him. Ospreay pulled a bat wrapped in barbed wire out of the black bag. Ospreay raked his face with the barbed wire. Fletcher begged off. He reached into the front of his trunks and pulled out the United Empire armband that Omega talked about on Collision. Fletcher then gave Ospreay a low-blow and smiled with glee. He shoved the armband into Ospreay’s mouth. Fletcher then picked up the barbed wire baseball bat and swung, but Ospreay ducked and hit a quick Hidden Blade. He followed with a Storm Breaker for a two count. Davis entered the ring. Callis pointed out that there are no DQs in this match.

Davis went after Ospreay and choked him from behind. Ospreay gasped for breath. Davis pointed Fletcher toward Ospreay. Fletcher yelled, “You’re the one who wanted this! Not me!” Davis and Fletcher then set up a double-team move. Ospreay escaped and kicked a chair into Davis’s face. He kicked Davis out of the ring. They closed the cage door and thref at ringside relocked it. Ospreay then leaped off the side of the cage with a flying OsCutter for a convincing near fall. A “Holy shit!” chant rang out.

Fletcher climbed the cage. Ospreay grabbed his trunks. Fletcher turned around and had a screwdriver in his hands. He spoked Ospreay in the skull and then stabbed at him. He swung, but Ospreay moved and the screwdriver stuck in a turnbuckle. Fletcher landed a brainbuster suplex and then set up a chair. Fletcher landed a brainbuster suplex onto the chair for a two count. Fletcher dumped a bag of thumb tacks out of a black bag. They countered each other mid-ring into a sequence that ended with Ospreay giving Fletcher a Styles Clash onto the tacks for a two count.

Ospreay lifted Fletcher for a powerbomb, but Fletcher grabbed the cage and climbed it. Ospreay followed him to the top. Ospreay jabbed Fletcher with a screwdriver up there. They set up a move on the top of the cage. Taz said he didn’t like this. They stood. Ospreay leaped off the top of the cage and flipped Fletcher to the mat with a Spanish Fly. Excalibur said, “Los Angeles was holding its breath. They are now free to exhale.” Ospreay roared and tore off his elbow pad. Fletcher yelled at Ospreay, “I f—in’ hate you, you son of a bitch. F— you!” Ospreay then landed a Hidden Blade and a Tiger Driver ’91 for the three count.

WINNER: Ospreay in 31:00.

(A crazy wild and physical and athletically thrilling cage match. They certainly played up the history between each other and how personal it was. As is often the case these days, they went further than needed to in terms of spamming big stunt moves and kicking out of finishers to a point of any semblance of selling being farcical. Mainly, I didn’t like Fletcher taking the Spanish Fly off the top of the cage and then sitting up afterward and yelling at Ospreay like that. He shouldn’t have had anything left at that point in order to sit up and be that forceful and articulate with his words.)

I wanted to watch Revolution but 50 bucks is just too steep for AEW right now. If it had been 25 or 30, I might have bought in.

I'm honestly kind of curious to see if that Max discount ever comes to pass. Like, I dunno, I'd probably pay $25 or maybe $30 for an AEW PPV but that's it. The product is utter shit but their PPVs seem....... okay. TNA is better overall but their app is nowhere.

Tony Khan is one of the stupidest people ever to live. So many good talents, and this is what he gets to. Toni Storm is garbage, Mone is shit, Moxley consistently kills ratings and is going to lose to Swerve so Lashley and MVP and Shelton don't quit, Okada and then Garcia are going to job to Omega to pretend that the forty million belts in this shit company mean anything, then Omega will beat Swerve and lose to Lashley and no one will fucking care because this show is fucking trash.

Fuck Tony Khan. Props to Kevin Owens for staying in the big pond, and to Penta, and to Fenix, and to Starks. Fuck Jade she's a talentless cunt and always has been.

Tony Khan is objectively one of the stupidest motherfuckers on earth. Play with your toys all you want you dumb fuck when Trevor Lawrence leaves you're fucked. How has this guy not secured a spot in the cabinet?

(9) JON MOXLEY vs. ADAM COPELAND – AEW World Title match

Jim Ross returned to the announce desk for this main event. Copeland made his ring entrance first. Fans sang his song and he seemed moved by that. Mox then came out, clutching his briefcase as he walked through the crowd and into the ring.

Justin Roberts did ring introductions. Copeland was introduced simply as “Cope” by Justin. The bell rang 35 minutes into the fourth hour. Copeland punched Moxley as he was trash-talking him early. They exchanged strikes mid-ring.

Copeland leaped off the top rope onto Mox on the floor. Mox fought back and threw Copeland around ringside. Mox went up to Ross and told him he’s seen the beginning of Copeland’s career and he’s going to be eye-witness to the end. Mox put Copeland back in the ring and scored a two count. The camera went to a wide angle of the full arena, then panned over to Samoa Joe, Hook, and Katsuyori Shibata sitting in a luxury suite. Hook was snacking.

Copeland made a comeback at 14:00 to almost no crowd reaction. Nobody left the arena, but it sounded like 80 percent did. “It’s our main event tonight, and boy what an act these two had to follow,” said Ross. A small, kind of sad “Cope! Cope!” chant rang out faintly for a few seconds. Copeland superplexed Moxley and scored a two count. Copeland dove through the ropes and speared Mox.

A few minutes later, when in control, Mox yelled that he was going to break Copeland’s neck. They battled at ringside. Mox got the better of Copeland. He rolled him into the ring and scored a two count. Mox then applied a Bulldog Choke. Mox landed a leaping piledriver for a two count at 17:00. Moxley went back to a Bulldog Choke. Copeland eventually grabbed the bottom rope. Ross said he wasn’t sure if that was a blessing or a curse. The ref scolded Moxley for not breaking whne he told him to.

Moxley went to ringside and picked up a chair. The ref leaned through the ropes with the chair. Copeland rolled up Moxley. Moxley powered out and sent Copeland into the ref who crashed to the floor. Moxley threw two chairs into the ring. He set up a Conchairto. Fans stood in anticipation. Copeland upkicked the chair into Mox.

With both men down, Wheeler Yuta walked out. He slid into the ring. Excalibur said Moxley showed zero respect for him. Yuta observed both wrestlers as they stood. He hit Copeland with Busiaku knee. He slid the briefcase to Moxley. Jay White ran in and attacked Yuta. He yanked the case from Mox and swung it. Moxley ducked and the case KO’d Copeland. Yuta then yanked White to the floor. They brawled to the back. Moxley crawled over and covered Copeland. The ref returned and counted very slowly. Copeland kicked out at three. That got what could be the official gif snippet of the definition of “mild applause.” Copeland then gave Moxley a spear for a very near fall.

Copeland stood and encouraged the crowd to cheer. He then speared Moxley two more times. Christian Cage showed up at ringside and yanked the ref out of the ring. He hit Copeland with the case and signed the contract to cash in. Roberts said it was now a three-way. Christian speared Copeland and scored a two count. Christian yelled at the ref, then delivered a Killswitch. Mox then leaped back into the match and put Christian in a Bulldog Choke. Christian put his hand on Copeland’s chest as he was in the bulldog for a two count. Mox yanked Christian a few feet away and torqued. Christian was out. The ref called for the bell. Fans groaned. Mox escaped with his belt.

WINNER: Moxley in 27:00 to retain the AEW World Title.

(Well, that had some late twists that woke up the crowd. I suppose it’s a “clever” way to keep the belt on Mox without Copeland doing the job. Does this reignite a Copeland-Christian feud? Does anyone want that? The match itself was good, but it’s so hard to judge considering how numb the crowd was to big spots by the time they got to this match. They witnessed over five hours of wrestling since the bell rang for the first pre-show match.)

-Mox returned to the back. Nana met him there. Mox set his briefcase down and had a tense staredown with him. Swerve leaped off the stands above the exit tunnel and leaped onto Mox with a double-stomp. Swerve said it’s his house. His music played to end the show.

AAA strips former WWE champ & AEW giant of tag team titles

It seemed like the dawning of a new era in the AAA tag team division when Raj Dhesi (aka Jinder Mahal) and Satnam Singh won the AAA World Tag Team Championship last year. I say that in jest, because the duo never returned to defend the titles.

AAA announced that they stripped Dhesi and Singh of the tag titles, as of March 19, 2025. No names were given of the now former champions in the official statement, so it’s not out of the realm of possibility that AAA may have even forgotten themselves who had the belts.

Dhesi & Singh won the gold with help from Jeff Jarrett at Triplemania XXXII: Mexico City (Aug. 17, 2024). They dethroned reigning champs Psycho Clown & Negro Casas in a three-way bout with Dr. Wagner Jr. & Galeno Del Mal. In the end, Jarrett clobbered Negro Casas with his guitar, and Dhesi scored the winning pin.

This was a notable moment if only for the former WWE champion teaming with an AEW giant. Dhesi was making moves after being released from WWE, so potential was in the air to see what would come next for the Maharaja.

Well, it turns out that nothing was next. The tag title reign for Dhesi & Singh lasted 214 days without defending the belts once.

Kevin Owens revealed his neck is fucked after 25 years of wrestling and needs surgery so his match with Randy Orton's been scratched from WrestleMania. He's expected to miss at least 6 months.

If you don't watch Smackdown, go find the Charlotte Flair/Tiffany Stratton exchange from yesterday. It was funny, it went totally off the rails. Flair couldn't handle getting that Xpac heat, Tiffy was trying to get her lines in, it was a trainwreck.

I can’t believe what TIFF said. Don’t want to spoil it, but gottdamnn. There is no recovering from that.

Charlotte’s gonna be applying for HS Volleyball coaching jobs for next school year, lol
