The Wire is the shit.

I'm working my way through Season 3 right now. I loved season 1 and season 3 is off to a fantastic start.

I will have to check out Breaking Bad.

I'm waiting for Mad Men to hit Netflix instant view (hopefully).

Stick with The Wire, seriously. It gets silly later on but the first few seasons are gold.

I may give the wire another try. It was like 5 or 6 years ago that I tried it.

Mother fucker, I just finished the second to the last episode in Season 3. This is probably the most incredible tv show I've ever watched. I don't think I've ever said "what the fuck" more times during a tv show than I have with Breaking Bad. I was going to watch the last episode tomorrow but there's no way I can sleep after watching what I just watched.

Omar is the coolest fictional character I've seen in ages.
Spoiler:
The way they killed him off so abruptly was kind of a lost opportunity IMO. I totally get what they were trying to say about guns, the great equaliser and all that, but even so. Killed by a kid. Could've been a bit more exciting.

Awesome! Season 3 was pretty great. Season 4, imo, is god tier. I seriously wish I can remove the show from my memory and rewatch S4 fresh again.

My friend told me "Season 3 of the wire was the best thing i'd ever seen on television...until I watched season 4".

The first two were my favourite. With 3 you've got the whole "Hamsterdam" thing, which I thought was getting over the top, and the way it was supposed to be super secret pushes believability for me (though I did find out recently that the essential idea was actually tried in Zurich in real life, which is fucked up.). Also the posh black gangster with the dicky bow and a manservant, he's kind of bizarre. It's great that they try out unconventional characters, and I'm not saying all gangster characters need to be gangsta, but he didn't really fit into the series for me.

That was some intense shit right there. So many subtle things happened during that scene:
When Victor's neck was slashed, Mike pointed his gun at Gus.
When Gus was staring down both Jesse and Walt, Walt was visibly scared. Jesse on the other hand, had this intense look (the shock of killing Gale apparently wore off).
It was right after that Jesse finally started talking.

This is pure skepticism btw, but imo,
Spoiler:
it looks like Gus and Jesse will become buds. During the scene at Denny's Walt was still worried. Jesse said it took Gus years to find Gale, "Where is he going to find another chemist?". Walt then gave Jesse a quick glance. I then remembered in season 3 when Walt told Jesse his meth was as good as his. Something tells me there is going to be some trust issues in later episodes.

I'm going to rewatch that episode again right now. :buttrock:

I was leaning to what you wrote but you gave more details and insight than I had. It's very plausible and would be the most likely direction for the show in order to set up the next season.

I watched it twice. I disagree with Caster's spoiler, though. I lean more toward the direction that Jesse will be killed at some point to prove a point to Walter that he isn't calling the shots.

That would jump the shark and end the series.

I get a great sense of helplessness from this show. Jessie has sunk so low that he appears not to give a shit anymore. People are braver when they have nothing to lose.

Five seasons is going to be perfect to cover the entire arc of the story. I'll be excited to see what Vince can do next.

I think Jesse will survive the show and Walt will die somehow.

Walt is so fubar.
