The good news is that there'a going to be a release to the US.

The bad news is that it's by Acclaim.

Does anybody foresee them making a "KOF Girls Gone Wild" commercial? :p

EDIT: <a href="http://www.acclaim.com/games/previews/kof/index.html" target="_blank">Proof of this sign of the Apocalypse</a>

Have their BMX XXX-antics made them enough money to try this kind of publicity stunt again? smirk

After all this fuzz,i rather think they will stay away from the 'girls'...

Hey,they could advertise the GAMEPLAY for a change! eek!

While it's nice to see an attempt to translate the team stories, it'd be even better if it were being done by someone with even a passing familiarity with the series. It's not bad enough that Kagura Chizuru and Jhun Hoon are listed as "Shigaku Chizuru" and "John," but the translator doesn't understand that Kyokugenryuu Karate is the proper name of the Sakazaki fighting style -- instead, he thinks it's just a description and translates it as "a style of extreme contact karate."

Besides that Aclaim can't do anything right, I have hope for this game... maybe not the US version but maybe the Japanese one will be OK.

That new background has a very "Rage of the Dragons" feel to it.... but the character art rocks. Oh well time will tell.

I could be mistaken, but didn't Acclaim distribute Vitual On: OT in the States? If so, then we have nothing to worry about. Then again, they have handled so many licenses poorly, so I guess I won't rest assured until the game is released with EVERYTHING (including blood and proper pronounciations).

Dash No Chris, thanks for pointing those errors out to me. I sent the Acclaim webmaster an e-mail telling him to correct those mistakes and pass it on down to the translation staff (although I doubt my message will have any effect in the long run). In any case, I can't wait to see it here in the good ol' USA!

That was ActiVision that brought VOOT here.

In Ack!Lame!'s defence, they did release Galactic Attack (Layer Section 1/RayForce) in the US. And that came away pretty inscathed. ...except for the name, but its just as bizarre as Layer Section.

What the hell is the problem? At least it wasn't picked up by EA who would bastardize the box art with that giant fucking border they are so hell bent on putting on every release, and the extra $5 price tag. I think Acclain are very brave to pick this up!

I see! I knew the distributor started with the letter "A". Thanks for the correction.

Frankly, I don't see there being that much of a problem. I'll wait until it's released, and then from there, get everyone else's opinions on what's been left in/taken out before diving in.

So far those are my only gripes about the translation, I'm stoked it's coming over here and i get the chance to cause havok with Moe again( Moe for KoF 2k3! ) but other then that i doubt Acclaim will do anything to really screw this up

Guys, the translation mistakes aren't Acclaims fault. The text was taken verbatim from the asian version's manual (which was written in engrish), with some corrections made regarding the spelling. Believe me, the original manual was much more poorly translated.

Could be worse.

3DO could be localizing/distributing it. :p

Personally, after the absolutely stellar job of localizing Shadow Hearts, I wouldn't mind seeing Midway instead of Acclaim handle the job.

Acclaim has done some really stupid stuff as of late. Anyone remember that "change your name to turok" contest they had awhile ago? I for one will never ever forgive them for releasing the 100% utter crap that is BMX XXX.
