I will just watch whatever marathon AMC has on; Halloween, Friday the 13th...

I used to really enjoy horror movies when I was younger, but nothing has really caught my attention in a while.

I understand the lack of enthusiasm for modern horror movies, but there's nothing wrong with the classic series: Halloween, Friday the 13th, Nightmare on Elm Street, etc.

They're always fun to marathon watch around Halloween. It looks like AMC's FearFest starts this Friday, which is a full day of Stephen King's "lesser adaptations".

I just watched Annabelle. I really enjoyed the Conjuring, so I was hoping to enjoy this, but it was meh IMO. That demon thing reminded me of Insidious, which I also thought was meh. Insidious 2 I thought was better.

I honestly enjoyed the story of Annabelle from the Warrens website than the movie itself.

Those who said Dead Alive, make sure you've seen it in its uncut state as Peter Jackson's Braindead. Dead Alive had a lot of the grue removed.

Here's my list

The Never Dead
Zombie Fleah Eaters
The Beyond
Last House on Dead End Street
Henry: Portrait of a Serial Killer
The Gates of Hell
The Exorcist
The Omen
Kill List
Creepshow 1 & 2
Dawn of the Dead (Romero)
Halloween
Sinister
Amittyville Horror (original)
A Texas Chainsaw Massacre (original)

There's plenty more I'd like to get through. I have a real fondness of A Nightmare on Elm Street series too. Especially the first three films, they fucking rock!

I've only ever seen the Unrated Cut of Dead Alive (97 min.), which was released in the US and several other countries. I see there's a few extra short scenes in the 104-minute international cut of Braindead, including some extra gore. Is it really worth it?

I guess I may have to track down a copy of it. It looks like all of the versions currently on Blu-ray are the 97-minute version, though.

From Beyond is a headfuck as well. It's got Jeffery Combs in it. Some real nice practical effects.

Agreed. I just saw it for the first time last month. I love body horror (Society, Videodrome, The Fly, Slither, etc.), and From Beyond delivered great special effects and just a cool premise, in general.

From Beyond is awesome!

Might as well add Stuart Gordon's Re-Animator to the list as well.

Regarding the US cut of Dead Alive compared to the full cut of Braindead. I can't compare as I've only seen the complete version. It was released in Australia completely uncut and I was lucky to see it on VHS when it came out way back when.

Thanks brotha! I usually don't care for zombie movies, but man, this one blew me away with its absurdity. Another guilty pleasure is Night of the Creeps.
"It's Miller Time!"

Finally got to see Night of the Creeps....f-ing excellent movie. The slugs were done very well and the heads exploding with em were great.

The Rocky Horror Picture Show

Not really a horror film, but it's a tradition nonetheless.

This evening I'm doing a two part of the amazing "Horns" that my gf has not yet seen to be followed by the modern classic "Slither" which is just about the perfect horror-comedy.

Thank god for the DVD. I used to rent it every October and then for some reason the video store we went to stopped carrying it.

HENRY! Oh man, that's a grim movie. Another thing - what's your thoughts regarding any sort of narrative in Kill List?

Don Coscarelli's Phantasm II ...Now I have to watch Phantasm III...

I really like Phantasm II, even a bit more than I like the original movie. Tell us what you think of Phantasm III, dspoonrt?

My take on III is that they allowed a bit too much silliness into it. IV had an even smaller budget than III but Delivers more on the mythology of the series, which is good.
