Hey man, find a DUO-R. From what I've read they use much nicer caps. So you wouldn't need to bother with a recap.

Last I checked, they don't mind selling to noobs like yourself.

I bought a parts/repair PCE Duo and did the re-capping and corrosion repairs myself. In the end, a large power resistor was the culprit for the lack of sound.

Edit: I haven't opened my recent Duo's so the mods may be shitty. They work great though .

Yea, I don't really follow the modding scene. For Neo Geo Stuff I use one specific person here and for the PCE stuff I've used several.

If you get a Duo and it hasn't been capped yet thesteve on the pcfx forums does solid work. He recapped my original Duo this past October and had it back to me within a week. I believe it was $60 for the cap change and that included shipping back to me. My Duo works like a champ since. If you post a wtb thread at pcfx I can put in a word for ya. There is someone there that I am sure can help you.

I support this option as well. If you're just getting into the system no one will give you shit about buying with a low post count, unless you want like a TG16 + TGCD in their original boxes for "shelf display".

Also, just grab a "junk" one off YAJ and send it to someone to get recapped. I've done this 2 or 3 times and they've all been ok. One had some corrosion but they were all repairable.
