I don't know if there are any differences between ports, so we can go with a single scoreboard (till someone more knowledgeable says otherwise).

Chosen One - 4,620,240 - Stage 5-8 - STV

I’ve always liked this game and I’ve never got the clear even though I have made it to the final boss a couple times.

I always use the blue lightning weapon, it’s just easier to dodge stuff knowing that you don’t have to aim. There are a few spots where I feel like you just need a few bombs to get past, in particular the place I died on this run. If you get a good run without dying you’ll have plenty of bombs as the games not shy about handing them out.

I also like that unlike other games (looking at you Truxton) max speed isn’t retarded so you can get a bunch of points, 5k each, for each additional power up.

I found an old label list. For any SOTM players:Shinryu is game number 32.
Put one black jumper cap, on the most far right pins.

Never participated in SOTM before, but with my busy season of work winding down I thought I'd give it a try

If you're going to mention that sweet cabinet you're playing on, let's see a picture of it. I love those Sega Swing's!

Do me a favor for your next score and format your entry like the list in the first post. It makes it easier for me to just copy and paste the info quickly.

No improvement in score over lunch:
Here are the pics as promised.

She has a ton of patina...TheGameroom Ken bait and switched me, so I got this jank looking girl, instead of the pretty one listed on his site.

No marquee, no header livery, cigarette burns for days. I have to Hotwire to coin up.

The speaker thump tho, and the monitor is tits.

Some home cab setups look like IKEA furniture, and powers to the people that make minty mint restores. Not mines.
My jawns are grimey. I just don’t have time or inclination to cherry my shit out.

Fantastic! I'm sure a magic eraser would go a long way on some of those scuffs and cigarette burns, if you were to bother. But it's still a beaut!
Defintely one of my most covitted cabinets. Thanks for posting the pics.

From 2017

I got the 2up one time out of all of my runs.

But I'm pretty sure lives in stock increases rank too (what doesn't), so I got to the point where I stopped lamenting even the absence of the random 1ups materializing.

A few things that worked for me for this run was too...

1. Avoid as many LED/medals/flags as possible.
2. Never power up more than once per life.
3. Avoid the collection of the same weapon icons
4. Collect bombs to a number of 7 by stage 3...and use them freely from there on.
I tried super strict rank control by avoiding bombs..and it wasn't working out. Although I'm increasing rank, the benefits proved to outweigh the increased risk here.
5. Use lightning up until right before the boss fight of stage 6. I'd collect a red vulcan icon right before the fight, and stick with that weapon for stages 7 and 8.

I'm not exactly knowledgeable about this game (don't get fooled by the avatar, i just think it looks cool :D ) but i think there is a significant difference in difficulty between US version and Japan version on the Arcade, it has something to do with how the rank is managed. The number of buttons is also different.

I haven't played this in such a long time that i don't even remember what version i own, lol, will check it out.

Citation needed?

If this is true, we can separate the score table, np.

Doesn’t the 1 at the end of you score mean you continued once? Smelling a ban from SOTM...

That’s a wrap for tonight. Died an utterly stupid death, from poorly managing my shot selection...as mentioned earlier in the thread, there is a time and place for homing...and I have not found it.

Shoulda stuck w/ lightening shot.

Scores updated.

Can anyone confirm what _rm_ said about the region differences in difficulty?

Should I separate the scoreboard?
