I sold that sucker recently for a pretty good amount of money. I figured it was just sitting there boxed up in my closet doing nothing. I looked at the release list for next year or so and there was nothing good coming out for it, except for maybe Punch Out. Tatsunoko vs Capcom would have been good, but that's probably not going to see the light of day here.

In all honesty, I think it's one of the most disappointing systems that I've ever owned. Just like with the N64, I bought it for Mario and was hoping something else would come out for it. Well at least there were a few more games that were decent on the N64 at this point in its life cycle. Seriously, I don't understand the huge overall public appeal for this system. I mean they talk about casual gaming been all the rage right now, but other than Wii Sports, Boom Blox, and maybe a couple of other games, I don't really see too many quality casual games out there. Maybe all those people just getting into gaming are going through the same thing all of us have already gone through, where we buy a game without doing our homework only to realize it flatout sucks.

So I was wondering what some other people were planning to do with their Wii since this could be one of the last times you could sell your system for about the same price you bought it for. So sell or keep?

I sold mine within 6-9 months of release.

I guess I have less patience than most. I apparently missed out on the cream of the crop games, Galaxy, Kart, Smash Brothers, etc. I don't think I've ever regretted selling it either.

I was beyond disappointed with the Wii...it had quite a bit of promise to be a "fun" console with simple games and motion control....

...what it became was a half-ass next-gen console with shitty games/bad ports, nothing on the horizon and the motion control being used improperly...

The ONLY reason I held on to it as long as I did was dues to the VC titles...after close to a year of nothing but shit titles being released for it, I sold it while the gettin' was good.

Goodbye to that pile of shit...

i never owned a wii, but i will say this.

I was a big enough nintendophile to buy every nintendo console on or near release date...and that includes most iterations of the gameboy and the even the virtual boy (:lolz:)

but even i was reluctant to get a wii initially and still don't feel compelled to yet...i dont foresee getting one anytime soon either

I haven't touched mine in probably 4 months or more.

Debating selling it, but I just have this nagging feeling that I'd regret it when Sin and Punishment 2 comes out, or Mad World or No More Heroes 2 or whatever.

Not that I expect to actually love any of those games all that much, I suppose.

Aw, hell.

Still the console of choice for SNK compilations....

And I don't foresee other classic compilations coming out on the other current gen systems.

Also good for playing gamecube games in 480P....

After I get through playing Mario Galaxy on a Wii I've borrowed from Kit, I'm not touching the system until it drops below $100 or lower for a used unit. And even then, I'm only getting it if SMG is as godly as it's made out to be and/or if my PCE craps out and I need an easy to play version of Gate/Lords of Thunder on the VC.

Sincerely,

Mikhail

Got one in May and sold it last week. I think I may have played it a grand total of 24 hours in that span (House of the Dead 2 & 3 and RE:UC mostly).

So much potential. So much fail. All in one small box.

My girlfriend owns one and neither of us really ever touches it. I've used it for Brawl and No More Heroes. Maybe a few VC games here and there. I think Super Mario RPG, Metal Slug and Gley Lancer are the only games I have downloaded.

I'm interested in Mad World and NMH2 but other than that I can't see myself playing it much. Maybe when SMG goes down to 20 or 30 bucks.

I still play the Wii but 08 was a pretty weak year for it and it may have been the worst holiday release (games) for any system that I can remember.

09 actually looks to be a pretty good year for the Wii. There are actually more Wii games that I am looking forward to than there are on the PS3/360.

Here are some of the Wii games I am looking forward to:

Mad World
Tenchu Shadow Assassin
House of the Dead Overkill
Final Fantasy CC: Echoes of Time
Little King Story
Muramasa: The Demon Blade

Others that may or may not make it out...
Klonoa Remake (Out in Japan)
Fatal Frame 4 (Out in Japan)
No More Heroes 2...but that may be in 2010

Also...looking forward to playing Dead Rising again since it looks like they fixed a few of the issues I had with the 360 version. Oh...and Pikmin and Mario Tennis remakes.

I think NMH2 is confirmed for a '10 release, but I could be mistaken. I think that games pretty much a shoe in to be good if its anything like the first. I know a lot of people hated it but I played through it three times and if I hadn't loaned it out I probably would be playing it again right now. I would like to the overworld actually have stuff to do. Hell even GTA3 had more shit to do in the overworld. Of course you could say its Suda51's commentary on sandbox games in general, but its still pretty bland. More varied finishers and wrestling moves would be nice too.

Whats up with Fatal Frame 4 by the way, I never really played any of the others but Suda51 also worked on it to some degree so I'd like to check it out. But I haven't heard anything about a U.S. release and the game has been out for a good 6 months in Japan.

Keeping it..I have no reason to sell it.....

The price I paid for it isn't going to be more worthwhile in my pocket..

I didn't buy it with much expectation to be my system of choice,..360 and PS3 get the most play by me....,,It was bought as a novelty,a secondary.third system to fool around with whenever..To have fun with my kids and relatives.
My Son has fun with it and.we play it weekly playing mostly the Bowling games...

I like having it so when I want to play it,it's there...It's not like I play my arcade machines every day or my AES..

Family and Relatives still want to play it...They want to play it upon coming in the door passing right my my Arcade machines.

Can we play the Wii..........

..
I will say that if I had to sell one of the three systems,it would be the first to go...:D

I play the Wii almost entirely for the old games. I still play mine for Wii games now and then, but barely. So sad.

Yes, I think No More Heroes 2 is 2010. I think I played through No More Heroes six times and still pick it up from time to time. NMH certainly had flaws but it is the most fun I have ever had playing a game.

I am starting to wonder if Fatal Frame 4 is coming out in the USA but I hope that it does. Regardless, there are some quality games coming to the Wii in 09, so if you toughed it out through 08, you may want to hold on to it. (Not to mention there are some really great Wiiware games out there)

I owned a Wii very briefly too. I bought one on a whim early last year, but much to my surprise, I found I absolutely hated the montion controls. My first game was Metroid Prime 3, and though I loved the first two, I became bored and frustrated with that one after about ten minutes. So I actually packaged it back up and took it back to the store (which was probably stupid... I bet I could have got more than retail for it on eBay, but whatever).

That said, I actually kind of want to buy another one. But pretty much just for the virtual console, really. There are only 3 disc based games I have any interest in for the system: Mario, Wii Fit, and No More Heroes. If I do wind up getting one, I'll probably only wind up getting a half dozen or so disc based games. I would like to get a lot of the VC games though, some of 'em are fantastic.

Still, I'd probably go on using my 360 the most while the Wii collects dust after I'm done with whatever VC game I'm obsessed with at the time.

thats just for homebrew though, isn't it? Id rather do that if it let you play burned games. The only game I'm even remotely considering keeping the wii for is punch out. The rest is total garbage aside from some of the games that were already mentioned. Almost nothing on the wii is worth buying. I'm probably going to sell mine eventually.

When I sold mine, I was considering Wii HD will come out 2011. So if I sold mine now, assuming the new Wii will be BC, I could buy the few at most games that come out in that time and get the Wii HD for rougly the same price I sold my system for. I figured I'm not going to let roughly $300 just sit there. Or I could just wait until the flood of people that are going to eventually dump their Wii systems when the new one comes out and get it for about $50-60 used. Unless 2010 and part of 2011 are amazing years, I don't think I'll regret my decision a bit.

I don't want to derail this thread, but could somebody put into layman's terms how to do this, and what I can do after I accomplish this kthx?

For odd reason I play less and less video game nowadays, even though I keep buying them.

For Wii, I like it more than Gamecube and N64. Don't ask me why but I love it

I don't understand the VC thing.

Why pay for roms when you could:

A) own the real system + game for cheap
B) Just be a pirate and play the rom for free on an emulator

I choose option A, myself. Using the original system the game was intended for is part of the experience.

Most of the games I'm looking at cost more in cart form than they do in the VC. One of the first games I'd get would be Gunstar Heroes... I think it'd cost a lot more than eight bucks, after shipping.

Besides, I don't have a Genesis, so I'd have to buy that too. And I don't have a (working) NES anymore, nor do I have a Master System (also broken ), or a Turbo Grafx 16. So add up the cost of all those and tack it right on to whatever the carts I want cost.

Second, it's very convenient to just have a bunch of classic games DL'd to one console. Better yet, the classic controller is wireless, so there's less clutter in my TV room.

Finally, the quality of emulation is much better than illegal PC stuff. To me, that's worth paying for. (Fuck, I don't have a PC anyway, I use a Mac. Good luck finding a good emulator for that...)
