Usually I collect jp AES games, now that I have some MVS carts I wanted some classy inserts for them.
Because I wasn't satisfied with the jp inserts I've found I started this Project:
"Japanese Style MVS Shockbox Inserts"

You can help (!) if you can...
...provide high resolution scans or digital artwork (pm me for dropbox-access).
...type japanese Hiragana, Katakana and Kanji on your Keyboard. (pm for a list of what is needed right now).
...give me feedback. Tell me what you would have made different or what you like about my inserts.

I rely on your feedback and support to make them perfect! Please participate if you like my stuff!

-> PICASA GALLERY <-
-> Download my inserts here <-

=================================================
Ongoing Discusion / Feedback needed:
-change the title 'Shodown' to 'Spirits' to match the jap version.
-make NAZCA logo black on Big Tournament Golf spine.
-make the back of the Metal Slug insert black instead of white.
=================================================
CHANGELOG:
June 29th 2012 - unified the look of the box on the lower back-insert. agreed to always provide 2 versions of an insert, one with the round faces logo and one with the MVS logo.
July 2nd 2012 - introduced japanese genre-text under the screenshot on the spine.
=================================================
Requests for Inserts (no particular order):
Last Blade
Last Blade 2
Neo DriftOut
Real Bout FF
Real Bout FF Special
Savage Reign
Shock Troopers
WakuWaku 7
Sengoku 2 FF (delayed due to lack of artwork)

Also: if you can provide hi-res scans of game-artwork please get in touch.
Thank You!

I really like the Neo Drift Out cover; very very cool look to it. Actually, I like the style of the FF one too; just the eyes gives it that edge. Those are some really cool design choices!

So since all feedback is positive I'll be releasing my source files for download.
Is there anything you would like to add or change?
Any requests for a certain title?
As I will need them for the carts I have I'll be doin these next if there aren't any requests:
World Heroes
WakuWaku 7
Neo Turf Masters
Pop n Bounce
Art of Fighting
Savage Reign

Also for pretty much every PGM1 game.

Thanx guys! Glad y'all like it.

Very Nice! I'd love to get the PGM inserts when you are done with them. Your Shin Samurai Spirits insert is awesome. Please make one for Last Blade 2 and Breakers Revenge!

Just finished the World Heroes insert.
shockbox_insert_worldheroes.jpg

This is the first one that I uploaded in its native resolution so you guys might want to check out the zoom-tool in picasa to see the quality of my inserts, it's well worth a look.
Alternatively if there is no zoom (means you don't have a google account), here's the full resolution file:
http://www.sendspace.com/file/3jfd2m

It's a 9,2MB Jpeg file, RGB@300DPI
I do all inserts in CMYK, ISO coated V2 300% ECI profile.
All Logos and most of the fonts are selfmade vectors so they will look awesome and crisp when printed.

I guess Strikers1945 will be next...

World heroes looks great, as usual;) Looking forward to strikers, like Jeffkun mentioned interest in Last Blade 2, I would also like to see Last Blade 1, whenever you have time.

Strikers coming through!

There are 2 Versions, A and B
shockbox_insert_strikers1945plus_a.jpg

A -> original Strikers 1945 Plus Artwork

shockbox_insert_strikers1945plus_b.jpg

B -> uses Art from Strikers 1945

If you are like me and enjoy a nice old-school look on you game-covers, then B is for you.
If you need it as authentic as is gets then you pick A.

Personally, I think Version A's Artwork sucks, it looks like generic crap, low-cost 3D quick'n dirty made.
The Artist who originally designed the Strikers Artwork is Yoshiyuki Takani, check out his other works.

You wouldn't happen to have some nice crisp scans of Sonic Wings 3, would ya? :D
My AF3 shockbox insert would definitely benefit from better source material.

Any comments about the Strikers insert?
Which one would you prefer, vers A or B?

My vote is for "B" also. The color, composition & oil-painting style look much nicer than the CGI variant.
For some reason I find the blurring effect & "coming right for ya" angle of the planes in "A" a bit unsettling as well. :)

Hey guys,
I'm having a hard time with my computer this weekend... Saturday I fried my graphics card in the attempt to clean it :-/
I uploaded some more hi-res versions of what I had on an usb-stick, unfortunately there seems to be something fishy with the strikers inserts because they did not upload in full resolution.
Please watch out in picasa as follows:
-> Click on Insert -> show details -> resolution -> must be 4559 x 2774 Pixels
if that's the case you can safely download and print the insert, if the resolution is lower please wait until I have my computer fixed. I have a hardware-raid so I'm not able to get files from the HDDs from another computer, sorry.

I'm still open for suggestions regarding the design of the inserts. You may use the comments in picasa for convenience.
