I watched Under the Shadow. It's decent. The only scares are jump-scares, but it's interesting to see '80s Tehran and the stuff they had to do, like tape the walls to avoid glass shattering from bombings. In terms of co-produced Iranian movies, I'd definitely go with A Girl Walks Home Alone at Night.

Rewatched Hitchhikers Guide 2005 tonight, and I still enjoy it, even with the good awful yes-I'd-still-hit-it Zoey Deschanel as Trillian. She's such a terrible actress and is annoying to listen to.

Always liked the choice of Rockwell for Zaphod, and was pleasantly surprised with Mos Def as Ford, not to mention the perfect choice of Alan Rickman for Marvin.

It's a shame it didn't do well so well never get the rest of the story with a big budget treatment, even without Rickman. At least until the inevitable reboot.

Ah well, I guess I'll just re-re-re-read the novels.

Watched excalibur this evening, the 1981 film by john boorman, best version of a king arthur film ???....yeah probably in my opinion, it's still got that magic and certain scenes still get my goosebumps raised.

First Reformed - Interesting, much more so than entertaining. A lot of reviewers really loved this movie, got a ton of deep meaning out of it. Didn't hit me like that, but it was still worth watching. The ending, though, WTF? I think I get it and what they were going for, but it's still just weird. I'd say it's entirely likely that Ethan Hawke wins Best Actor for his role.

Revenge (the 2018 French thriller, not the 80's Kevin Costner joint) - really well-made. Very reminiscent of I Spit on Your Grave/Day of the Woman, but with a feminist tilt. Still insanely violent and plenty of nudity, though much of the latter is of the male variety. The violence and gore was at about the top of the scale of what you can do and still get an R rating, I think. Definitely recommended if you like the genre.

Yeah, that movie is okay except it's missing key parts of the mythology like the giant elephants. I understand it would have been hard to pull off with 1981 SFX, but how can you make a King Arthur movie without the giant elephants? But other than that, I agree Excalibur does an adequate job.

Excited for Mandy, hopefully more of a real movie than BTBR. Which was basically a movie length music video.

The Cooler- WH Macy plays The Cooler, a guy with such shit luck that his job is working in an old school Casino for Alec Baldwin ruining other gamblers winning streaks. Strong performances and a surprising amount of nudity involving Macy and Maria Bello. Recommended.

Skybound- 5 people are trapped on a private jet on their way to LA when the US is attacked by rouge terrorists who launch nuclear missiles at every major US city. So stupid, unintentionally bad and poorly acted that it is hilarious.

Hereditary - I liked it. Admittedly, the second half wasn't as good, and the ending literally made me laugh out loud it was so dumb, but it did a great job of being genuinely creepy with almost zero reliance on jump scares. Toni Collette was really good.

Exactly how I felt about the ending, it is so unintentionally funny... I couldn't take the film seriously after that, even though I really enjoyed the first half.

Bill and Teds Excellent Adventure- Still holds up. I watched the sequel recently which I love and compared to it this one is quite subdued.

Gremlins 2- Hadn't seen this since I was a kid and it was on cable constantly. The first one is obviously a classic but the sequel is totally insane and just a ton of fun. I forgot how creative it is.

Texas Chainsaw Massacre: The New Generation- It's obviously a total piece of shit but holy shit is it insane. Mathew McConaugheys performance is unbelievable.
