Your tax dollars at work: California might ban dark colored cars?

That must be a regional thing. It's on Thursday here.

Yeah...
It was a problem that Jill, from accounting, pointed out.
You see, the calendar program lists Thursday with an R.
Then, Bob, from accounts receiving, insisted that TTR didn't look as good on the calendar as TTT did.
We voted to move it.
Yeah...
It's a very progressive workplace.

My point is that I would not care either way. I wouldn't care if all cars were white, or they were all green, or all blue or all black. Whoopide-doo. If 'Liberal rage' is to get worked up over some perceived social injustice, then 'Conservative rage' must be to get all bent out of shape over inconsequential nonsense like the color of a car. That's about the same level as feeling outrage because your office suspended 'casual Fridays'.

The greater point is that it's that kind of "whoopdie-doo" attitude that allows these sorts of ridiculous measures to get passed.

The rage comes not from something so inconsequential as the color of a car, but the idea that the legislature eagerly wastes time and tax money listening to the hysteria of these nutty interest groups, and pass new mandates in the name of "the greater good" when most representatives are terribly uneducated on the measures being voted on. "Is my party voting for it? Okay, I'll vote for it too."

It makes a nice change from wasting time and tax money listening to interest groups like big tobacco, the oil companies, and the NRA.

I don't know what change you mean. It's all the same to me.

Whatever happened to governing for the people, by the people? Now all they do in California is pass some random measure, spend a lot of money, then decide how they should make up for it with "revenue" increases.

If I had a time machine, I could send you back to the late 1700s to get a look at it. But don't say, "Whatever happened..." like it was something that existed at some point during our lifetimes, or our parents', or grandparents', and we somehow lost it recently.

2nd Tea Party... only way things will ever change.

But I've said too much already. 'sides, no one would
have the balls anyhow, and guys like me are too cynical
to get the ball rolling.

Face it guys. Shit like this is "normal" now, and America's
better days are behind her in spite of whatever bullshit
Obama might say on Television.

Better start learning Mandarin Chinese amongst a few
other languages. Nobody stays on top forever, and no
Empire does either. I love what the USA is "supposed"
to be, but it's gone now. One day, those of us with a
fuck this shit attitude will have our 10 minute window
and die full of lead more than likely, but it'll be better than
living a bullshit existence. Right now, we're just marking
time.

TV sucks, Movies suck, Porn can't go anymore hardcore,
legislation is a joke, politicians usually are crooks, the
economy sucks balls... Mexico has made Texas Northern
Mexico for all purposes... graffiti everywhere the eye looks...
hard working citizens are pissed on by the haves, and the
crooks and low lifes out there prey on the liberally stupid
and unarmed, the courts further letting off the scum instead
of looking the other way while "good" people hang some sum
bitches from trees and go all Nasty Boys on the scum.

Time is ending... We're fucked. Enjoy what you can while
it lasts, I'm going to try to, then put on my shades, lock 'n load
and rock 'n roll in a final moment someday. Unless I run into
John Titor again, then I'll head to his worldline.

And when exactly did it exist?

Was it when we enacted a campaign of [murder and] forced relocation of the Native American peoples?

Or was it when blacks were enslaved?

Maybe it was after we freed the slaves but still didn't let them vote?

Although it could have been when we wouldn't let women vote?

Or maybe it was when we sold out the Polish to the Soviet Union [thanks for all the hard work guys, see ya in 50 years!), engaged in a war against a barely industrial third world nation because they posed a threat to national security?

But the more I think about it, it was probably when we supported governments who were directly opposed to what we were "supposed to be about" simply because the enemy of our enemy is our friend?

In short, I don't buy your argument one bit.

PS: Fuck the Boston Tea Party. This country was truly formed in 1787, something we oft overlook due to the more romantic (but also of paramount importance) American Revolution.

All this over the color of a car, folks.

No. All this over a government full of politicians that act like royalty. Can you tell me one thing the government has done for you, beyond providing you safety from foreign invaders? What have they done for you personally?

Do you feel like you pay more in taxes than you receive in services?

Trust me, unless you are one of the elite, or living in the projects, you are getting it up the corn hole compliments of the politicians.

Find a country that has done a better job? Can you think of one?

I spent a number of months in Switzerland, the epitome of European refinement; and women are still treated very much second class and have no real positions of power, blacks were almost non-existent largely due to the fact that citizenship isn't granted to them, and we all know about their affinity for Nazi's and Nazi cash stolen from the Jews. Tell me what nation has more freedoms and equality than we do, past or present?

I admit, our nation has done some things wrong, but overall, I think we have also done some things very good. Every time we have made mistakes, it has been the political elite making decisions that are self serving. We need to change how we elect political officials. We need people that actually represent the majority of US citizens, instead of fringe groups on the top and bottom of society.

Seriously, does anyone think spendthrift Pelosi is good for this country? Does anyone think inexperienced Obama is good for this country? Dont you believe there are better people out there somewhere?

Wasnt there a time during the campaign where you said to yourself, "This is the best our nation has to offer for leadership? An old fart that puts himself to sleep when he talks, and an inexperienced sycophant that cannot possibly deliver what he promises?" The short answer is, they are not the best this country has to offer for leadership. They are lazy government employees that have an entitlement mentality, just like the fat pig working at the DMV issuing licenses. They consume, and consume, and take what doesnt belong to them because they have government endowed power and think they are above the common man.

We need better people to run our country.

blah blah blah blah blah blah.

I was just really pointing out that the notion that "this generation is worst than the last" and that the "good times for this nation are past" are completely ridiculous statements and modes of thinking.

There was no previous "golden age" in American history at any point in the past. It's the same old bullshit that members of society have said every decade about the previous decade, and new generation, probably since the fucking dawn of civilization.

Anf of course, somone will come in and point to how i'm full shit and cite examples of how this upcoming generation and this current era is definitively full of shit and actually worse than the previous. It's just the same old tired shit to which i'll ultimately have to reply to as "yeah, ok, think whatever the fuck you want "

You've completely misinterpreted what I was getting at.

Also, I don't think we need to change how we elect government officials.

You don't create a better society with better laws, you create a better society with a better citizenry. More legislation is rarely a solution. The system isn't bankrupt, the but a hell of a lot of people within the system are.

Who the fuck cares what color your car is? Sure, it's a dumb proposal, but what if everyone did have a white car? Would it be the end of your world? "How we live our lives"... Oh no, they are taking away our freedoms! Is having a dark green car how you express the "real you" to the world around you? Why don't you just get a tattoo or a nose ring or something?

If you are a goth, it does take away your ability to express yourself.
