My wife doesn’t even call her parents mom and dad…they all have cute but respectful personalized nicknames…and I address them by those.

And they have one for me too. It’s the equivalent of Papa Bear.

It never even occurred to me, but I can count the number of times I've met her parents on one hand.
I consider myself lucky in that respect. Nothing wrong with them, but my wife has clearly not made it a priority to see them, or she has done so without me.

Nope. When there's kids involved, I've seen parents call them whatever the kids call them which makes sense.

My dad tried to get my wife to call him "Captain" when they first met (his military rank) but everyone laughed at him and I think she just calls him Mr. <My Last Name>. Love my dad but he's a fucking dufus.

I sometimes call my father in law dad, but it's not very often. Typically it's just "Ken and Kathy."

I call them by their name or actually just 'hey' for the most part.

Yeah I do. It's just what people do here, call them by their relationship, be it at work or family.
