Oh wow, you guys are getting achievable scores. I might have a chance at this one. I'll stick Pulstar in tonight. I had it in for a while, but Fast Striker replaced it recently. While in practice, getting to the third stage mega boss was pretty easy, but those damn lasers at the bottom always got me near the end of him I think I've only beaten him on one credit once. I'll give this a shot in a day or so and rank in.

The problem with this game is it has the Gradius syndrome. You die, and unless you have memorized the stage you are basically fucked. Most of the plays I've done I get to stage 4 before I die and then that's it. But sometimes I get to stage 5, but once again the same thing happens. In about a week I'll dissect the game in hopes of helping people with scoring.
