Is ArcadeWorks known for timely shipping?

I chose to order an Omega from ArcadeWorks. The website listed them "in stock" and shipping in "2-3 days."

After about 10 days, AW posted on facebook something about them dealing with problems with another one of their products, BLW, but that the problem had been dealt with.
I messaged the facebook account asking for a status update. They assured me the issue was with the insane polar vortex temperatures and that they would begin shipping very soon. That's totally understandable, though I think they're in California and I'm in Colorado, and I don't think the weather was so treacherous between us.

I waited another couple of weeks, and emailed them. No answer. I messaged the facebook account again and was told that essentially crap happens and that my order would ship in about a week or something.

After another couple weeks, I message again and they're real apologetic this time and assure me that I haven't been forgotten about, and that "my order is scheduled to be shipped next week. We'll give you overnight delivery on the house because of the delay". Again, I thanked them and decided to be patient, especially for such a specific timeline that I was given. Well, "next week" came and went. I was told that on a Saturday or Sunday, and that week has passed, and another is about to start.

Is this par for the course with this guy? Have I been ripped off? All I want is a friggin' shipping confirmation for the product that I paid for, which was sold with a shipping time of 2-3 days.

If this is normal, please let me know.

edit: Not 100% correct with the timeline there, but it was ordered January 15th, for reference.

Item ships in 2-3 days, waits a month and a half without shipping confirmation, proceeds to ask if this is normal.

Think about it.

To be more specific, does he have a reputation for shipping late, but still coming through?

Ok here is how it went for me

Like you I ordered an Omega a couple of years ago and yes Arcadeworks website said "in stock" and shipping in "2-3 days". I emailed them to verify the "in stock" and shipping in "2-3 days" and got a response saying yes the Omega console was in stock. I placed may order in early May, expecting it like you with in two weeks. Time went by and after email after email no response and no Omega. Finally in June I got response saying that my order was a couple back and it was delayed until early July. Since the owner is active member here I didn't worry about or get mad. Last week of July came and still on Omega on my doorstep, so I sent them two emails with zero replies. The second week of August I finely get a reply saying that it had been shipped.

Everything arrived perfect in mint condition well packed etc, so in the end I got everything. I am pretty sure these are assembled by someone in their spare time that has a full time job and a family. In the end you will get your Omega.

Thank you, I kind of wanted that response. There's a lot of consoles out there, and I have not heard any specific negative comments about the shipping. I'm not especially worried, but I would like a realistic timetable for delivery. The guy has told me a couple times it was being shipped imminently, which is kinda lame.

Can confirm that "In Stock" doesn't mean "Will Ship Shortly". It took about two months from when I ordered mine for it to hit my doorstep. He builds them to order, so the turnaround time varies depending on how busy he is.

At least I was able to get a few controllers and games all ready to go while I wait for the console.

If the guy was straight up honest about it being made to order instead of in stock, this would alleviate some frustration.

On the other hand, being honest would be, "yeah I'll do it...when I feel like it."

To answer your question, no. It takes forever, but I haven’t heard of anyone not getting what they ordered. I think he builds them in spare time so you’re at the mercy of his life’s goings on and whoever’s ahead of you in line.

I've dealt with a lot of modders, expect delays with 90% of them, communication varies, these are handmade and tools break, wrong or delayed expected parts.

There's always a D-lite, sonofx51 (Jose I think) or others who take the money and run.

All that said, you will get your Omega ;)

I was always disappointed D-Lite did that. He seemed solid.

You have not been scammed. Are you sure it said 2-3 days? Right now it says 2-3 weeks.

It took a good 6 - 8 weeks when I ordered one a few years ago. You will get it, just have to be patient.

Yeah, thanks for the replies errbody. I wasn't actually extremely worried, just wish the guy communicated better. Definitely want to give him the benefit of the doubt, the machine is supposed to be pretty good.

I’ve dealt with Quan a bunch of times for various orders. He’s a good dude, just buried in work, I believe.
As others have said, you haven’t been scammed, you’ll get your Omega, just not as quickly as you had hoped.

Pretty much what everyone has said. Pretty misleading on stated lead time. Mine took months but eventually arrived. Nice system, awful communication. I believe Chris was actually helping out on orders at the time and he was very helpful.

Yeah, if the website stated "ships in 4-8 weeks," I'd be delighted, but this guy has actually replied to my inquiries with "yours is shipping this week," and now 2 full weeks later it has not shipped. I don't mind if it's taking a while, but please don't lie or make up a deadline you can't meet.

In case anyone was curious, I got a "shipping label printed" notification, 1 day before the 7-week mark. He did honor the free overnight delivery, which, frankly, I didn't expect! So, I am receiving it at the 7week, 1 day mark.
Also, the Arcadeworks website has reviews in it, which detail the delays. I didn't check them because it said in stock, ships in 2-3 days. Soooooo, 7 weeks looks like the turnaround right about now.

I apologize the lengthy delays. When I originally cut down the lead time to <1 week, it was in good faith as I had built what I thought was a healthy stock to keep up with a lead time of that duration. However, they were snatched up fairly quickly and became oversold more quickly than anticipated. Compounded with the long over-waited (6+ months) restock of the BLW, getting omega production back on track was difficult. I'm keeping the lead times at more conservative estimates even though I'm more or less up to date with omega builds. I've also added a few more steps to build process (like preemptively replacing all sram with brand new chips and adding a few more games to the test suite including the neosd) that lengthen the time to shipment but hopefully give the motherboard some extra longevity.

You get what you pay for. Usually quality takes a bit more time. However you're gonna be happier in the long run when your stuff is still working years later.

Hey man, it's all good. I was really just concerned at the lack of info or communication. I didn't want the order to be sitting in limbo when a "Everything going ok?" might be the only thing holding it back. I'm very happy everything worked out.
That Unibios 4.0 and VMC have me very eager to play asap.
Cheers and continued success.
