I had asked the guy who heads the "College democrats" at my school if I had to be a registered Dem to join, and since that the answer was no I joined in. I can't say I was interested in the college republicans much (Even though I am a registered Rep), most of them seemed to lack the skills in forming good arguments etc during certain debates. And to be totally objective, the other group was not much better to me... BUT I rather hear and talk with people that most likely have opposite views to mine, so I figured it won't be like talking to a mirror image.

Never saw any cute girls though, damn shame... :kekeke:
But I am sure to learn something from a die hard liberal (even if they are dead wrong on some things IMHO).

How come you never hear of a "College Anarchists" group?

It's a valid political theory.

I think it depends on your chapter. Both chapters here (dem and reps) are pretty weak. I was with the College Dems for awhile, but work, class, and other things just go in the way.

Plus i'm not into politics like that, i'm not a political gladiator trying to spread the democratic partys message, especially when i'm not 100% in line with the party view.

As an organization, the Republicans have their shit together, why else would they win so many elections and control so much of the government?

From my experience at Towson University, the college republicans seem to be more organized and focus on a few issues. However, down the street at Goucher College, the opposite is the case. It's probably a chapter to chapter thing.

Here's my clinical observation on Campus Republicans:

At the universities I've been at, the College Republicans are always more organized and larger than other political organizations (and most non-politicial organizations). I assume this is because the conservatives (particularly politicized conservatives) were far fewer and far between and thus they would search out the best organization to represent their minority, thus they would congregrate with the College Republicans since it's a fairly solid umbrella organization for their views with decent party support (hey, it's the party with money to spend on stuff like this). To emphasize, I think this strength has a lot to do with their minority status on major campuses: whenever there's a minority that feels marginalized, they often tend to form organizations to lobby/represent them and build/maintain identity. Yes, there's a, somewhat ironic, comparison to be drawn to the College Republicans in college and the NAACP in the real world.

However, I don't think would operate universally, but at larger campuses (I've been at schools with 28k and 51k), where the total number reaches some critical mass, it works out this way.

I think you'll find most college students to be more liberal than those who have graduated and live in 'the real world'.

Maybe that just been my experience, but I think most university/college students tend towards the left.

When I think of college anything I think of people who have never had a real job.

So many are whiny kids who want me (working citizen) to pay for their stupid ideas/programs.

I like both the college dems and republicans, except for those wackos on either extreme.

Here's a really funny thing I have noticed since I have entered the working world. Some asshole who sits behind a desk at a computer all day and works 9-5 hours with a lunch thinks that he knows a lot about hard work, when in reality they haven't worked hard a day in their life.

YEah....

I hear ya on the work issue. I was washing dishes, cleaning Toilets and doing Agricultural work at the age of 16.

I think students tend to be a Tad Idealistic.

The Leftists tend to be a bit on the Irrational side..... And they tend to be more vocal.

The Rightists (College Republicans) tend to give off an apearance of Rationality with thier $10 haircuts, Straight edge ties and misleading ideas. But thier IDeas are just as crazy. They want to turn back shit to the 1920's and get rid of the social programs that saved america from communism.

All In all, I still would say that the college population in this country is slightly to the right (but left of American "Core" values and IDeas).... Most students just arn't very vocal.

P.S.
Don't get me started on the Zionist Groups

Hahah I remember when I defended welfare in a Republican debate.

You would think I blasphemed the Holy Spirit by the reaction I got. :kekeke:

It's easy..

Just slip the word "Corporate" before the word Wellfare they will cheer, pick you up and carry you out of the room like you just scored the winning touchdown.

Seriously,
But you obviously see that the people you were talking to were not in touch with reality.

I think college students today are very polarized in their politics. Most use their feelings rather than facts to debate issues.

For instance, in a discussion of socialized health care with someone college age, he brought up the point that we aren't communists, and that socialized health care is a communist system and that's why we shouldn't do it. Well fine if you don't like the idea of socialized health care, but saying you don't like it specifically because it's a socialist idea is foolish. I find that you actually have to use facts and ideas to back up your points rather than rash emotional beliefs.
