I never did. I think I'll send some money over there and see what happens.

Haha yeah that's it. Seriouly wouldn't surprise me if they still get the odd random trying to redeem the offer.

As far as fighting games went, I was purely a Street Fighter fan for my entire youth. The only fighting game at my local arcade spot as a kid was a Street Fighter II cab. I played some MK at a friend's house on the SNES, and even borrowed it for a while, but never got into the art style. Reading this thread makes me think I really missed out by not playing part II. I mean it was obviously ahead of its time, seeing as it had a collector's edition comic book and compact disc, exactly the the type of thing every big game has now.

for me, earliest memory was playing it on the genesis back in 98 I believe. such a great game it was. then I got it on the super nintendo in 01. I actually picked up a fan hacked version of the game called mk2 unlimited which is a bog improvement over the original game.

what they added
you can now play as the bosses as well as the 3 secret characters:jade, smoke and noob saibot
they added all the stages from mk1 in the game except the courtyard, but they included the botton of the pit with all the spikes
they added endurance and practice mode as well as being able to run and perform combos like in mk3
they brought back some character and announcer sound effects that were missing in the original game.

overall, a great game and a big improvement. basically the dlc version of mk2

MK2 was a big part of my youth, from a gameplay perspective SF2 is way ahead of it but i actually like the story and theme of MK2 better. It's not a bad thing.

I had both, someone stole them. Thankfully, even back then I scanned and ripped both.

I was in high school back in 94. I remember almost trading my AES system & games with a local game shop owner for this MKII machine(ended up not doing it). I did get the game for the Genesis, SNES and eventually the PC version.
