England are just taking it easy on summer holidays. Still won the group without breaking much of a sweat.
Not really saying much when the US could’ve won that group

Don’t England have this tradition of being pretty underwhelming in the group stages but then getting better at the knockout stages? We’ll see.

Basically you can't blame England for not running their guts out in the last game, it was the last one of the group phase and the last thing you need at that point is lots of yellow cards and injured players so it's better to keep things on a reasonable level.

However, the English game wasn't reasonable, it was plain boring, which again is understandable but I never liked that style of administrative footie. Late-Löw-era Germany played in a similar way and it always drove me crazy, I mean, nobody expects them to wreck their bones in group phase but they've let quite a few clear chances slide. Maybe the team isn't really a team yet.

You know what's funny, guys, I had a few days off and managed to watch quite a few of the games so far but had to let Netherlands - Austria and Georgia - Portugal slide due to various dates and chores, and what happened? They turned out to be two of the best games so far, thank you very much.

Man, did Portugal and Holland get an ass-beating, eh. Congrats to our neighbours Austria, well done, and hip hip hooray for Georgia, it's a bit cruel but oh so much fun to make Ronaldo cry. :D

Wellll... Italy is out, congrats Switzerland, well played, well deserved. The still current EC champion Italy did not look good at all.

Denmark - Germany is on - again -, had to be postponed for a while in the 34th due to a heavy thunderstorm.

Pfft. England left it a bit late in that match.
They played like shit, shit their pants that they were going out (which would have been deserved), played about 9 minutes of ok football against a mediocre side and got a couple of goals, went 1 up, sat back again and nearly conceded multiple times.

I don't know what they're trying to do, I don't understand Southgate at all in this tournament.

They call this type of play "ergebnisorientiert" (output-driven) over here, it's ugly but does the trick.

There's a certain irony in the fact that the German team got accused of this for decades, specially by the British sports press.

Yeah, from 80 minutes in England changed the tempo and went full attack and got a goal in the last minute. Then Kane got a header in. It was rough, but a win is a win.

I don’t hold much hope of them beating Switzerland in the next round though.

It would be funny if England won the tournament with every pundit and fan moaning and complaining after every game.

The defense looked pretty dodgy today. Slovakia should have kept pressing.

The talent is there somewhere. Just not playing cohesively as a team right now but continuing to scrape through with the bare minimum of effort.

PS. Suck it, @Tw3ek! :D

Well, if it makes you feel any better, I can assure you the British press are not being any less critical of England doing it. They're getting absolutely roasted here.

I'm glad I was at work and saw nothing of the Austria Netherlands match, 😅
