Tried winning a Romanian Psl 7.62x54r on gunbroker. I swear the person holding the auction was either bidding it up him self, or having a buddy do it. I put my top bid at 1300. The person who kept bidding kept doing it in 20$ increments until he was the high bidder...

I'm still trying to find one if anyone knows of a local store with one that accepts credit cards let me know please!

1300 wow.

My friend just snagged a CETME on gunbroker with 13 magazines for like $850. Comes with a bunch of spare parts.

I ordered and got a Smith Vortex flash hider to replace the compensator on my AR...while the compensator is great, it is loud as hell and smacks anyone within 10' of me on either side in the face with hot gas...not good for side by side drills. Decided to go with the Smith instead.

Also got 4 GI 30 rd magazines. Two regular, run of the mill ones I picked up for $13/pc, two impulse buy "zombie green" painted with yellow Magpul followers and biohazard emblems...lol. They're silly looking things but I bought them for a sight gag at the range...if I ever get to the range again.

All of this "gun ban" waiting is driving me nuts. As of yesterday I decided to stay away from many sights and to stop reading speculation crap...it was just pissing me off too much. I just wish they get the fuck on with it and do something...I hate waiting for shit like this. It's like when I was a kid and my mom would tell me my father was going to give me a spanking when he got home from work...the waiting was worse than the spanking...uggg...

It's the best we can do given our states. Are the Senators in IL anti-gunners out of Chicago? That's my assumption.

We all know who the Senators and reps in CA are.

At least our Governor is OK on guns. But he has a fine line to walk without alienating his party's support.

Does Remington make a pistol grip only 870? Anyone know.

I know I could pick up a Mossberg Cruiser.

Done and done, also go ahead and join GOA if at all possible.

And no, none of them are perfect, but they're really our only shot at keeping the bullshit at bay.

And the more alarmist bullshit I hear, the more motivated I am to donate and join more and more of these groups.

Chicago is a fucking cesspool of borderline criminal politicians (and some actual criminal politicians). And yes, if they're from the Chicago area, damn near all are insane anti-gun...and I mean INSANE. You should read the shit bills they propose every year, some of them are bonkers. The rest of the state is pretty conservative and pro gun, they often keep Chicago in check.

My wife and I have seriously talking about moving within the next 5 year should the economy hold together. We've had it with this state for many reasons and Chicago's politics are a major reason.

I am an NRA member btw...

I've spent time with both and still prefer the 870. My suggestion, try to pick up a used police model (forged internals) and replace the stock. You can get one hell of a deal on them.

I think I found a link to one on Google but their sight isn't responding at the moment...

On a side note, pistol grip only shotguns suck...beat the holy hell out of your wrist. I will not shoot one again if I can help it...

NRA Member also. Don't like everything they do but over I feel they are worth joining. I get tired of all the junk mail and such from them though.

Aside from that I looked at an 870 as I wanted to build myself a pistol grip setup home defense type. Decided not to put the pistol grip on it. Am going to put a collapsible stock with some recoil reduction set up in it I think.

I decided on an H&R Pardner pump. Its basically an 870 clone and you can swap out everything but the barrel. Anyhow I love mine it's very well made. Has a nice heavy duty shell extractor. Anyhow not a big deal to put an aftermarket grip on it.

I picked it up new for $160 from my local gun shop. For the money its a very nice firearm.

I only want a pistol grip shotgun so that I can chop the barrel down to about 14" and have an AOW "Smoothbore Pistol." I would have to make the AOW from a shotgun that has never had a stock installed on it - otherwise if you chopped the barrel down on such a shotgun you'd have an SBS rather than an AOW. It's a stupid technical distinction. I already have an 870 and if they change the NFA rules I'd like to get an 870 smoothbore pistol. And yeah, it'd be a range toy. We can't have many fun NFA toys here in CA. The other AOW I would really like would be a Draco or other 7.62 AK pistol w/ a forward grip. That'd be awesome.

I'm not making friends elsewhere with my opinions...here's a reply I sent to a guy when he tried to explain the current firearms gougins as "supply and demand" while acting like I was a moron:

You can explain it anyway you want but it is not supply and demand.

I'll explain it...greed.

This is the "because I can, that's why" age. Greedy, selfish people who don't give a crap about honor, about loyalty, about responsibility, about anything outside the me, my, mine and the almighty dollar.

You know, the God-dollar...the Jesus H currency.

"Hey, if they're dumb enough..."

Sure. The dollar is why we have greedy politicians, why companies run the show, why people and the government is corrupt and why, when a time arises when we firearm owners, we supporters and defenders of the second amendment turn on each other like greedy little pigs fighting for the slop trough.

Supply and demand?

Disgusting.

And people like you justify it...justify the behavior of those trying to cash in on the panic...but then come here and condem people like Dianne Feinstein who are trying to cash in on public panic to get what she wants. But gouging for money rather than political agenda is ok...am I right?

Hypocrites...and we deserve what we have coming to us...crap like this is why. When given the chance, we do EXACTLY what we despise others for doing...yet act like we have our **** together.

America is falling apart at the seams and at the base of it all...your definition of supply and demand...guess you should cash in while you can right? F the next guy, as long as you get yours...

Its sad, just last year my local stores had Romanian psl 7.62x54rs for 799. About 3 months ago for 899. Since dec 15th, he is selling them locally for 1599.99. Then if you use a credit card he charges 3% more. So with New Yorks high tax rate. I'm looking at around 1850 dollars for a rifle that would of costed me around 975 before the panic. This is such total shit.

I passed on a Norinco m14 today for 1354, i can't see spending that much on these knock offs made by shit companies. I think i will hope for the best, and if this panic ends and their are no gun bans implemented i will then buy a .308 m14/m1a/socom for somewhat normal prices.

Part of it is genuinely supply and demand.

When you normally sell a rifle for $1000 and you have no problem getting that rifle from your distributor then you continue to sell it for $1000.

What do you do when you can't get that same $1000 rifle from your distributor for the next 5 months or longer?

What do you do when you aren't going to be able to get product?

You raise prices to make up for the sales you aren't going to make.

I sent a rely over there on the other site about capitalism:

I believe we all can agree that Wal Mart is "king" of what capitalism represents...yet their ammo prices remain the same. The only time they raise their prices is incrementally when thier supply price goes up...which isn't often. Thier 100rd 9mm win white box? $24...same as it was 6 months ago. I know this because I just bought 100 rds today for that.

Again, you can sugar coat things all you like...but this is opportunistic bullshit...no different than what the politicians are doing, cashing in. In one case, it's the dollar, in another, it's power. Either way, capitalism or no, it's using a panic to get personal gain and it's disgusting.

I swear, I have seen some of the most deplorable behavior since the Sandy Hook shooting...on all sides. From the anti gun nuts/media/politicians, to firearm owners, ive seen some serious evil on all sides.

This capitalism and its amazing benefits is why we have billionaires living just miles from starving citizens. Why giant corporations control the government through lobbying and pay offs. This is why we're are in a recession and why people can rob millions of their pensions while getting a slap on the wrist thinks to ungodly expensive lawyers.

Capitalism is not all its cracked up to be...and the cracks in the wall are showing. I'm not going to look at things and say communism or socialism is the answer because its not...but if you think this system is going to prosper forever, it's not and greed is what's going to destroy it...the kind of money/power greed were seeing right now.

This is all a snipit of a larger problem. I hate to get all "deep thinker" on a pointless handgun web site but so many need to REALLY look at things around them and see what's going on. We are litterally rotting from the inside out...this greed, this selfish behavior that we write off as "capitalism" is destroying our freedom and the way of life we could have in this country...

*EDIT*
I have a buddy that is a FFL reseller. While supply is low, his prices haven't changed a bit. Places like Magpul and Rock River haven't changed the prices on their stuff a dime...it's the greedy store owners that are getting trickle lowers in and literally upping the price 600%. If this were really "supply and demand" Magpul would be asking $45 a PMAG and Rock River $450 a stripped lower. I passed up a lower last week for $75 from my buddy, who is selling like hot cakes but refusing to gouge because others are...

Honor. Responsibility. Honesty. Fairness. All things that don't fit anywhere near the modern definition of "capitalism"...

I'm pretty sick of all the crazy buyers myself. Not trying to sound like an ass but, really there are some crazy ones out there. At the same time I have to wonder that they believe, because I guess If I really thought things were going to be bad and buying up guns and ammo would really help me or my family I would do it as well.

I went to my favorite local gun shop on Saturday. It's owned by the family of a long time friend of mine. He is so busy with the family business that I never see him outside work. They have had to hire more people to keep up with sales. I can't say that the prices have gone up on everything but they have an a few things. They are moving stuff so fast its insane.

I've never seen the shop as full as I had this weekend. The main parking lot was full, the side parking lot was full, the resturant across the road had its lot full, and was not open yet, and down all the roads there were lines of parked cars. This shop is in a rather rural location It takes me a good while driving from town to get there and once there I noticed a lot of plates on cars from counties not at all close to me.

I go there every two weeks or so even if I'm not buying anything just to look around and visit my friend. When I do make a firearm purchase 90% of the time its from there. I'll buy some of my ammo from walmart as it is close and cheeper if I am just needing some stuff to go out and shoot at the moment, and the every now and again bargain I may find in a shop elsewhere. Honestly its a really great shop. The largest in the state with over 7,000 in stock firearms normally.

Anyhow, in the shop there was a huge line to do background checks. Every time one came back as a NO and they couldn't sell to a person, there was such a demand they would just hold the gun up and announce that they have one going back into stock, what it was and the price. Most of them never went back on the shelf as someone there would get it and get in line to buy.
They were low on everything and having some trouble getting some stuff in. Seems people who produce the stuff will fill the big money orders first and then down the line. So when walmarts everywhere sell out of something, they will get the refill first, taking maybe all the current production stock and leaving the little shops waiting. Some of the local shops have jacked up their prices and are still selling a bit, but they can't get stock to replace what they are selling.

i don't know if it's supply and demand or just being crazy. I've personally not bought anything for a while. I was looking at a pistol I wanted but decided I would wait until it all blows over before I get it. Mostly I'm just a target shooter, but its kind of bothersome to find everyone out of .22lr rounds. It was a lovely day this Saturday and I thought I would go do some plinking but couldn't find any ammo that I wanted to shoot. Only the really expensive stuff was on the shelves still and I'm not going to buy that to poke holes in a paper target.

Yeah...the .22LR thing really stumps me. If morons are panic buying because they feel a ban is comming, I can't understand why .22 would make that list. While stupid, I can understand why you'd want to get something Pre-ban (AR, AK, >10rd magazines) but .22? Seroiusly.

I shoot a shit load of .22...up to 10K rounds a season. Last year was a "light" shooting season for me figuring I was cycling so much but I still managed to pump out 2-3K. I'm currently sitting on 2250 or so rounds of CCI blazer, the only brand ill shoot out of the M&P 15-22...I'd like to have 3-5K more for next season but were SOL for now. Lets hope things settle down by May or June or my range time will be nill this season.

Exactly, i am looking to buy another rifle so i can get range time in. My father owns 100 acres in upstate New York. I love to shoot. I can walk out my back door and shoot from my porch.

I see a shit load of people that don't own land, that don't go to ranges buying everything they can because they want to be like the show doomsday preppers and just stock the shit. All because of dec 14th they fear a gun ban will be coming. The only thing i can see being banned again, is high capacity magazines.

Now i agree with SmokeHouse. To many private sellers on gun broker selling shit for way over MAP. Because people are panicing and spending stupid amounts of money on shit that isn't worth all their money. I could easily throw my M&p 15 lower on gun broker right now and get nearly 850 dollars for it. When the whole rifle costs me a little under 950 a year ago. I wouldn't screw people over like that. I would post the whole rifle for what i paid so someone else could have something they really want.

If you claim to be a gun lover, a gun enthusiast. Someone who supports guns in general, why would you screw over your fellow man who also believes in the 2nd amendment and just wants to exercise that amendment.

We don't live too far from one another IIRC.
Any chance I could get a deal on 2? :)

I think some of it is supply/demand, the rest is folks trying to cash in.

You guys want to help me out? If you guys could keep an eye out for a VEPR 20 inch or 23 inch barrel'd 7.62x54r rifle for me. That would be super cool! I just got caught slipping and lost one for 1300 with 6 magazines and a scope and a range finder!

Edit- Never mind i found a Vepr brand new for 1099. So much win after so much fail on my part.

I like Kopel's argument regarding magazine sizes (and the in common use standard per Heller) and the idea of civilians being able to have weapons parity at least with the average patrol officer.

The purpose of the 2nd Amendment, is not for home-defense, it's not to protect hunting, or protect collectors, or protect competition shooters, or for any of the usual how-many-angels-can-dance-on-the-head-of-a-pin court-arguments; it's has now and always been a "Plan B" for when you determine that your government is no longer your government.

Unfortunately, gun-control arguments, as such, are NEVER based on logic or reasoning; it's always the result of fear-mongering by those with either a covert or overt agenda. Take for instance; the California ban on the .50BMG caliber: there has NEVER, EVER, been an instance of .50BMG being used in ANY crime (other than post-ban possession). It's a solution looking for a problem.

This bull shit in New York is crazy. They are trying to pass a 7 round magazine confiscation bill. Also, ban all "assault" rifles. Giving new laws to guns already grand fathered in. So if you have one its not re-sellable period not even privately among each other. They want everyone to registry all long rifles. You have to renew your handgun license every 5 years.

I honestly don't understand there thought process here. How is going from 10 round magazines to 7 going to stop mass shootings? I agree you should have to pass a mental back ground to even purchase a gun. But not strip people of a right to own these fire arms. Also, all 30 round magazines even pre-ban will be considered illegal and a felony.

If they pass this bill, other states will follow in its example. If anyone else is in New York, even if you aren't give a Ny Republican a call and express your concern. If we don't fight for our 2nd amendment no one will.
