If you need to buy something I'd just get a USBC 3.whatever flash drive. I just used mini SD cards since that's what I had laying around, but the cheap Samsung cards weren't fast enough. If you used a mini SD a name brand A1 or faster card would be fine.

finally ordered a 1TB drive for my deck. Should arrive by next weekend for me to sit down and take apart the deck and install it.

Successfully got the 1TB drive installed.

The hardware part was easy, only had some trouble with software/reimaging but ultimately got it.

Unfortunately seems like my bumper are still broken. I can get the right bumper to register a press if I press really hard on a certain part of it.

Guess I’ll have to take it back apart.

Well it’s looks like I’m going to have to get Valve to repair the L/R bumpers on my deck.

The LB micro switch has torn off from the daughter board PCB.

I didn’t even bother to see what’s up with RB, I’m assuming the switch is damaged as well.

It looks like a pretty poor design, there is not much supporting the switch itself.

Here you can see the post that presses down on the switch and the switch itself but…

The soldered tabs of the switch have been sheared off.

There is a bracket that goes on top of the switch that supports the bottom of the switch but apparently not well enough. Forgot to get a picture of this.

Anyway i swapped back in my 256gb drive and am contacting support now lol.

iFixit does not have the parts to fix this, just the plastic bumper buttons that actuate the switch.

lol goobdeck I guess?

Talking to steam support is all canned responses and like talking to chat GPT lol.

Finally got them to confirm my deck needs repair.

Estimated cost $125-185 (though could be more depending) which sucks.

I wish ifixit had the daughterboards to replace the whole assembly.

If the cost is more than $185 maybe I’ll buy one of the closeout LCD models to have a parts deck.

Estimate to repair my deck: $95. Looks like they’re just replacing parts.

Sucks IFixIt didn’t have those parts available as I probably would’ve saved a decent bit of cash. Oh well.

Deck arriving back tomorrow from repair. So about 4 weeks out of my hands altogether, not too bad.

I shall be testing the Metal Slug Tactics demo post haste.
