...that you would pay money even for an UNFINISHED version?

Space War 2000 was one of the games that were announced for the Atari Jaguar in 94-with nice pix in the gaming press...and then simply vanished!A little company now made an unfinished proto-cart available! Some options are missing, but you can play it-and i am having lots of fun with it!

Now the Jag clearly is the King in getting 'lost' games back-but when i looked through my old magazines i realized many lost titles for all the systems!

Most of us know about the NEO-Protos...and i really hope that DREAMCAST will get some of it's cancelled games one day, too!!

Well, here is a little list of titles that were announced and 'lost',and i'd love to get them if they were at least as far finished as Space War:

GENESIS:

NITRO WRECKS(Racer with digi-graphics by Scavenger)
WING COMMANDER 2(By Origin/Was supposed to have an DSP-chip in the cart-probable for sprite-scaling)
BEYOND ZERO TOLERANCE
CYBERNAUTS-THE NEW BREED(Both from Accolade-the 2nd one was supposed to be a fighting game with great-looking rendered characters)

SNES:

STARFOX 2(nothing against the N64-Version-but the pix of it's FX-powered 'forerunner' were looking good, too! With 2-player mode!)
FX-FIGHTER(Polygon brawler)
COMANCHE(Another lost FX-game-a pc helicopter flight sim on the SNES??Slow as it may have been-I'd still love to see it.. )
FIRETEAM ROUGE(Had some great artwork-cancelled together with the genesis version)

3DO:

WING COMMANDER 4(Surely would have been better than the lousy PS-version!)
PROWLER(Robot action-pix were looking better than Mechwarrior 2...)

SATURN:

SONIC EXTREME
NINJA(Finished-but no release! )
DESCENT(Lobotomy could have done it..!)
RAIDEN FIGHTERS(Announced for nearly half a year..)
SYNDICATE WARS(EA really took their time before deciding to skip it!)

PS:

THRILL KILL(At least we got THAT one.. )
GENDER WARS(Strategy game about a battle between the sexes...huh?)
DAWN OF DARKNESS(Great looking pix of an ego-shooter-only mentioned ONCE in a mag)

SEGA CD:

BATTLETECH-GRAY DEATH LEGION(Looked like Battlecorps)
RAPID DEPLOYMENT FORCE(Looked like a mode 7-Shellshock)

JAGUAR CD:

FREELANCER 2120
SOULSTAR X(cancelled near finished together with the 32X-version)

DREAMCAST:

Simply too many to mention, but my fav's would have been HALFE-LIFE!(Suprise),CASTELVANIA and HEAVY METAL:F.A.K.K.2(Maybe the magazine confused this title with another game, but boy,i'd REALLY wanted that one!!)

How about you guys?Any 'Lost Treasures',too?

Edit: I forgot REV LIMIT for the N64!!(Now what happened to THAT one??)

hm...

Arcade:

Primal Rage 2
Beavis & Butthead
Marble Madness 2
Vicious Circle
Metal Manix

I was lucky enought to buy four prototypes.
Two of which are great.

7-Up Spot... not bad same as the console game.

Tenth Degree... 3dfx based Atari Anime Fighter. It's Street Fighter + Tekken + Virtua Fighter mixed in with a lot speedy combos. The seven button control panel is a little daunting though. That's what you get for hiring an ex-sf2 developer as the project lead.

Didn't Rev Limit come out in Japan? I remember seeing it for sale in the back of a Gamefan magazine at Game Cave now known as GExpress.

I gotta go with Mooky there. That was a major disappointment.

Castlevania for DC would have been nice, even if it was 3D.

The most wanted unrelease game for me is probably... World Heroes Pocket.

It intrigued me as it was planned to be release in 1999 and in the back of EGM ads for couple months. I saw it and got my hopes up. For a franchise that hasn't seen the light of day since 1995-- WH Pocket can only be a positive thing for fans.

Got axed.

We will never know what could and what would have happened...

Another time there was this prototype game called "World Heroes Versus"... whatever that means...

... Still hoping for World Heroes 3.

Crystalis 2. There were a few rumors about it a while back, but if it was being made, it was canned early in development. Maybe not even a proto. Anyone have any info?

I'm sure you know this, but there is a translation floating around on the Internet. I want to get a ROM burner so I can play it on my NES .

I don't know if it exactly counts because it was only released in japan, but it was very limited, but...

Warzard - Who WOULDN'T want to play a fighting game where you get to use a Lion-man?? That game looked neat

Also, Super Mario RPG2. Yeah, I know they did the whole Paper Mario thing...but come on! I want the sequel to LOOK like the original...

And the aforementioned Star Fox 2 for Snes.

....

There is only one game that I would PAY for an unifinished version of. There is only one game that I wanted so much that I shelled out $200 for the system it was to be released on shortly after launch but never was. There is only one game that I would without question call...

"THE BIGGEST LIE IN VIDEOGAME HISTORY"!

And that game is Earthbound 64.

When everyone was hyping the release on N64 and all these gaming mags were doing game previews and companies were releasing these Unofficial N64 Buyers Guides, Earthbound 64 was all over the place.

I myself, had bought an Unofficial N64 Buyers Guide a few days before I got my N64 system a few days after launch (October of 96, I believe). In the guide there is a preview of EarthBound 64 with a release date of November 96. I was so excited because I loved the SNES game so I quickly went out and got my N64 and Super Mario 64 to hold me over for a month until Earthbound 64 would be released.

Months passed and then years passed with no release of the game in either Japan or the US. And then sometime last year they officially cancelled the game. I want to know how a game could have a release set for next month only to be delayed for 5 years.

And it's not like that one Unofficial Guide was the only thing that had a release date set for that game for November. Lots of gaming mags did. For the love of god, what HAPPENED to Mother 3?!

You guys HAD to remind me about Earthbound/Mother 3 :-(. I hate you guys.
But let's not forget what could have been the greatest game of all time...

Socks The Cat Rocks The Hill(SNES/GEN)

I still look for a beta ROM to this day...the possibilities for that game...just, endless! :-(.

Oh, and let's not forget Magician Lord for NGPC...*cries*.

Later,
