Outside of having a wizard type character on the cover I'd say they are as unrelated as it gets. :P

With observations like this,
my assumption would be that you were born yesterday.

I'm trying it on and it just doesn't fit. Certainly they are both wizards and share some similarities.. But how does this make the two games related?

I went through the effort to find some screenshots or anything of Magicoal but the internet is mysteriously devoid of them..

You can see the game in action in this Youtube video briefly from the 0:31 - 0:34 mark. Additionally there is the intro from the game on youtube here.

The games are completely different. Magician Lord is a action/platformer and Magicoal is a action/rpg which plays very similar to Secret of Mana. I've never seen a wizard without a pointy hat or cape. That would be like a nerd without a pocket protector. Never happens.

all right, all right. :crying:

this thread was only meant to
be a joke, was all.

still, many of you are missing the point
here; that the MAGICOAL guy's
outfit is strikingly similar in style
to ELTA's.
before MAGICIAN LORD, i do not
recall ever seeing a wizard
anything like ELTA before;
overall blue, with brown leather boots
and brown hair, amongst several other fine details.
perhaps the MAGICOAL team liked
ELTA's overall color and design motif,
and decided to copy it.
perhaps i'm totally wrong, and i WAS born yesterday,

Whatever... :A::B::C::D:

BTW; anybody know where i might find MP3s
of the MAGICOAL soundtrack?
the ones in NEO ALEC's link up there are dead;

No, I'm with you. Yes there are some similarities, with the Magicoal guy looking more like a chibi version of Elta. Is the Magicoal a ripoff? No, but I wouldn't doubt if the design team was at least inspired by Magician Lord, somewhat.
