Has anyone found a decent handheld with a good DPad and face buttons? I've picked up the Retroid Pocket 2+ and the Odin Lite and both have trash controls. Can't attack fast enough in Mega Man, and can't smoothly do DPad rolls in fighting games. I really just want a handheld that can play up through PS1 & Saturn well with good controls. I don't understand why these companies spend all this time and money on these things and the controls are shit. Just put Saturn or PSP quality controls in there and be done with it.

Very subjective, but I have had the best luck with Anbernic in terms of spot on controls. Although I have a Retroid Pocket 4 Pro and have ZERO complaints about it. That said, I mainly play my Anbernic RG406V and the controls are the best I've found and it has a 4:3 screen and plays everything you mentioned perfectly. The RP4 has more power, but I find myself playing the 406V WAY more. I love the ergonomics and the controls.

I'll look into those. I do like my Retroid 2+ for easier games and RPGs. I definitely prefer a 4:3 screen too.

I had a Steam Deck and hated that thing too. Most games had such small text or some issues running well. I hated how the DPad was all the way on the top too. It was so hard to press Left. Loading roms was a PITA cause the Steam version of RetroArch is trash.

AYANEO’s latest flagship Android handheld, the AYANEO Pocket S2, made its global debut alongside the newly upgraded the Qualcomm Snapdragon® G3 Gen 3 Platform.
