Went to the specialty butcher for beef tongue and then to the Mexican market (which is decent but not like I'm used to in the South, this one doesn't even sell Virgin Mary candles or pinatas) because we have been fucking bored and I wanted to make a full on meal.
Tacos de lengua
Braised the tongue for a long while, cubed, and sauteed. Served on double corn tortillas (made by the market), salsa verde, cilantro, white onion, limes, queso fresco.
Made chips from the above mentioned tortillas to go with the market's tubs of hatch chile guacamole and queso dips.
Sides of refried beans and rice.
Drinks, Mexican cokes, Pacifico with lime, or blended margs.
So full, so much food. Spent a little over $100 including the alcohol but I probably have at least 4 more servings of meat for leftovers.
First time doing tongue and it was super easy, tasted great.
