It would be great if somehow they got off their asses and made something worthwhile, but the odds are seriously stacked. My quarter says were gonna get nailed with shitty art, bad BG's and tunes again. I mean, yeah, we haven't seen it yet, but the last two chapters have been some of the worst in the series, so what is there to be excited about?
If KOF2K2 comes out good, that will be a nice pleasant surprise. Right now, my hopes are pinned on the SNK/Capcom veterans who are working on SvC. I think this game will end up either sparking new interest in the MVS/HC system or finally nailing the coffin shut.

Allow me to say again, I loved KOF2000. I hate when people say that it wasn't good. I didn't like 99, but 2000 was and is great. There.

Yeah KOF 2000 is what 99 should have been.2000 does not have lags in the moves and DMs unlike 99.

every single one.
since 94, they been there.
ever wonder why in 94-98 they stand in the background?
when you get dizzy you can call then out to help.
it just changed to the active striker system in 99 when you could call em out at will.
i dont think kof2k2 will be shit.
i mean, look at metal slug 4. the backgrounds are awesome (wayy better than 3. wayyyy better) and the music is insane.
since all the little companies a surrounding playmore are basically all the same thing, its an indication that kof2k2 will have good backgrounds and good music.

The KOF series has always been the bastard child of SNK. They should have killed it off awhile ago. But for some unfathomable reason, people continue to piss away their money on this waste of electricity.
Enough with this washed up series! It's high time someone perpetuated the only real fighting series on the Neo, Samurai Spirits. I want SS5!

I'm with Fran on this one. Every KOF has been a bit dissappointing to me since 98 in terms of graphics. If they would just please give Mai a new standing animation, I mean she had a different one for the first 3 KOF's, why cant she get a new one, or terry for that matter? New animation sets would be so nice, or redrawn sprites for all the characters. I love 2001 gameplay, and I hope 2002 will be better, but please please update the characters. Though, come to think of it, 99 had roughly 35 characters, and 98 had even more (with more animation for the extra versions) and it pulled off great music and beautifly drawn and colored backgrounds along with great animation for most characters. Well, lets hope for quality over quantity. Dont know, 2002 will be interesting to see what they changed and left the same. I'll buy it reguardless

and its not easy,no way
but man,100 % combos shouldnt exist in kof
played the game for like 2 hours,
then back to 98 for the rest of the night

I have always deeply loathed the whole damn KOF series! There isn't a rational explanation behind my contempt for the KOF. My hatred for this series is very akin to seeing someone you've never met before but disliking them anyway.
Whenever I hear about the KOF or see someone playing one of the games in an arcade, I just want to start breaking stuff. Damn the whole series to hell!

Yay, new KOF!
See I was playing some KOF2k1 at Otakon, and yeah, I got my ass kicked but it was really a lot of fun.
My Bday is coming up and KOF2k1 MVS is finnally coming down in price. I think it may be time to ditch the ROM and give in to the MVS call. Besides I got one more Shock Box left and I'm back at my old job so I have access to that Color Laser printer, so I think it's off to the insert drawing boards for my new MVS cart! <img src="graemlins/drool.gif" border="0" alt="[Drool]" />
Quite honestly though I really do wish that they'd dump some of the cast and REDRAW some damn sprites.

Honestly I could care less about the GFX because well if I really cared then I wouldn't own a Neo setup. But here's the problem: No one wants to play KOF anymore! That's why I HAD to like Capcom vs. SNK 2(not that I don't think it's a good game), because it's really the only Serious 2D Fighter I can get people to play a lot in the very small amount of time I can dedicate to playing 2D fighters (I'm in my senior year of college and I'm working 20+ hours/week so I can kinda make my job a shitload better when I graduate).
Anyway, after this weekend I can see that despite it's missing animations (fuck the BG's, I don't care about them, don't know why you ppl do), KOF2k1 is just a FUN friggin game! Why else would I, the "cheap ass ROM whore" go buy the cart?

if i was in charge id keep only about 15 old faces and start introducing some real good new fighters,
not useless ugly people like maxima,bao,hinako,ramon and so on
i dont play kof to have 70 fighters

kof 95 had like 27 fighters and it still is a damn masterpiece

the people i know want to play kof,real bout or motw all the time
they dont hate virtua 4 or ggx
and they ALL own dc,ps2,x box and all that stuff
but we always play with the neo

For me the KOF series needs something big to happen. For starters
1: Redraw the characters!!! this is always a major issue with SNK and Capcom!!
2: Bring Back Stage Intro's and characters standing in the background
3: Strikers need to go or the idea needs to be rethought
4: Snk classic characters need to be bought back like geese, duck, eiji and we need world heroes chracters we need chracters like Rick Strowd and more people from AOF and other Series!!
5: Existing characters as well as being redrawn need new fresh DM's and Specials if not new twists on the existing moves!! lets face it Terry needs new moves, every KOF i know i can play as terry because hes been the same for the last 5 episodes!!!
6: Exciting new characters like when we first saw Iori, Yashiro, Leona and K'!!
7: Dump all the characters that have been there far too long and are'nt popular like Chin, Bao, Chang, Choi etc
8: Back grounds that offer more that just people looking on and waving!!
Just my Idea's because IMO KOF2K1 was waaaaaay to stale.
Bottom liine KOF needs a complete overhaul and they CAN do it on the MVS they have just got to try!!!

yep, they need to axe a lot of the characters.'96 had the perfect roster.
i want to see proper fighters, not bao , choi and all those other little freaks and shitty nests characters.
a true SNK old school roster. Lots Of Real Bout characters (hon fu, bob,rick,e.t.c), old AOF characters(lee pai long,jack turner,eiji,mickey e.t.c).
New sprites. im not fussed about a new engine, i just want something that looks fresh in my eyes.

I despise World Heroes as well! WH will always be a miserably failed clone of Street Fighter 2. Every time I think of WH, the image of a jackal comes into my mind. Street Fighter 2 hit big at the arcades. Along comes WH like some fucking scavenger that smells some good pussy and wants a piece. The whole damn mess that some people refer to as the WH series, is without a doubt, the ultimate representation of the video game bottom feeder!
Speaking of pussy, the whole Neo scene right now reminds me of bad pussy. What makes it worse is that we Neo gamers haven't been "laid" in such a long time that we sit back and accept it. It has been awhile since any really good titles have come out for the Neo. We, as Neo gamers, are getting so desperate to continue this 12 year party that we'll take anything that people shove down our throats. People have even begun to brainwash themselves into thinking these new titles can hold a candle to the older ones.
If MS4, KOF 2000-2001 had come out back in 1996 I guaran-fucking-tee that no one would have bought these games. The fact is that we are getting so desperate for new titles that we have lowered our standards. It's just like at the end of a party when your really trying to score some snatch, you'll take just about anything with tits and vagina. Neo gamers are no longer consumers, we have become slaves and addicts to a hobby that has developed into an ever dominating lifestyle.
Hell, I bought MS4. I've even justified the purchase by hypnotising myself into liking the turd. Rage of the Dragons will be my next purchase, I still can't explain why.
