I'm playing for survival because I am still trying to get a 1CC on this. I was so close a while back and it frustrated the crap out of me so I took a break from it. Hopefully, this month will get me closer to this goal.

Is Mega Black Label the same? That's the version I'm playing on mame. Anyways, first credit I ever played of this game, lots of room for improvement.

Mega Black Label is not the same game. Scores go much higher in that version, plus the Ice Palace stage.

2nd credit ever at this game - my first try was better but I did hit PrintScreen instead of the F12 key in MAME - good move.

Well I guess someone has to make the 2nd worst guy feel better - glad to help.



I really like this game. The theme is nice, the controls are easy to execute and the selectable difficulty allows for a good and easy entry.

Just keep on trying, it will grow on you , you will see. I find this game very entertaining for beginners (playing for survival) because the difficulty is very gradual and never too brutal.

Will travel today to Tokyo, plenty of chances to play the game again

Having consulted the FAQ again: Are we playing with the secret unlockable characters and what is the up/down option under the character selection? (when I choose a killer gal)
And finally: What is this "yata!" they scream after each completed stage, I remember Chun Li cheering that way when she won.

EDIT: I considered that this would be a cool game to use with my Windy Supergun - but let me guess: The cost is is pure gold?

made a bit more progress (selecting higher levels) and still admire the stages - this game is really beautiful. A shame that at the moment I select LvL3 I don't have time to enjoy the stages any more because I'm busy like hell dodging stuff
Those unlocks from the FAQ didn't really work on my MAME version, will have to check that back again - so far only playing with Windia and Casper (I enjoy Windia more atm because of the more widespread autofire)

I really kick myself for not getting this on Steam at Halloween (when it was 50 % off) - still a bit reluctant to dish out $20 for a Steam version - but the more I play it the closer I am to doing that

The game is well worth the 20 bucks on steam. My MAME doesn't run Deathsmiles quite as well as the steam version but that's prolly my low end computer more than anything else.

If you have a 360 it's pretty cheap, although the US release has a slight speed increase. Slowdown is handled a bit differently. The steam release feels closest to the PCB speed when compared to the US 360 release, the JP release is also pretty decent but it doesn't come with MBL, it's DLC.

The JP platinum ver includes MBL. It (along with the first JP release) is region locked iirc.

Hate to break it to you but that blue and purple background means you were playing Mega Black Label, not regular Deathsmiles. That 212m score is much easier to get on MBL.

If the background isn't convincing, take a look at the roses on the next score. That icy blue should be a deep red like Rosa's outfit.
