O man, this is truely fantastic news to hear. I never got SSRPG because there is very limited resources atleat that I could find to get myself through it. I can not wait till this patch is finished so I can finally play this game.

Wow this is great news. I've been sitting on the Japanese NGCD version for a few year in hopes that someone would eventually create an English patch for it, looks like my wish has come true. Can't wait to check this out, keep up the good work!

Wow, this is great news. I have a decent understanding of Japanese, but all the text takes some fun away from the game.

Can't wait to see how this develops.:buttrock:

I just played SSRPG today and it's absolutely great, although I do play it on CDZ, so probably it won't work unless someone can patch it properly.

I may be a complete IT idiot here, but how would the patch work?

You make the ISO, apply a patch using an external program like PPFoMATIC, and burn it (Or play it on the emu)

The particulars will be something I'll have to work out when the translation is actually completed. For technical reasons, I'll have to rebuild the ISO when all is said and done.

When things get closer to completion, I'll likely see about getting some CD/CDZ owners here to try it out on a real system. As is, I'm working on getting system/combat text done first, as it'll be the trickiest (virtually every string has to be a specific length). The only story text that's completed so far is the Ukyo's chapter-1 intro... which is what stuff you've seen in the screenshots is from.

And yes, I will be editing the battle menus to something more legible to non-Japanese speakers... most likely icons, since I can't use real text on those tiny menu items.

I've beat SSRPG on the saturn useing a walk through.

Still i wouldn't mind getting the NGCD version then finding a, eumlator to use with the english patch.

Just so i could get the whole story of the game.

Sure beating it on the saturn and useing a walk through wasn't that bad.

Still walk throughs don't cover every thing that's in a jpn rpg.

Heck. I'd get a NG CD just to play this in english. I don't like playing games much on emulators.

Yeah no kidding me too.
Wasn't there a group that was doing a tranlation for this many years ago? I hope that you have better luck since that one never surfaced. I would love to see this happen.

No worries. I've wanted to see SSRPG in English from day one as well. The original project never really got past the initial tinkering phase. This is well beyond that.

nice work guy.
i like the type you used.
can't wait to see a finished product,
i might have to buy a psp to run that rom. (should load like nothing)
god. i remember playing it on the cdz.
i would literally be falling asleep during the load times.
terrific game, but you're rather aimless if you don't know what you're
doing or don't have a walkthrough.

i was able to play it on cdz. playing it on the toploader was bad. i actually only started the game ones and never played it again till i got a cdz.

I don't know about you guys, but I'll be happy just to play it on an emulator and avoid the obscene load times.

I suppose I ought to throw up a project page somewhere, huh?
