It's me. We had a talk via mp and you advise me to liaise with lions3.
:lolz: I totally forgot about that, sorry. Cool this has worked out so far.

How about a custom MVS cart case. Here's my current prototype. This weekend I'm hoping to wrap up version 1.0.
looks interesting, not sure I see the point however... as Gyrian and Jontoy said though, if this was made for the NeoSD......

I've had a few requests for custom replacement shells. Plus I personally just got a Pulstar that had a beatup shell with a horrible replacement label. So thought it would be fun to see if I could make a decent alternative. Plus yes, I could made a version with a SD card slot in the side. I would just need to figure out the placement.

it does look nice, I didn't want to knock your design at all. I just thought a donor or repro shell would most likely be cheaper and look closer to the original. But this is something new and different, so more power to you :)

Here's a clear version of the custom shell

Not yet. I'm sending one out tomorrow to get some feedback. If that goes well and people around here seem interested i'll probably make a small batch to start off.

Replace the logos with an area to be able to place a sticker on it.

Shiny! I'd prefer something like this for the NeoSD over the offical shell honestly...

Btw.: Do you sell those "side panels" I see on the MV2F?

I kinda thought that this is what it was made for but I realize there might not be the needed SD slot on the side?

Haha. That was always the intent. I printed a prototype and added to my 2F. But got side tracked with projects and never came back to finishing it. Okay, I'll add it back to my "to do" list.

Well I meant to have a NeoSD by now. Just haven't ordered yet. Maybe we can bribe Panda to let me borrow his for a weekend to measure. [emoji12]

Else if anyone wants to give me measurements for the USB port on the side I would be happy to try adding the hole to the custom shell.

I was going to ask the same question. Those side panels look great. The Power led on the side looks fresh, if that's what it is.

Just sayin', I'd still be totally down for an Atomiswave base.

who has one I can borrow and measure? It's been a few years since I've been around one. Aren't they a little larger? Closer to MV2F size instead of say a MV1C. The reason I ask is cus the larger stuff I have to get access to a shop to make. My home machine only makes the smaller stuff.

Also I might as well share a pic of some shells in progress. (note I removed the logos per BB's suggestion)

and if you didn't see it JNX posted a video of my prototype on Instagram. Thanks James!

Going to post a small batch of custom MVS shells for sale tonight on my website (http://lions3.com). $18 + shipping. Based on the interest i'm getting so far i'm planning to continue making more. I might just do batches in different colors :D

Also I have my hands on a NEOSD. So a 2nd version of the shell will be designed in the coming weeks. Wish I could just have one shell for both but the SD card connector sticks out too far. Plus the NEOSD is half the height of a standard cart PCB.

They're available now.

UPDATE: There's two flaws with my custom shells. First, these shells won't fit a JNX CMVS system. As his systems have a rounded cartridge slot. Secondly, these shells are ever so slightly too big for a shockbox. Currently looking at options for a fix. Hopefully I'll have both of these items fixed for the next batch.

:buttrock:

Really love this shell, it's so slick looking!

I put my bootleg Puzzle Bobble 2 in it, and as you can see it needs a nicer label. But there is a nice little indent for the label to go in.

Installing the pegs was pretty straight-forward.

There's also a PCB divider that you screw in to maintain their distance to one another, but I didn't take a photo of it.

All in all I'm pretty happy with the case. I wouldn't take an original cart and put it this, but I think for boots and multi-carts it suits its purpose really well.

Nice job, lions3! :glee:

Here's an update to my Bust-a-Move Again bootleg upgrade, I got a new replacement label and figured it would be fun to have the mini marquee showing through the cart's shell.

It's just a print-out of the mini marquee, I don't actually own the original (not sure I'd put it in this thing anyway). But overall I like the look.

That is a great idea. How did you affix the marquee in there?

Just some thin strips of tape. Not too noticeable.
