I would really want to go, but I'm poor as hell right now. Going anywhere just to play games isnt a option. But please report about your stay and or take video or whatever.

I will almost certainly be there, I don't entertain any notion of Tournament play, As I would get destroyed. But I'd love to see a fraction of the excitement I saw in the Daigo vid last year. Plus its about a hour and a Half Drive, from where I live in the Summer(AZ).

Same for the people from Vegas, I think you guys could also offer hosting some of the visitors for cost purpose, and to know more people on the Neo scene.

i live at home.

There's no way I can host people here. But, does any one have any idea where it's going to be held at? if it's at a hotel/casino, I'd be up for spending a few bucks towards a suite or something so I don't spend all day beating the piss out of people, then going driving back home if it's on the otherside of town for me.

There are links for the trailer on the front page as soon as you click the link.

I wanna go so bad. If I do, it's gonna be my first time in an airplane, and being out west period. However, if there's gonna be a casual play area, I'm not going to be in the tournament. Just be there to watch. Where do I go looking for airfare?

Speaking of watching if K.O. comes back and has his 3rd time sparring with Daigo, I wanna be in the masses that go "AY! AY! AY! AY! AAYYYY!!!!!" at Yun SA3 combos all day. :buttrock:

for airplane shit, you can always go to expedia, then go on to buy the ticket directly from the airline instead of through there. It's usually cheaper to buy it from the airline, just use expedia to check which prices are more affordable....

Just some tips for some people as many seem to be clueless about traveling:

~IF you want to book a flight, try cheaptickets.com and/or yahoo.com/travel
~Prices for airflights do not stay the same over time. Meaning that they can
change in the next minute.
~If you buy your ticket directly from the airline carrier, it will most LIKELY cost
you more.
~Hotels in Vegas range from all prices, of course if you want something decent
it will cost you at least $100 per night.

Now about Evo...The people behind Evo have not disclosed where the event
will be held at yet. Check shoryuken.com to be up to the news.

:oh_no:

i have checked a couple of times on expedia and cheap tickets, but usually i get it cheaper directly from the airline, it makes sense. Since the travel agency (cheap tickets/expedia) need to make money somehow.

Either way, ya'll should just try everything to see what meets your expectations...

I'm actually promoting the vote for 2k2 over the internet, mainly over sites in spanish. If anybody wants to help me out add me to your messenger or pm me...

Because surely this is one thing we neo gamers need.

Using the PS2 version of KOF 2K2 sure is bad news...

There is a strange bug in the game that can prevent some combos to be made. At the middle of a combo, if there's a small slowdown, the buttons are switched (punches become kicks and vice-versa). And little slowdowns in combos are a constant thing in the game.

I can't see how a PS2 version can be used in a high competition level like EVO's. :annoyed:

Agreed 110%.

What further pisses me off about those SRK idiots is this quote from their main moderator and site owner:

Why are you even trying, the tournament will not be on AES

Fucking ignorant fool he is. They will probably ban me knowing those guys cause I kind of called him out in that KOF thread (My username there is: Cooler-sama') the fact remains that the PS2 port and the XBOX port which I also have are not worthy enough for high level play, case closed.

The fact that "The Answer" from SRK forums, and Jorge are trying and willing to lend the original and proper hardware and that they wont take it is one of the worst cases of SNK or Neo ignorance I have ever seen. That Wiz guy is a fucking tool.

The fact is though, getting a hold of AES hardware isn't either cheap or easy. Even if a bunch of crazed neo fans do offer hardware, it probably won't be enough. It's not cheap, it's not worth insuring either, given the insane price of not just the game but the console itself.

God, as soon as someone mentioned 2K2 I knew someone was going to threadjack it into another port-hate thread. If you're going to complain about buggy games start with SVC Chaos, or Capcom Fighting Evolution, or most of the VS series, or all of the Motal Kombat series or... ect ect ect.

It would be nice if the neo could represent, even if only a little. Personally,my first choice in games would be Matrimelee, so I can proceed to skool all you punks, but Matrimelee is too obscure a game for tourney play. Having 2k2 there is perfectly fine even if the port is a little buggy. Arguing about what machine the game plays on is pointless. As long as there is serious compitition I'll be happy.

Having 2K2 there on the PS2, a version which many competitive KOF players have already dismissed as inadequate for high/national level play is the point. I dont mind ports at all, I buy every SNK release on PS2 or XBOX etc...as a means of supporting SNK. However, if they are going to have KOF 02 at Evo at least do it right and have the right version there. Having the PS2 port there will deter quite a few people from going, its bad enough that it is a console tourney and not an Arcade run tournament to begin with.

What's wrong with the ps2 version of 2k2? Please don't say "the controls feel weird/off," I'm genuinely curious.

Timing issues, added BC combos that aren't in the original and most characters play a little different. Some combos are either easier or harder to do on the PS2/DC version(the PS2 is a port of the DC 2k2).

Here's something THE ANSWER said

Well after seeing Wiz last post and since I had never really played the PS2 version for real I decided to give the PS2 a chance lastnite. I called some friends who are going to EVO to come over and play with me to get different points view. We all agree that the PS2 Version is not for a high competitive level.

1st. Timing is noticible different(Billy B,B,B,-> B )
2nd. Recoveries are slight different.(specially with Takuma)
3rd. Buffering is different (eg. Iori s.C->HSDM)

This version is more for like fun and unlocking the secret stuff than for a major tourney. Im really happy that they are going to give KOF a chance, I just want it to be a fair one. I am going to stop buggign about the AES for the tourney I just want to make a point clear and hopefully come to an agreement in wich we can have the AES and the PS2 working together.

Everything that cooler/kusanagisama brought up won't do shit to convince them to switch to the real thing. He didn't do much to explain how different the gameplay is. And he mentioned something about the Neo costing 100's more than the PS2, which really has nothing to do with 2k2 being better on ng than on PS2. I have a feeling people will talk shit to him cause of that post.

My point on that was that people are offering to loan their systems/games that are quite expensive items and they are at greater risk of losing out if they get damaged than a PS2. Which is quite possible if there are alot of people using them. The fact that these offers have been made and SRK is ignoring them is ridiculous. Not to mention the various timing issues etc...that come with the PS2 version.

This is by any means meant to be "A Port VS AES war" all it is is facts that are supported by many people on this site and SRK. For a national level and international level tournament like EVO, you think they would listen some? I mean, they did when it came to what system MvsC2 was being played on and they made a compromise.

I personally will not argue with the people behind EVO, I think they do
a good job by organizing the thing and trying to make everyone happy at the
same time. Obviously the PS2 or DC versions are not worthy of a tourney.

Now, going back to EVO, I'm going to speak to the Answer and see if we can
get together and organize a NEO hardware only tourney on the 'side'?
I'm sure a lot of people would be interested on this....I don't care if I have to
spend money on an additional KOF'02 homecart, I will put it on the table for
this tourney.

Btw, anyone arguing with port lovers, stop, and just think that this will get us
no where. Nobody will win anything this way, we should be past that, we need
to get together and see about options on how to set up a proper KOF'02 tourney.

I know there will be a Neo side tourney right now, I'm gonna help out with whatever I can, I'll be bringing my Neo by so we can have an extra one for either casuals or tourneys. I know Oscar(THE ANSWER)will be busy running the KOF tourney if the games doesn't make it to Evo, so he'll need all the help he can get to make things go by quicker and smoother.

BTW, you better enter the Garou tourney :mr_t:

No too found of Garou, will probably do shitty if I play. KOF'02 yes, I will be there.
KOF'01 would be better though. ;)

You guys will see weird teams involving Shin, Goro, Andy, Kensou, & Shermie.

Basically.

Why not MVS over supergun Mame? I mean, that's what they're set up to do for DS3.
