Thanks a lot. Yesterday ill try to remove the majongs games as you subject but nothing change. The weird thing is that already have more games but when i update to patch some games the problem begins. Ill try to reformat and include less games. I let ypu know if that works.

Used firmware wiper, updated to latest firmware. The audio is still problematic. I suppose I wound up with a faulty Loader

Sorry I am lazy and haven’t read all 12 pages of this thread yet, but I have recently purchased a NGCD Front Loader and I plan to get one of these SD Loader chips installed when it arrives.

I read that the SD Loader is incompatible with the Unibios as it does patch work directly to the NGCD Bios.

Does the SD Loader offer some Unibios like features on its own? Region select, cheats, that sorta thing?

Yea it offers cheats blood in metal slug everything unibios 4.0 offers pretty much the sd loader is great only issue is neo geo cd does not have all the AES MVS games so your missing a few great games other then that is a really nice improvement to the neo geo cd

Since you're getting a frontloader, please check if you're having a similar video issue to the one here (look to the right of objects on solid colors). Both front loaders I had have this issue. Both toploaders and the CDZ were fine.

Ghosting in Frontloader NGCD RGB Image

Does anyone know if recapping the video circuits will fix this? I just got this frontloader, and there is ghosting in the image (you can see it to the right of objects in the solid colors). Tested the toploader with the same scart cable and capture device, and it doesn't have the issue. The same...

I bought a 2nd and 3rd premodded NeoCD and they're working so I guess I'll sell the broken one. Some things just can't be fixed.

That's right the SD Loader and Unibios do not mix. You can only have one or the other.

I don't know if the SDL has ALL of the same cheats (that would be ideal) however I tried some SDL cheats with Art of Fighting and they worked. Can anyone confirm if the Loader offers all cheats like Unibios 4.0 does?

This was not a hard install, but certainly a fiddly one. If anyone has no digital/redbook audio, double check your CDDA cable. Once I realized mine was not connected correctly the music worked just fine.

And also cue/bin dumps where the audio tracks are also bins work just fine. No need to convert them to wav.

Basically just throwing into the googles what I wish I found yesterday.

I couldn't figure out how the card slot is meant to fit in the top loader vents. As it is, if I remove the card it's going to fall back into the system. Moving it to the next vent slot isn't going to work either because I've already maxed out the angle I can bend the hinge while keeping the PCB flat.

I already experimented with three different rip versions and two different microSD cards as well.

I can trigged the "PAUSE" on-screen using the SELECT button on the frozen background after the monologue appears when defeating the boss at the end of stage one.

All other games work fine, and I even completed a full play-through of Ironclad ~ Super Iron Brikinger just now FYI

And speaking of NGCD, I have a top loader with a JP PSU and I have to go through the hassle of voltage converter and everything. Is there a way to get a EU/220V PSU without having to buy a expensive original one?

Have you managed to find the PSU?

Try scanning eBay for that, and you should find a black brick with the red letters "JGO" on it.
Otherwise, just visit Stone Age Gamer and buy it from there. JGO = Japan Game Online (They're marvellous people!).

Hi,

Did anyone had success building it's own NeoGeo CD SD Loader?
I have recently ordered some F Version PCBs and mounted them as per the Github details from Furrtek and tempting my luck purchased some parts on AliExpress to complete the project.

I can confirm that the STM32 microcontrollers are genuine and work well as I used them on other projects and in this particular I was able to program them without hassle.
I have been able to connect to the CPLD by JTAG and Quartus II detected the CPLD ID properly and I was able to blanck check and program/delete a test on it.
I have my doubts on the flash chips and the transceivers, but unfortunately being the PCB upside down makes trobleshooting difficult.

I have been able to theoretically upgrade the CPLD firmware using the NDSLZZZZ.WAD file from FW version 0.11 successfully, showing the following LED blinking sequence:

- 1*blue blink
- 3*green blinks
- 3*fast green blinks
- 16*blue blinks
- 8*slow blue blinks

Additionally I do get the bios dump on the sd, but this does not match exactly with the retail BIOS I do have burned on the EPROM on the NGCD, which I am not sure if this is OK as this could be the patched FW version.

Anyway, after this I have only been able to:

- Get address error messages with some garbage (disappeared when I changed the 68000 socket for a new one that made proper contact)
- Got once a "RESET3 Error", wher I was presented with VBL: 00C00438 and BIOSV:4E
- Blank screen (now happening always after updating the FW)

I've tried to erase the flash with the eraser WAD and then reprogram several times, unfortunately that did not made any difference.
However when I erase the flash I get straight to the NGCD original BIOS always.

So, after having reviewed continuity on every solder pin of resistor arrays, capacitors, flash chip, cpld, flash, microcontroller and QFP socket my supects are:

- SST Flash
- Transceivers

Hope anyone has faced a similar scenario and could help me to diagnose this without having to spend much more time than I have already spent.

I'm a bit late to this party, but I wonder if the bug I found (and Furrtek could replicate) was fixed for The Last Blade 2 where the game would hang after a few specific fights. It is listed on his site as a rare crash and a known issue with firmware 0.9, but it's not listed as fixed for the followup firmwares.

Not a huge issue, but I do like that game and the crash is fairly easy to trigger in casual play. I guess I'll finally update mine and see haha.

I have all of those mods too and had zero issues with them. Wasn't until I reached the SD Loader where I'd been experiencing an unfixable problem. I'm going to try and purchase one, one more time and make damn sure I ask the modder to leave the console on in demo mode (or play through the problem games I mentioned earlier) for over 2 hours. That should give me a thorough test before having it shipped! My issue is the music would get scratchy/distorted after after about 25 minutes. Used to take longer to fuck up.

The only way I found to fix this CDDA crackling audio problem is to install 3 resistor with 330 ohm value, in parallel with the 3 audio wires, to the related SANYO LC78815 audio DAC. So, you just have to solder one resistor for each ivolved pin of the IC and connect all them to the ground pin of the same IC.

Does this mean the card that I'm using isn't compatible? It has been formatted to FAT32 using the suggested tool. It's a 16GB Kingston card.

I can play original discs ok when I go to CD Menu.

FAT32 is good, but I used to get the same error randomly.

Try these steps:
1) Power-Cycle without any card inserted.
2) Turn the system off then insert the Kingston card & power on again.
3) Make sure the card & ODE installations are sound.

If you can try with a SanDisk "Ultra" SDXC I.
