Have any of you ever tore a ligament? If so, let me know how it came out.

At this point, I'm pretty sure I tore a ligament in my R tricep ligament. I was lifting weights back early Nov when I noticed that the area around the base of my elbow was really sore. I figured it might just be overuse, so I iced it, then heat and gave it rest. As the days went on, the pain grew more and more severe. At this point, the pain is terrible. I can use my R hand and all, but nearly any weight is unbearably painful to lift with that arm and certain manipulations of my R fingers produce an extremely painful stabbing pain right behind my elbow.

With it only getting worse, I'm off to see a Dr today about it, I'm sure I"ll be referred to a specialist and take it form there.

I'm obviously no Dr...but my symptoms point to a torn ligament. I'm curious if anyone else here has gone through such a thing.

Yeah. Don't waste money going to a doc. This happened in Nov? Should be healed by April.

You know...if it was a muscle thing I'd be inclined to agree. I jacked up an arm in March doing a certain lift and it took a solid 6 months to heal. This one is way different. It' super specific in an area no larger than 1" and good god, does it hurt. By "lifting weight" I'm talking about any weight much over a 1/2 lb or so.

I'm not one to go to the Dr...and I despise having to pay for it (which I will, that's for sure), but this one seems like it may be worth it.

I tore ligaments in my left hand when I was 13 and it didn’t heal properly because I didn’t have any PT or a real plan to help it heal correctly. I think right now there’s scar tissue or something fused wrong, and correcting it seems unnecessary. I just live with it and no one seems to ever notice.

If you’re having pain, you should get it fixed. It won’t fix itself.

90% of the time with doctors, they will tell you there’s no cure or fix and you can live with whatever problem if you just exercise and diet properly. The huge bill comes regardless of if they’re lazy or if you force them to put on their problem solving pants and stop fucking you around. Don’t accept anything less than complete restoration. Let insurance pay for it.

Do a quick search on the stretches to do to check for tendonitis. Extremely common in weight lifting and can be agony, plus with the above stretches you can pinpoint it at home with a high degree of certainty.

Any ligament injury should require a doctor visit. Either they don't heal right or at all without proper treatment.

I tore the ligaments in my C2 and C4 and was in pain for years. Took a lot of physical therapy to get me back to "normal". Can't do any heavy weightlifting any more sadly.

Went to the general Dr...that was a quick 20 min/$100. Now I'm to see a specialist when they can fit me in. We'll see if I'm correct or not about what the issue is.
