JK, This score was from February, I just couldn't help myself.

It's one of my favorites too *I had a chance to play the PCB, and I'm kinda burnt out, bad timing!*
I own the saturn port, maybe I'll particpate this month, but maybe not!

Anyone playing these?

I'll post a score for Hyper Duel

Jeneki - 1,156,848 - Stage 5 - Red disco laser ship - Mame

So is the scoring system really "don't move for points"? So weird ...

Yes and no.

While the score increases when one's ship is idle, the points accrued are negligible in the grand scheme.

The way to achieve a robust score is by squeezing the most medals you can out of the crates in stage 5, and getting maximum stock, perfect and special bonuses.

When did we start doing 2 games per month?

Every once in a while there will be two games. Some hosts are more enthusiastic than others.

We've now done 2 games 2 months in a row. There's a limited supply of great shooters that people want to play. I'm not sure rushing through them is what we should be doing. It also splits the playerbase and/or makes people spend half the time with each game.

I know guys with MAME like to flip though games like it's an old TV, but I thought this was about honing skill and really getting into a game and discussing it. I know I can just choose one game and stick to it, but it changes dynamic we've had for years.

Thoughts?

You see, the goal here is to take an already small pool and spread it as thin as possible. You get as many games as you can, then make separate tables for every regional variant and port in existence. As long as each table doesn't have a score from more than one player, then the month can be labeled as a success.

I'm pretty sure "those guys" have zero influence how these competitions are run. And there hasn't been a change in dynamic. Members have included sub games and second games for ages. The absence of discussion is likely do to few people liking Hyper Duel and nobody liking Gridseeker.

I'm trying to break the 1st spot on Gridseeker but I'm just getting crushed, made it to the third boss but he just wrecked me something awful.

I had blown up several boxes on stage 5 and didn't realize how you were supposed to do it, so the last half of them I did right.

Last score for the day, I'm getting stuck on stage 6 boss. Once the little options come out and the wave of bullets spray I always get smacked.

I'm not looking forward to him at all. Uggh. Made it to I guess the halfway point of Stage 8. These swirly projectiles caught me I guess on their last pass? They are real fast and flying all over the place. Stage 7 is kinda a breeze compared to some of the other levels.

I’ll get the tables updated in a bit- so far it seemed like slug 2 had everyone’s attention this month.

Ok, slowly chipping away after screaming and yelling at the screen.

Gridseeker
Kidpanda - 526,560 - Stage 4 boss - Roflcopter - PCB

Noticed a kinda safe spot on the third boss, if you sit center of screen and right on the tail near the bottom but not all the way, you can just sit there and shoot. Game is still a nutbuster though.

Made it to the midboss sorta of the last stage. Maybe I can squeeze a clear out of it.
