I have a fairly modest Toshiba Portege P3 650hz with DVD playback.

I've owned this for two years, bought used for a good price but it's all stock. It has only 128mb of RAM which is upgradeable. As it is, the DVD player will not playback movies normally if my screen resolution is normal, I have to make it smaller. While I'm aware that it could also be a meager video card (of which I can't do anything about) I'd still like to upgrade the RAM. If not for the movies, but internet will be faster.

It's obvious that I'd upgrade to 256 but I was wondering, given the CPU, if it could be upgraded to 512 or if my PC would even benefit from such an upgrade?

Thanks for the assist.

More ram the better.
Get as much as the lappy can handle / You can afford.

I agree, put the max amount into your laptop. It will run much better, and ram is fairly inexpensive for a model such as yours. You will notice a nice difference when you go from 128 to 512!

If you ever have to question yourself whether to upgrade RAM or not than that most likely means you should. Go as high as your laptop will let you or you can afford. I'm sure your model can do at least 512MB if not 1GB.

Thanks for the replay guys but my question wasnt whether I should or shouldn't simply because I know I need to.

I just wondered with the model I'm currently using, according to it's specs, I don't know how much RAM is max for this model until it doesn;t really perform any better. I wasn't sure if I could put 512 and notice a difference over 256 with my laptop.
