What the hell is Bao doing in Hugo's intro? I was confused when I saw that in the arcade and I am still confused.

I love Poison's inclusion and interaction in the game and BAO?? I would tend to believe he represents an annoying itch that Hugo can't seem to get rid of...Bao is a flea..
BTW Earthquake is definitely redrawn and looks better than his SSII incarnation although I still believe his debut appearance still looks more intimidating.

I don't know. I don't remember Capcom ever saying anything about that. Though I do remember, back in those days, the japanese would change certain characters around (particularly in beat-em-ups) for the US audience. Stuff like, change the gender of certain characters (figured US audiences couldn't take women getting beat up so they sometimes changed them to men). However, I thought that stuff was only in Double Dragon and such, but I don't remember gender changes in Final Fight. I could be wrong, as it has been a long time since I last played Final Fight.

And to answer the question above, yep, Final Fight is the game they came from. Just like Cody and Guy came from that game.

The US censorship make me laugh! An another example, I have watched Alien 4 on US TV yersterday, and when sigourney weaver discover the room with all the genetically modified humans, there is a women still alive. You could see her mutation who was quite disgusting but they hide her nipples. Come on guys, get serious!

When Final Fight first came out, people kept saying that the girls were transvestites, because they sounded like men. When the Super Nintendo version of Final Fight came out, Nintendo of America didn't like the idea of hitting women, and also didn't like the idea of having transvestites in the game. So they got rid of Poison and Roxy and replaced them with Billy and Sid, who had all of Poison and Roxy's attacks, but were men. However, Nintendo of Japan didn't seem to mind, and in the Japanese version of Final Fight, kept the girls in there. However, in the Street Fighter 3 series, Poison is with Hugo, and sounds a lot more like a women. So They might of been men in Final Fight, but got a sex change for Street Fighter 3. Capcom kind of went a bit mad story line wise here.

I'm surprised people didn't make the same comment about Voltron (the anime). I mean, the american dubs had guys play like all the girls except for that princess, herself. They sounded like men, as well. Of course, what's scary is that I did not remember that at all, until I saw episodes of Voltron again about a year or so ago. Sure, it was nostalgia talking, but the voices were a bit of a shock.

To clear it all up. In the US Verson of Final Fight on the Super Nintendo they made Poison "Billy" and chaged it to a guy. Guess beating up girls wasn't PC to Capcom.. spock

But in the real arcade game Poison is in fact a punker chick.

um yeah i think it is "clear" that she's not a guy, only because she's an effective transexual. about a year ago or so i got real into reading up on street fighter canon and since Third Strike is my favourite SF game i spent alot of time finding out about it's characters (who have almost no bio). ofcourse hugo has some bio from final fight... and part of it was that poison was intended to be a transexual.

some of the things that capcom (of japan... let's not speak of CofA) of japan who created poison say, and things that are postulated/conjectured and reported at The Street Fighter Plot Canon Guide:

men imitated women's voices for poison's voice, rather than have women do the voice acting. so it's a "dude trying to sound like a chick", which is something i'm sure transvestites & transsexuals try to do.

there's more. i suggest you dudes & doubters check out the SFPCG if you're into that kind of thing (and you should be). so yeah poison's a guy... but i mean, i know i'm comfortable to say that he's a hell of a good looking faker (the arts they put out of poison don't make it a priority to make him dude-ish, rather they are quite attractive representations.).

whether or not you wanna discount this or not feel free, but CofJ has put out some official statements so... you're wrong (i'm not speaking to anyone in paticular) if you say he is a she.
