Nice score, not sure if that's inspiring or discouraging

It shouldn't be discouraging. The 6 million realm is where you'll be if you can no miss clear the game. You get a huge bonus for each life left in stock, and you can hold a max of 9.

Assuming you can get the no miss clear, the difference makers for scoring are as follows :

Making sure you can nail as many chains as possible.
Identify the best route for scoring potential/find the best stages that will yield high point value chains (I have yet to do this).
And on a small scale some bosses can be milked for marginal points, although not infinitely.

Technically I have a pretty low score here.

EDIT: I also believe Tiat Young is the superior ship for scoring ( I don't fully understand why) I made a mistake and listed my run as "Tiat". I really used proco though.

I want to say that the bottom line of levels are the hardest and "may" yield the highest bonuses. But yea you really need to no miss the entire game or have 9 in reserve when you finish. Last bosses usually pummel a couple of lives though which sucks. Good score death!

Right. It's possible to die and still clear the game with 9 lives in stock. But clearing the game with a miss mid-way in or later is harder to do than no missing IMO.

Well that was a mess of run, made it all the way to the last zone and on the last boss proceeded to get pummeled for 4 lives. Using Tiat also gives you lvl 2 firepower to start off with too, So keep that in mind.
I ran the bottom line of levels all the way, seemed that some of the stages were rather short compared to others. So I guess the quest begins for the path that is the longest. Playing on the PVM through A/V still doesn's save how bad the pic looks on the genny :lolz:

Oh yeah, I remember seeing a Sagaia at a local store a few days ago. I'll have to pick it up tomorrow.

Well, this game is better than I remember it being. Still not a fan of the slow pacing "look at how cool these enemies are" cinematic view changes though. Maybe the pacing issues are for masking load times?

Important safety tip: Creating a save file wipes the high score list. If you no longer have your old save files, make sure you make a new one before you start playing.

Getting better...

Never put much time into Sagaia before as my first impressions weren't too favorable but now I'm starting to appreciate it :)

I decided to allow posting of Darius II scores from other systems, saturn, PCE, arcade and SMS since it has been a bit slow this month. I know there are a few people who don't have it on the genny but still want to get in on the action. I will put those scores in a separate category obviously.

This is a little off-topic, but is there any issues in using a PS3 component cable on a PS2 to play PS1 games? I've heard the AV-out has the same pinout. I'd like to play Einhander for the first time looking as good as possible.

That should be totally fine.

And two of my favorite bosses. How can you not like Yamoto and Grand Octopus?
